It should be great if in a future FIRMWARE UPDATE we could be able to lower up to -5 sharpness on the GH6 & S5II AND X to get that Cinematic SOFT texture like the GH5 when recording on VLOG.
ISO "frequency"? Who uses that term? ASA/ISO in film is the sensitivity of the emulsion to light, in digital cameras is equivalent to gain - no frequencies anywhere!?
Its as if your read my mind. Wanted to get a better understanding of Dule Iso. And how the reduce Noise. Always enjoying watching your videos. Starlight to the point and informative
You can do down to ISO 500 / 400 / 320 (vlog) with the extended ISO setting. It is the same in any other profile ( -1/2). This can be very useful if your ND filter is not sufficient, you have forgotten it, etc.. Cheers ✌
The shortcut for ISO does not behave exactly as you described. I'm unable to jump just between 640 and 4000. I can get it to stick to 640 in Low, but in High it always goes into High Auto. What's causing this?
Personally I mostly use 640 even in some low light situations because even if I lift up exposure in post +1 or +2 EV it still gives me great results. The main reason for this is that I find a bit difficult to recover slightly overexposed highlights when recording using iso 4000 (like some concert situations, especially skin tones). But overall both image and camera are insane.
Yes, I'm tending to go this route. Also, I find that setting ISO 4000 in low light situations immediately introduces quite a bit of noise - just look at the focus peaking when you switch between 640/4000 to see how much there is!
Btw if you want clean shadows on the S5ii, make sure your scene has enough light for +2EV minimum. This is known as exposing to the right. Depends on your lenses. If you’re sitting at 2.8, then shooting indoors at 4000 iso will get you +1/3 EV. To get the best signal to noise ratio you want at least +2EV. This is so you can bring down the exposure in post which will make the noise floor disappear into the blacks, giving you a clean image. (TLDR ETTR)
Thanks for your video. I have learned a lot about my lumix s5iix from you. But i would like you to make a video about all of the codecs we have for shooting video. Which one is the best for every situation. Please. :P

Hey Caleb great vid, I shoot wedding videos and real estate, somehow I get a substantial amount of noise in V-Log at ISO 4000, however I have the dual native ISO on auto and I adjust it manually, I only shoot in 640 or 4000 does it need to be selected as low or high or can I also manually adjust it? For some reason my ISO 4000 is very noisy. Thank in advance
I have notice this too when i shoot at 4000. My thinking is that with V log you have to have as much light as possible. Then use an ND filter to bring it down so it looks good. When it comes to client work I use the natural profile as I don't want to use V log incase i get footage that is noisy.

This is so you can bring down the exposure in post which will make the noise floor disappear into the blacks, giving you a clean image. @@orinorio1 yes, whenever possible +2EV in VLOG. ETTR is common practice on many film sets for this reason: clean shadows and no noise. Unless your shooting real time lut or natural profile, I advise 2 stops over.
Hello, I only shoot at 640 and 4000 iso in the Vlog and I have a lot of noise in the image, so how is this possible? Regarding the light, it wasn't so bad, and still the image is quite noisy in post-production 🙈
Awesome video, as always, could you please do same video but for GH7? I was filming recently outside 9PM in low light, could not keep low ISO so I got to like 3200 - 6400 and is grainy as... Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks!
Do you have a video about shooting and editing RAW photos on your s5iix? I just got my s5iix and I know flat color profiles are good for dynamic range, but it's almost too flat, I have to put contrast at 100 and saturation on ~35-40 just to get some accurate colors... any tips?
Hey Caleb, thank you for the video. I do videos with a s5iix and have my iso settings set to auto. when shooting with iso 4000, I still find to have some grain in my footage when shooting in bad lighting (on an event for example).. why is that? Thank you :)
Can anyone help me with my camera? When I import MOV files into davinci resolve. They only have audio. And neither MOV or MP4 get imported with metadata. If anyone can solve my issue I will send them money lmao

Better to just stop down aperture for nose performance, but useful for photos I guess

Hello, could we write in a private message and explain the ISO a little better in the Vlog? Thank you very much
@@Ondra_Films 1. look up exposing to the right
2. Only use base iso of 640 or 4000
3. Compensate for light with aperture or ND

For the best possible IQ and flexibility in editing, choose an All-Intra 422 codec. For smaller files, choose Long-GOP.
@@Studiotek Also I have a Sandisk memory card with 170 mbs writing speed, is that ok for those codecs or not even close.

Hi Caleb. What would you say is the highest ISO you'd go in the natural profile?
You didnt talk about the AUTO option? do you ever choose that?
That’s auto iso exposure, gives you less control.
Thank you.
Great tip!
The information in this video is INCORRECT! Please read how it works before you "educate" others...
You gonna elaborate on that?
Can i shoot in Natural Profile and other whit Dual Native Iso in the S5II? Or only in V-log?
I use natural a lot and I don’t stick to the dual ISO’s
Not true, at 4000 there is noise, fine usable noise, but there is noise!
