    Brilliant model. You must have the patience of a saint cutting out and gluing all those cardboard sections into place. And multi tasking, painting while on your mobile - awesome ;)

      +Ian Wayne Well as I always say for me when it comes to making customs it's takes as long as it takes, I deliberately never set myself a time limit so that I can take my time and make sure it comes out how I want it to :)

    Very nice work. Might try this myself but with a 2005 Emperor

    Both this emperor and the big-headed one in the background are very impressive! Say what you will about the paradigm daleks, I think they have an excellent large and imposing look to them. It's a shame they never used them to their full potential- I know Daleks have no concept of elegance, but the BBC purposefully chose a design that had function over form, so why not USE the function? (Mainly speaking about the interchangeable arms.)

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  4 года назад

      I think the plan probably was to introduce the function later on but they never really got the chance given the strong adverse fan reaction to them, like many things it makes sense to introduce first and then explore later on, rather than do it all in one go

      Thanks and it's mostly down to practice & patience, my skills didn't get to where they are today overnight after all. With a few exceptions I've pretty much spent almost every day for the last 6 years doing something related to customs in order to keep my skills up and even now I'm still learning

    I thought it was much more blue in the episode, or does it look purple due to the camera ?

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  7 лет назад +1

      It is blue in the episode but I decided to go with a purple colouring just to give it a more defined look separate from the other paradigm daleks

    How do you get the bumps on the daleks right ?because i have been trying to get that right but i can't please tell :D

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  9 лет назад

      +who1011 If you mean paint them without getting the paint over the edges then on I use a fine paint brush combined with a steady hand, atleast two coats, but most of all taking my time, on a full Dalek just one side takes anywhere between 20-40 minutes for just one coat, and finally practice...
      And even then I still makes mistake so you've got to always be prepared for that

    I'm hoping to start doing customising projects myself, have you got any advice for me?

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  9 лет назад

      +Origin Gamer Well it varies from custom to custom but general advice:
      1. Always take your time, the longer you spend on a custom the better it will turn out
      2. A lot of the time less is more when it comes to customs, don't overdo things especially like weathering.
      3. Don't worry if your first customs don't come out as well as you would like, practice is a VERY large part of customising.
      4. Feedback from other is always good but as long as you're happy with the finished product don't take some peoples criticisms to heart too much :)

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  9 лет назад

      +Origin Gamer I just tried to take a look and it's been blocked by BBC worldwide on copyright grounds, possibly because of music or video clips from episodes used? I've had this problems before myself, your best bet is to edit the video to cut out the part that's caused the copyright trigger.

    I was watching this, and thinking, "Man, I'm one sexy dude."
    Then I thought, "Hey, why don't I make an Emperor Dalek myself?" Granted, I don't have the Patrol ship base, but I'm pretty good with cardboard, so I'll give a 2005 Emperor a whirl.

    I was curious as to what type of paint you use?

    • @CaptainJimiPie
      @CaptainJimiPie  9 лет назад

      +john macdonald I mainly work in acrylics with metallic colours done using spray paints and sharpies, however a lot of people dislike acrylics as they don't leave a smooth finish unlike model paints, but it works for me so I stick with it :)

      +Deano Henwood I mainly work in acrylics but use sharpies and spray paints for metallic colours, however a lot of people prefer model paints to acrylics as they leave a smooth finish which acrylics don't, but I don't get on with models paints so I still with acrylics

      Thanks for the sub and if you meant the Eternity Clock Emperor then yes I have seen him, one day I do have plans to build a custom model of him with the lights and everything but due to the size it would be and the space I would need to build it it's not something you should expect to see anytime soon!
