Imagine it's like a square paper when you're watching the map from top. And every corner is the point where the pointy parts of the polygons can be. They can't be anywhere else. If it's still, it's basically okay when you know where the polygons are. But if it's a moving object, it's kinda deforming itself in a way that there can be a gap between them and that can make an invisible wall. Here, it's specifically a seeling wall, because the platform has a seeling. And that seeling has basically infinite range if there's nothing above it. So the floor does stop that range to go infinitelly up. I recommend you to watch a video from pannenkoek2012 where he explains into details about them. I can't really explain this in short and it's almost midnight here.
