Loved this episode! I think my favorite episode aside from the episode where you described and dissected your biggest fight. I know the premise of the show is to dive into your past, and even through that you do talk about current things, but it was nice listening to you guys talk present tense? Does that make sense? Not sure but great episode hah.

But your listeners know your past, so hearing about current stuff is okay because now it’s like _we_ know you too, so it still fits the theme to talk about your current lives. And any new listeners can go back and listen to older episodes (that’s what I’ve been doing; I didn’t know about you all until the Trixie episode). Of course you’ll still want to drop tidbits from your past and it’s probably a good idea to re-mention some of the really crucial parts for the newer people. That’s just what I think.
I completely understand this podcast. I am almost 38 (and a gay man). My best friend (3 years younger) grew up on the same street as me (we’ve known each other since he was 3 and I was 6) and we both turned out to be gay. He and I _also_ had a period where we weren’t close (ours was for ~7 years during high school and college).
Hold on to this (your friendship) for dear life! There is nothing more amazing than being gay and having a gay best friend that you grew up with! Having those shared childhood experiences is such a precious thing.
He and I had our worst fight this past March. It is still not settled. It’s so heartbreaking thinking it will never be the same. He feels betrayed and I feel betrayed; it’s awful. Spending 30+ years knowing someone and 14 years of being best friends and then one day-poof-it’s gone… or at least different. We live on different coasts. I will see him again in July. I am hoping things eventually get better but honestly not sure if it’ll ever be the same. That’s why I say to hold on to it! Don’t let each other go, Joe!
