I am 52 yrs old. Listening to the future that Elon will accomplish, makes me sad that I will not live long enough to see the full realization of his endeavors. At the same time, I am VERY HAPPY that I am alive to witness the accomplishments he has already achieved and will achieve in my life time. If I live long enough to witness the first human mission to mars, I will have died a happier man! This man makes me want to live longer! BTW, I was born in 1969. The year we landed on the moon. Maybe I will die the year we land on mars?
MY PLAN, I WILL PASS IN A FUTURE YEAR AND GO TO HEAVEN, IN HEAVEN I PLAN ON FILLING OUT THE PROPER PAPER WORK AND CLASSES AND BE BORN ON MARS, TO GIVE ELON A HELPING HAND
"If you want the future to be good, you must make it so; take action to make it so, and it will be. " 1:06:00 to the end. I love this man for restoring my faith in humanity.
You do know that Musk says that while not caring about safety issues in Tesla factories causing their Tesla workers to lose their limbs permanently or not carrying out chemical safety classes which caused many workers to lose their eye sight permanently? And yes the kicker is, Musk tried to hide the worker injuries are still continuing to this day despite Musk saying something like he supports free speech. What faith in humanity was there when it requires sacrificing people?
Watching this video, I have to say that Chris Anderson is an outstanding and amazing interviewer. All questions were totally on point and not only interesting but also different to what we have heard before from Elon. Throughout the interview, one could see the underlying structure and guidance which made it easy to listen and follow along. And one thing that especially stood out: He rarely interrupted but still managed to get all the necessary information while not digressing from the main topics. I watched a 1 hour long interview, enjoyed every second and am stunned afterwards to a point where not writing a comment simply isn't a possibility. That's what interviews should be like. That's quality.
I agree with Elon. I really hope we will be able to solve and cure mental health disorders and I hope we will be able understand more about the brain and understand more about the mind in five to ten years (thats my estimate). This interview gives me hope and I hope Neuralink will be safe and I hope it will help people who are going through tough times. This was a great interview. Thank you Elon and I hope you succeed!
Such a horrible interviewer, rude at some questions, didn’t let Elon conclude his line of thinking many times and tried to teach Elon about managing his business at some point.
not only that, but the interviewer also had a quite good grasp on the technologies Elon mentioned, with special atention on the self driving AI architectures. Surprised me considering that he's head of TED talks and not a tech guy
This was the most important video to watch this year. The pessimism and non action circulating in today's culture has kept us back from a bigger vision and enthusiasm for the future. Let's go claim a better future together.
You can't change the future, you can only change the present reality. Buying electric cars could lead to a sustainable and better future, but it might as well do the opposite. There is no way to be sure. Electric cars could for example lead to a massive increase in traffic because suddenly driving around your car is almost free using solar power and that increase in traffic would produce more secondary CO2 than it saves by ditching gasoline, like fixing roads (asphalt -> super high in CO2), building more bridges (concrete -> super high in CO2), wear and production of tires, etc etc. IMO the best way to fix the future is a drastic decrease in human population to levels where we can live in symbiosis with nature and let everyone enjoy a happy and healthy life. We just don't fulfill the requirements to be an advanced species so long there is unnecessary suffering. If we can't fix our most basic of needs for all, why would you want to spread such a toxic culture into space? We're not worthy (yet). We have to grow up first and then join the galactic community. One step at a time.. they're probably watching us and there is no way they would let a species loose into space that is at the verge of using nuclear bombs against each other. How stupid is that.. and if you believe you're safe from earthlings on Mars you're totally wrong. Nukes can reach Mars without a problem. In fact I'm sure some countries will setup spy satellites around Mars the moment it is colonized and then claim they are building weapons of mass destruction to justify an invasion.
How about in order for the future to be good, the rich must pay their taxes just like everybody else, and they must stop corrupting politics all around the world. How about we start with those fundamentals instead of making a billionaire into some kind of holy deity.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What about admitting energy through the air like Tesla had spoken about so many years ago at 432 Hz Either pulling the energy directly from the atmosphere and re-distributing it as a pulse through the air that can then charge batteries indefinitely as storage and for usage
So far this has been one of the best Elon’s interviews, happy that the interviewer is knowledgeable about Musk’s endeavors and questions are somewhat interesting. It shows respect for Elon’s time.
HyperLoop? Tesla Ventilators? Tesla Semi? Tesla Truck? Robo Taxi? Boring brinks? Tesla Sled? Tesla Pod? Tesla Bot? Armor glass? Solar powered MegaChargers? SolarCity Solar Roof Tiles? Tesla buy out of SolarCity? Market manipulation? Insane data mining of Tesla drivers? Sells pollution for profit? Never worked for PayPal? Corporate welfare at taxpayer expense? Selling 2021 cars with 2017 batteries? Elon Musk is like Elizabeth Holmes but he hasn't been caught yet.
So true, I ask people who doesn't follow Elon Musk what they are excited about for the future, they reply nothing and has a pessimistic view on life. I used to be the same until I start following Elon's companies.

