I have the 2018 CB1000r and always had a starting issue if not being charged the night before usage. Both with the original YTZ10S and a second battery. Had to push uphill and starting on second gear many times. Makes bike life less fun. I mentioned for the service work shop last three services but never got any help. My next try will be a noco NLP14. Thx for the video. Greetings from Sweden.
Do you have a tracker? I believe this is the main cause, as many other bikes have the same issue and always due to the tracker draining the battery. Since I have changed my battery to the Noco NLP14 I haven’t had an issue, but I do keep it on a trickle charge. Thanks for the support Sven! 🙏🏾
Hello, and thx for response V79! I don't have any accessories no tracker that I know of just the Honda standard anti theft. I measured the "switched off" current and its just 115 micro amp. I park indoors over nights +15 C in the garage and I dont drive or park outdoors when its less than +2-3 degrees C.. So characteristics of a Lithium sounds like what I need. Quick to recover charge and excellent start current. I almost wonder if I could live without a new Lithium compatible charger based on the battery description?
Standard practice, Keep a strong battery tender and keep it connected after long rides, you use 40-60% of your battery on several rides and you have to keep cycling the battery by using its charge and recharging it to keep it healthy. always keep it on the tender when you not using it. i recommend antigravity lithium ion.
@@Kels14B I was regularly using a ctec charger to the old battery, still had problems. With the new battery all problems gone. I bought a charger also to the NLP 14 but never needed to use it. Sold the bike later so I cant give a long term verdict.
Nice one, if you take good care of them they will last! Will be doing some big mods on my CB1000R these coming weeks, be sure to keep an eye out! Thanks for the support 🙏🏾
It starts first time, but as I previously mention, I don’t think is the battery, I think is the tracker draining it. I’ve been using the bike more now as the weather has improved and starts first time ALWAYS! And I am not plugging in to a trickle charger. Hope this helps.
@@v79moto Thank you for your reply! That’s fantastic! I don’t use any accessories on mine, went through 2 batteries before, a lithium Bosh and an original Yuasa, and now gonna get the Noco lithium! Thank you very much again for fast reply! Mine is a 2019
Thanks for your great review. If the Noco NLP14 needs to be jump started, would a regular jump start charger do the trick? Also, in cold winters, does the battery need to left trickle charging? Thanks for any info with regard to these questions
Thank you Nelson 🙏🏾 Yes, I believe any jump starter should do the job, as the jump starter is to provide power to start the bike not to charge the battery. Regarding the trickle charge, if you have a tracker, you will probably need to connect to a trickle charger in cold weather, I do. But if you don’t have a tracker or any devices that will drain the battery when bike is switched off, you should be fine with a trickle charger connected. Hopes this helps.
It is indeed. Interestingly, the old battery - Shido lithium - is on form, haven’t charged, just left in the garage and is holding its charge perfectly. I honestly believe it is the tracker draining it.
Excellent video…super informative, to the point & solid delivery. 🙏🏽
Thank you Andrew 🙏🏾

In Europe you can also get the Unibat ULT2 for aprox. 100€. 300 CCA and 5Ah. Also has a BMS.
That’s pretty good! Thanks for sharing.
Hello,
May I ask you how is the starting of the bike now after few month of usage? Always starts first time, or still not really? Thank you!

500A for NOCO NLP is not CCA ... it is "starting power" .... I did not find CCA for any NOCO battery :)
Are you winding me up?! 😂 🤙🏾

Is the battery still holding up well?

I got the nlp20 do they hold up against water and being under water
Nice! Is it compatible with the CB1000R? Should have checked, but possibly more expensive right?
