Though in western contexts not saying you are in a relationship can be a red flag, in this case it is a protective factor as both Erica’s and Ziheng’s communities are following their story. I think it’s sweet and honourable; and as you said it is the actions that matter (not only what it is being done but also what it isn’t), so if they are saying they have an ‘assistant and assisted’ relationship, that’s good with me too. Point of the matter is the make each other happy :)
