I was in Nottingham at the time of the anniversary of the death of the great man. The base of the statue in the centre of Nottingham was adorned with flowers and scarves, not just of Forest but of other sides too.
Mark I can believe that because he was loved by every true football fan. He was robbed by the FA by sir Bert millichip of England job when Ron Greenwood was given the managers job and his name wasn't even on the shortlist for an interview disgusting but true. I'm a West Ham fan and it's like Bobby Moore every truthful football fan loved him but in a different way.

I met Mr Clough once when I got a 3 pound 50 ticket to Old Trafford (6th round of the FA cup) 1-0 Forest (Roy Keane scored) Mr Clough walked in and I stood up to attention like a guardsman! He was terrifying but he is still my idol! Never forget you Brian! Best manager England never had!
I wish I had the chance to see him in person. So many things i would love to have asked him and I'm confident that he would've answered them too. A man of the people and always generous with his time ❤️🏴⚽️
@@weekendwarriorprospecting817 I was lucky enough to bump into him after his retirement when he was helping out at his son Simons newsagent in West Bridgford. Will never ever forget that moment till my final breath.
Nottingham Forest, average second division club before Clough, average second division club after Clough, EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS when he was their manager. Point proven.
David Marchant he outstayed his welcome. When the premier league was in its infancy, and exploded in wealth, Forest were a big boy in the league, it was a land grab and they were up there challenging. A couple of seasons in, Clough was dragging them down. In the late 70s and throughout the 80s he was, for me, undisputably the best manager in the world. But by the early 90s, well I don't need to spell out the problems he has outside of football that he dragged into Forest and dragged them down .... should have been replaced sooner, I think
The greatest England manager we never had.deemed unsuitable by the top brass.had we appointed clough I've no doubt about it,we would have won the World Cup
He was deemed unsuitable by one man; Harold Thompson. He was the dictatorial head of the FA. He alone decided that Clough would not be England manager when Revie left in 1977. He alone appointed the yes-man Ron Greenwood. He knew that if Clough was England manager then his days as the dictator were over.
By giving way and buying the tie he 'owned' Clive forever. Still Clough did buy the tie. Strange personality Mr Clough. He pulled much the same stunt with the Forest coach driver once. Clough stopped the bus for the team to go for an impromptu run round a park and told the driver he had to go too as if he drove the bus for the best team in the land he had to be the fittest bus driver in the land!
I remember watching Forest v my side, Cardiff City, not so long after he took over and they were different gravy. I guessed then they would go onto glory but didn't think they would do quite as well. Clough is legend of the game and badly missed by us, the fans
He`s fine as a commentator but annoys the hell out of me cos he always says Alec Ferguson instead of ALEX , I remember in snooker , John Virgo always said Alec Higgins, equally annoying !!!
Excellent story, Clive Tyldesley always seems to enjoy commentating on the game and for his natural enthusiasm and love of the game he is my favourite commentator..
You’ve got to say hand on heart one of Englands greatest ever mangers ..charismatic ..belligerent all rolled into one. He will be spoken about for ever more in the game..True LEGEND ⚽️
I met Cloughie when I was after a ticket to Man Utd away in the FA cup 6th round in the 80's! He walked by me and I was terrified! I stood up like a guardsman at attention! He had something about him! I will never forget that as I got a ticket for 3 pounds fifty! Great man and my hero! I had long hair and looked like a scruff bag! He still did the right thing though! Love you Brian!
Great days. Loved going to watch Forest in those days, we were mainly hopeless apart from Duncan McKenzie but good atmosphere at games despite small crowds. BC was like a breath of fresh air on and off the field!!
It’s like the scene in Casino where Ace wants an equal number of blueberries in each muffin. Top managers in any area know that it’s the details that’ll make or break you.
Clough was a good manager but not great. He got the best out of players by bullying them and installed fear in the team. He had principles for sure and he knew his job inside out. Bill shankly was the most complete manager of all time. Like Clough he took a team from the second division and built them into the team they are today. Shankly didn't install fear in his team he installed greatness.
Hi Clive, its been a long time, but i too have some stories about Brian.....think we travelled together on a few of their plane journeys abroad 79/80........mainly eastern block for me.... Sadly the other Brian T passed away a few months ago, but met Martin J again. Cheers
Best story I heard was an apprentice was tidying up the boot room and answered the phone when it rang. Young man, this is Brian Clough, make a cup of tea and bring it to my office. The apprentice answered f**k off and slammed the phone down. The phone rang again, do you know who I am? Yes Mr Clough, do you know who I am? No, I don’t young man. Well, f**k off again. Phone slammed down again. Great man manager, who had his set of standards, and stuck to them. Only manager I know who would substitute his best player of the day if he thought he had been rude to the ref.
What are crapping about . They were awful commentators. RIP if any off them are dead . Bill MCLAREN . MICHEAL O Hare . Sid Widdell . RIP . You could hear they new what they were commentating on . Ritchie Benaud . Excuse the spelling . They were Commentators .
Standards from top to bottom.. Brian Clough was a God. He'll be spoken about in a 100 years time... great man sorely missed. God speed sir.