I love his closing line, "Take action to make it good, and then it will be." So many people get this wrong. We're in a generation full of people who complain about everything as if it's beyond them, rather than forging themselves into the solution to the problems that keep them up at night. I wish more people followed this advice. Be the change you want to see in the world. It's so simple. Stop whining and get to work.
And Elon knows this. Hence why he has zeroed in one one of our main achilles heels at the moment; Twitter. This emerging technology and it's tendency to cater to the worst of human nature is preventing us from even having reasonable conversations about these solutions.
There's such a thing as ignorance. People are constantly taking action, but they're not taking the right ones because idiots keep giving stupid advice.

I think the most profound things he said in this interview[49:06] was the move away from representational democracy to a direct democracy, having laws that are short enough for people to understand, and making it harder to make laws than to get rid of laws. Excellent interview!
Wait! So he has a thought where in democracy, should be much harder to create a law than harder to get rid of a law. So, making law should be hard and get rid of one should be easier. Not equal harder? Direct democracy not representative, so the people would vote straight for a law to pass or not. How about people with different IQ? Make simple laws so people can understand them. So what about loopholes if the law is not well detailed. Making simple law, is that means people in Mars will be people who won't reason well in order to give them easy to understand laws.
@@mylifewithaspiehubby I don't think you need laws to be ridiculously complex, like they are now, to avoid loopholes. Also, there's plenty of loopholes now even though the laws are ridiculously complex.
@Tay Zk I agree with you, today's laws are very scramble. I just took his thoughts of having a short simple law literal so I get concerned about a well detailed law is not short even to cover everything and no leave space for loopholes.
Representational democracy is certainly horrible. But, direct democracy is worse. The problem is that any time you allow any group of people to control the lives of another group of people (even by a Kumbaya voting process), you inevitably end up with despotism, slavery and death. The only solution is a culture that legitimizes opting out of ANY political jurisdiction at ANY time. The only legitimate laws require unanimous consent. If 99 out of 100 people vote for something, it should only apply the 99, and the 1 outlier should be free to opt out.

"There is a whole generation coming through who seem really sad about the future. What would you say to them?" "Well I think if you want the future to be good, you must make it so. Take action, to make it good, and it will be." -Elon Musk
The only reason the next generation would be doubtful about the future is because they're being brainwashed by the elites in power. (and for some reason we just keep voting in the same puppets and doing nothing about it) It's truly fucking sad to see.

I have a complex relationship with Elon Musk. Generally I don’t trust people with too much power, but I feel some hope with this guy having the power that he does.
My hope is far more cautious than most~~~ let us see if Elon can back up his words with concrete actions and positive results~~~ I have heard the same swan song and dance from others over the years~~~ I do hope this person can deliver what his mouth tells us~~~~ if so it will be a first~~~
He doesn't have that much power that's the issue If he did.. SLS would be cancelled If he did then Biden would only talk about Tesla. They didn't even turn up to the Austin plant launch
I think it's healthy to have your skepticism. However, what I have found is that for great things to happen, it often takes one significant leader to lead people, for the better or for the worse. I'm not convinced that humans can make great progress without significant people taking charge. I've seen it in business and in politics.
@@RisinShinePV But he HAS backed up his words with concrete actions, time and time again. Go back to 2010 or before and check what he said (e.g. Master Plan part 1). He has made things happen just as he said. No reason to believe that it won't continue. He is very obviously working hard to see these things come into fruition, when he could have years ago retreated back to a Yacht and lived like a King for the rest of his days. Really, this is a very important point of evidence: At this point there is NO reason for him to work at all (let alone 60+ hours per week) other than for these visions that he has stated again and again
Elon is an awesome human being. People tend to define him in terms of his wealth but in reality I think money is just a means to an end for him. Every couple of hundred years or so someone like him comes along to propel humanity forwards.
how? :D by being pathetic? xD his projects are whack: satellite internet that's both overpriced and slower than US average, his hyperloop that is less efficient than one quarter of a subway system of roughly equal size. Hello Big fan Thanks and welcome to my business page, trust you've been following my RUclips and also put into practice what you watch! guess you don't know who I am?
Loved this Interview. Elon's vision is so inspring. I want to have a future talk on how all the incentives : Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink,& Boring Company converge and synergize
I was talking w my gf and i realized that Elon is actually building a future today with the big picture @ the forefront and every company he has created or collaborated with is only a cog in a much bigger machine. He knows humanity plays a huge role in his vision of the future. He's mentioned in the past that there were once great empires that have been advanced technologically only to crumble from within and collapse. Back into the "dark ages" less than they once were. This usually has to do with the insatiable appetite of the ego and its hunger for power. He recognizes the social fabric of our democracy is frayed and tattered yet still intact albeit the rip that is growing at an alarming rate with each election cycle. Thats why i think he feels it is necessary to embark on this communication endeavor with twitter. Why there is so much pushback is strange. Who's really pushing? What are in the data servers @twitter that compels the powerful to take an advesarial stance? Was there a coordinated effort between the Govt. Tech and Media to elevate political figures and diminish others? How active of a role did twitter take? If any? Was there election meddling going on? Any contribution to a political campaign has to be filed with the F.E.C. and what price can be placed on the power of shaping public opinion? Certainly there must have been a conscious effort by many to maintain a relatively tight storyline surrounding COVID-19. I wonder what their direct messages (via twitter) to one another would bring to light? It makes me think that Elon might be making a lot of people nervous right now. Cant wait to see how it all unfolds.

