- Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Wyatt Russell appeared at D23 Expo 2022 as Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ confirmed its lineup. ‘Extra’s Katie Krause spoke to them about their ‘ragtag’ team and if they’re heroes or villains - and Sebastian dropped a funny secret about Anthony Mackie!

I think Sebastian has said more here than he has in previous media interviews. Maybe it feels like that because he's the among [if not, THE MOST] veteran cast member in the bunch. I also noticed the twinge of disappointment in his voice when he said, "Even I thought his character ended in a good place, but I don't know..."

but that's the funny about thunderbolts, is a team with grey compass, they are anti-heroes. bucky was never a full hero or avenger, he starts to understand himself only now in FATWS and still he's in debt to the government, doing therapy, etc. for me it's much more interesting him being in thunderbolts as character development, working with the other totally different characters, than him being captain america's supporting character again in cap 4. I LOVE sebastian and anthony together, but this will be good for both characters, and also bucky was *the leader* in the comics from the recent thunderbolts team (2016)
@@murilo_hm valid points. I also like to think of him as kind of the Rick Flagg of the group. Granted, he's much more than that being that aside from his decades of combat experience to being the right hand man for 2 proper Captain Americas, Bucky MAY be on paper the best man to lead this group of individuals on the battlefield.
I know deep down some are thinking this team should be led by another individual-ZEEEEEE-MOHHHHH!!!

...but putting comic book nods aside, I'd rather take Bucky's expansively impressive pedigree over Zemo's. Not saying he's a slouch at all but BUCKY is the better person to lead the team.
He looked and sounded like he did NOT want to be there. Maybe just tired. Those events go long and he’s not that young. Still incredibly hot, but not young. You can look good and still feel your age.
@@murilo_hm I think out of all of them he’s probably more hero like than the rest BUT has alot of resentment towards the govn. 1st he was experimented on than was made out to be public enemy #1, then is basically put on a leash and put into forced therapy etc and forced to work for them until they deem he’s made up his debt which lets be honest the American government in comics and in real life has ALWAYS been corrupt in various places. People are broken we are not perfect and therefore it’s inevitable that there are gonna be some pretty messed up people working in the government.

Omgosh yes!! Like if it’s an anti hero group that doesn’t make sense that he’d be a thunderbolt NOW!! Well I guess the healing journey is difficult and you take drops down, I guess they can work that into the movie for his char :-p just hope they don’t do it in bullshit way like they did for Wanda! Also makes sense why they didn’t change his name to white wolf at end of series!
I think the correct term for the Thunderbolts is Anti-Hero. They are not fully bad nor fully good. They all live in the gray spectrum. But they won’t let things go into chaos.
Marvel will try to distance them as far away from suicide squad as possible

Technically I heard it was gonna be Flo’s character Instead even though in the comics they him as the leader as well as Hawkeye I’m hoping he’d be in it as well.
@@deborahjones7409 yes some of them are anti-heroes, most of them are reformed or redeemed, villainy is not what drives this team or even Bucky.

Like Seb said, Bucky did leave on a good note in tfatws when he was enjoying himself at the cookout 😊 so Im just trying to figure out how does he fit inside this team. How does he get there in the first place?
It saddens me that Sam and Bucky wont be together in Cap 4 but please that would be awesome if Mackie could at least come on set to be with Seb even though he's not in the movie. 😄
I think Bucky is the guard dog. He is the only person on the team with a moral compass. He might just be there to watch everyone. Maybe on behalf of General Ross. Since the team is named after Thunderbolt Ross.
He's probably undercover working for Sam Wilson.

@@wkadalie Yeah, I kind of think he's supposed to be the guard dog somewhat, to make sure they don't go to far from center. But, he was the Winter Soldier, so they know he'll get the job done.

This team will be very interesting as each member has a relationship with at least one other member on the team so lots of chemistry, also will be interesting to see how ghost fits in with them all. Also expecting abomination and Zemo to make appearances

WHile I like the idea for Thunderbolts, I was hoping that the winter soldier really was to become the White Wolf. That his story would take him back to Wakanda and develop from there. I was also hoping that he would have happened in Wakanda Forever. I think I hope too much.
no, that doesn't makes sense, *bucky will ALWAYS be the winter soldier,* just because was his codename when he was an assasin it doesn't mean that he can't reframe that name like he did in the comics, he's always the winter soldier no matter what team he's on just like natasha will always be the black widow, even after being a russian assassin she managed to be a hero with the avengers. and also, white wolf is another character in the comics the nickname was only a reference to t'challa's brother

Sebastian was flexing his years of experiences with MARVEL, still didn't disclose anything but he tease as much. You can tell that Julia and Wyatt were a little bit flabbergasted and didn't know what to tell, then Sebastian came in (I rarely see him talk in MARVEL's junk press).

We have multiple shows and movies in between now and this Thunderbolts film, we will likely get an answer. Not everything needs to be answered now, this film is still 2 years away

ok but why is john walker on this team w bucky and yelena and the taskmaster, all of whom arent bad ppl but were forced into doing bad things, everything john walker did was through his own consciousness, like it makes no senese
Why is John Walker on this team? Because Walker also isn’t a bad person. You seemed to have forgotten that he HELPED Sam and Bucky in the finale of their show, he also saved hostages. He’s not some evil villain. He’s just a guy who was trying his best and put in a position where he didn’t handle the pressure well. But he’s not evil. Like every character on this team, he has his own trauma. He didn’t do anything that plenty of heroes didn’t also do, lest you forgot that Clint Barton responded to losing his loved ones by going on a 5 year murder spree that everyone seemed to have forgiven him for. His body count is higher than anything Walker ever did. And hell, Yelena literally killed a bunch of innocent guards and buried all the prisoners under an avalanche when breaking her father out of prison, and she wasn’t forced to do it, she did out of her own free will for her own purposes, she was happily working for Val and had no trouble going to kill Clint because she blamed him for Nat’s death, so let’s not pretend she’s somehow just always forced and not responsible for her own actions.
Also, there’s other characters on the team who weren’t forced, like Alexei who was very enthusiastic about all the bad things he did. I don’t see you calling out that it makes no sense that Alexei is there.
This team isn’t just for people who were at some point forced to do things. It can be for anyone. And all of these characters have their trauma and are broken soldiers serving systems that screwed them over one way or another. Mind control or indoctrination, they were all used and harmed.