it's always weird seeing the commentator's face aswell as his voice
What a legend Cloughie was. And a decent impression of him by Tyldesley.

yes and no
your point is ? we have 2 european cups from 3 seasons

Twice!
The Premier league has only been around since 1992.
Only one Brian Clough!
There's a big void where he once was. It was just a joy growing up with Mr Clough managing in football.
Peter Taylor doesn't get enough credit for Clough's success. Look at Clough's record without him.
I disagree. I think anyone who has a little knowledge of Clough, understand the importance of Taylor. I do anyway.
Players joined Clough's Forest as players, left as Legends.
The man with one of the most recognisable voices in football. The Champions league isn’t the same without Clive
Absolutely
The greatest England manager we never had.deemed unsuitable by the top brass.had we appointed clough I've no doubt about it,we would have won the World Cup
We'd have won it twice in a row
He was deemed unsuitable by one man; Harold Thompson. He was the dictatorial head of the FA. He alone decided that Clough would not be England manager when Revie left in 1977. He alone appointed the yes-man Ron Greenwood. He knew that if Clough was England manager then his days as the dictator were over.
Clough charismatic man with strong principles.....nothing wrong with that.....
Anecdotes about Clough, such as this, are like gems to be treasured.
I always think they sound funnier when people impersonate the way he spoke.
Good Brian Clough impression.
There will never be another Brian Clough. He was a one off, the greatest ever manager, always in the top one 😎👍🏻
Clive Tyldesley's impression of Cloughie is one of the best I've heard
Dean saunders one is funny
Mark crossley is just as good lol
I was there in the main stand on his last day at Forest as a manager. It was a very sad occasion.
By giving way and buying the tie he 'owned' Clive forever. Still Clough did buy the tie. Strange personality Mr Clough. He pulled much the same stunt with the Forest coach driver once. this music... it´s sooo creepy
Its not the BBC, it was from a website called ChannelBee.com which Tim Lovejoy and others from Soccer Am were involved with back in 2008/9.
Don’t like the music it’s sounds like something from the woman in black
Blimey , so .... you're awake , yeah ?