I have seen many interviews of Elon but I believe Chris is the best interviewer for Elon specifically.
I think lex fridman is. But both are good
Watching this video, I have to say that Chris Anderson is an outstanding and amazing interviewer.

Do you see a better future in putting a microchip in your brain, in having robots everywhere? I don't. It's a terrifying dystopia.
"If you want the future to be good, you must make it so." I love that quote.
Make it so number 1
I loved that one too. It's enough for have an important and useful life meaning

I agree with you, today's laws are very scramble.

Chris was the worst interviewer. Constant interruptions. Watch him slowly fade away during Elon's answers as his mind wonders to the next question.
@@anypercentdeathless I agree with the interruptions and the quick question jumps, but I think it may have been due to time constraints. Although it seemed Elon was ready to go much more in depth with some of his answers.

Elon is a perfect example for never giving up on ur dreams,he just constantly being consistent with his dreams as well as managing side by side other activities, hats off to that Elon
The honest and candid reply of ELON during this interview is worth missing your breakfast.
"There is a whole generation coming through who seem really sad about the future. What would you say to them?"
"Well I think if you want the future to be good, you must make it so. Take action, to make it good, and it will be." -Elon Musk

The only reason the next generation would be doubtful about the future is because they're being brainwashed by the elites in power.

It's truly fucking sad to see.
Elon Musk saying thank you right after, at the very end, was epic af ngl. The level of sincerity where he, rightfully so, believes he's making a real tangible difference on our world and future was incredible . Power on Musk, power on
He is delirious about self-driving cars. “most of the time with no interventions “ I am buying a HuMVE3 to protect himself from all your stupid-cars.
Hopefully amongst the people in the comments, and those watching this video, we'll have other individuals ready and willing to build towards a better future for themselves and others. Don't leave Elon to have all the fun lol.
You can totally imagine seeing this video in a museum in 30 years and people will struggle to remember what life was like before we had cheap and unlimited energy, robot helpers, self-driving cars and rockets that take us anywhere in the planet in 30 minutes.

“If you care about the reality of goodness rather than the perception of it.” Exactly what I’ve been trying to argue for two years now.
IMHO of course, Mr. Musk has lost all track of what is actually good. Instead he pursues Inner World delusions that feed his narcissism and profound lack of empathy, aka psychopathy. Just my opinion!

My sister came over the other day when I was watching a SpaceX update. She didn't know what it was and I said something very similar! I remember saying "don't miss this stuff... these things will change the entire world in a decade."
Very inspiring. He takes results achieved by the USA and sells these to China.
Like Chinese Americans cannot Do that already.
Exactly same thought was running through my mind as I was watching this interview. We are witnessing history, in front of our eyes!
Remember when in the height of the pandemic the height of death by covid 19 he was threatening the city where his Tesla factory is, threatening to pack up and leave because his freedom to keep the business open with mask wearing was being violated 🤣
History tells us that empires have mostly destroyed themselves from within. To quote Pogo, "We have met the enemy and he is us."
Great and inspiring interview with an interviewer that goes beyond asking the obvious questions. Showing these things to my kids to inspire them,
‘If you want a good future, go out and make it so.’ A very simple but very powerful and actionable message.
Thanks Elon for providing hope and inspiration to humanity!

Wonder how many entrepreneurs, geniuses and people who will one day change the world in different areas are now inspired and committed to follow their dreams by seeing Elon make his dream happen, one day they will say they did it because of him

Wonderful interview, respectfully asked and considered answers. Awesome excitement levels for all mankind. Even if only a fraction of his plans come off he's already done so much for humankind.
I have a complex relationship with Elon Musk.
Generally I don’t trust people with too much power, but I feel some hope with this guy having the power that he does.
My hope is far more cautious than most~~~ let us see if Elon can back up his words with concrete actions and positive results~~~ I have heard the same swan song and dance from others over the years~~~ I do hope this person can deliver what his mouth tells us~~~~ if so it will be a first~~~
He doesn't have that much power that's the issue
If he did.. SLS would be cancelled
If he did then Biden would only talk about Tesla.
Sounds like you 'instinct' is being biased.
Him trying to dominate the electric car market through charging infrastructure. Oh and the autopilot that still doesn't work xD he is A HACK
He is like no one before ,most rich have no regard for average Joe ,Elon the savior of humanity

Loved this Interview. Elon's vision is so inspring. I want to have a future talk on how all the incentives : Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink,& Boring Company converge and synergize
@Mother Goosekeeper 😂
To start I was intrigued to hear about AI! I had no idea I would end with existential crisis