Incredible manager,I love listening to Brian Clough stories .
You have to laugh ... Forest could sure do with him now ...
This comment isn’t ageing well
Absolutely wonderful story, wonderfully told.
Standards are important. You’re there to work and if you look smart you’ll feel smart.
He turns lads into men what a legend who wouldn't wanna play under his tenure ship
Leeds utd
I remember watching Forest v my side, Cardiff City, not so long after he took over and they were different gravy. I guessed then they would go onto glory but didn't think they would do quite as well. Clough is legend of the game and badly missed by us, the fans
So he gave me a pound note 😂 the nostalgia. I still have a cheeky pound note. How can u not? It's good to look back on simpler times
Lovely! 🤣
Standards, on and off the pitch.
this story has me beaming 12 at night, being all alone. What a man!
i thought at the end he was going to say.."it has to be a plain tie" with clive having some fancy design one on :P
Ha ha, fantastic! Loved this story and so typical of Cloughie!
Fantastic story ,keep them coming regards Australia
Fantastic bloke. Pity there aren't more around like Mr Brian Clough these days in football.
Agreed...we'd have much less of the shameful antics from so-called "stars" too.
He`s fine as a commentator but annoys the hell out of me cos he always says Alec Ferguson instead of ALEX , I remember in snooker , John Virgo always said Alec Higgins, equally annoying !!!
I love any Brian Clough story its infectious. What a legend of the game...
Look up the story about the getto blaster and Wimbledon. The funniest ever 👍👍👍
Cloughie needed Taylor though. As a team they were the best. E.g the signing of Archie Gemmil, nurturing Robbo and buying Francis. Genius
Excellent story, Clive Tyldesley always seems to enjoy commentating on the game and for his natural enthusiasm and love of the game he is my favourite commentator..
Brian Clough a one of a kind, great story
The voice of the champions league nights.
clive the legend getting told off by another legend.......classic
Not for me Clive.
You’ve got to say hand on heart one of Englands greatest ever mangers ..charismatic ..belligerent all rolled into one. He will be spoken about for ever more in the game..True LEGEND ⚽️
Clive T sounded like the bloke Gordon Brittas from Brittas Empire when trying to mimmick Brian C.
the best english commentator i've listenned to. too bad i don't get to listen to him that often in our region's sport network ..
Best commentator ever Mr Tyldesley
Fantastic story! Legend of a man Brian Clough! dx

Wasn't Clive Tyldesley in Coronation Street???
You are thinking of Richie Benaud and he was cricket, anyway...
Get your hands out of your pockets young man. 😂
Great days. Loved going to watch Forest in those days, we were mainly hopeless apart from Duncan McKenzie but good atmosphere at games despite small crowds. BC was like a breath of fresh air on and off the field!!
We still miss you Brian :(
The stupid background music really ruins this video
The best England manager we never had.
If your going to do it, do it with style! Great man, difficult, but great....
That was brilliant 😂
Clough was such an original. There are very few left in our modern PC world.
It’s like the scene in Casino where Ace wants an equal number of blueberries in each muffin. Top managers in any area know that it’s the details that’ll make or break you.
In today’s age the reporter would say they were bullied into buying the tie and the manager would have to refund them and apologise publicly...
Cloughie gave him a quid to buy it!
Thats hilarious
Anyone else you would not believe such a story, but with brian clough you would.
Always glad he never managed england
Nor a bad story but personally I can't stand Clive Tyldesleys commentary style..so clichéd and corny
Cloughy did all that to work you out and see if you had anything about yer
With all the stories I've heard about Brian Clough I'm surprised he I didn't ask for the money back
Absolute legend, his achievements are outstanding - he's one of the greatest football men this country has ever seen.
Brian Clough wasn't bad either!
great story, keep em coming
I take it the Rolling Stones wasn't Cloughie's favourite group.
bRIAN THE BUFF cLOUTH TOTAL LEGEND BABE THANKS BUDDY ENJOY THE PROMOTION!!!
Clive couldn't take the hint after the second time.
He sounds like his voice is 'put on'
simply the best commentator in the world.

Great videos but the irritating intro music goes on far too long. Just saying
Cloughie sounds like the funniest guy ever.

Great story 🙄
Clive Tyldesley no 1 commentator by far pitty he will not be on our telly much at the moment
I'm sure someone would've made money out of BC stories like the time he had a cup of tea etc
Clive musta forgoten his tie in qatar.
great story
Only Brian could do things like that!
