Thanks for the tips! I just finished booking the family suite for first 4 days and the magnolia for the last 3 days, beginning the first day of summer break over 2024 memorial day weekend! Major score! Thanks again 😊
👏🏼 Nice! You definitely scored! That will be an amazing stay. That’s the way to do it. Have a blast and thank you again for watching and sharing! Happy Memorial Day (2023)!
We did that!!! Stayed at the Contemporary for 99 a night when the Shades was under remodel!!! They even gave us a park view which we could watch the fireworks and the boat parade from our room!!! Great times!!
That’s amazing! I don’t know if you’ve priced those theme park view rooms at contemporary lately 😳 But you got an incredible deal! I’m super jealous lol Hold on to those memories! 💕
Thank You for sharing these tips! We were finally able to get a reservation and it wasnt easy like you said, but we followed what you suggested and were flexible with our dates! You both Rock!!!❤
Thanks for the tips, I booked multiple reservations and asked customer service to consolidate the reservations. Please keep your revised booking number as an arrival mistake was made; however the employees were very accommodating and the error was fixed.
Yes, definitely keep all correspondence and "confirmation" emails in case of any error. I'm glad it was worked out and taken care of by Shades employees!
The Garden Suite also happens to be the Honeymoon Suite, and is usually included in SoG's wedding packages. So unless you are getting married at SoG, you may never see it availiable because it's normally always occupied.
You have a good point there. This was my thought as well so I'll have to ask about it on our next stay. It would at least be nice to pop into the room to see it in person. Fingers crossed one day we can! Thanks, Shawn!
You are correct about being put you up in the Contemporary during the renovations, but it was in the Garden Wing not the Main Tower and you were charged tax. I have stayed at the SoG numerous times before and after renovations. You just can't beat the prices.
Ahh...I read that it was Bay Lake Tower (was that previously called the Garden Wing?) But in either case its the separate tower from the main building where the monorail cuts through. The tax part is a bummer! I didn't know that. Well, I guess it was still a great deal for the inconvenience. I wish we would have known about shades earlier so we could have seen it in its earlier years. We have to agree on the prices too! Thank you for leaving a comment for us and we appreciate you watching!
There are other tips; I have booked rooms with very little advance, in 2022 i stayed during Thanksgiving with less than one week advance booking. Perhaps I should make a video as well; however, my biggest fear is letting the cat out of the bag and then the tips wont work anymore.
I'm sure there are other tips out there. These are the ones that have worked well for us. And, so far, I've never seen a comment less than appreciative for sharing 😊 Thats awesome that you were able to get a suite on Thanksgiving so last minute! But I'm also not surprised that there were cancellations...thanks to the ever changing military schedules we all abide by. My hope is that if the demand ever got too high (again) then Shades would consider expanding so that more deserving members could experience all that is to offer!
I have a question about booking 365 days in advance - I just want to make sure I understand what you said. If I’m planning a trip for December 1-7, 2024 would I need to wait until December 7 if I wanted to book all of the days in a single reservation? Thanks!
You can book any room 365 days in advance of your arrival date. So, for December 1-7 trip you can book the whole trip on December 1. If you can't get it to work on the websites reservation system then just call. Sometimes it doesn't update fast enough on the website. What I was saying was in regards to suites that are much harder to book because there are fewer of them. So if you can only manage to get the suite you want for a day or two then book those first and then come back each day to book the consecutive days as you need them. You can always call Shades to combine your reservations into one as long as the multiple reservations are all under the same type of room if that makes sense. So you can't combine a standard room and a junior suite into one reservation number. But if you have 2 reservation numbers for standard rooms those can be combined into one reservation number. I hope thats a little more clear! It can be confusing for sure!
Well, I would say both wings are equally as far from the buses. The bus stop sits on the bottom level, right in the middle of the property. So, almost underneath the lobby/check in area. If you are hoping to be close to the bus station then you can make that request. Just go onto your reservation online and make a note in the "add comments" section or you can request at the counter when you check in. If theres a room available they will definitely accommodate your request!
Here’s a weird trick that worked for me just this week. I wanted to book Nov 23-25. Only the 24-25 was available. I booked it, then as soon as the reservation was processed, I clicked “change reservation” and added the 23rd-24th and it worked! Not sure if this was a glitch on the site, but it worked and I’ve got the confirmation email about 23-25th reservation.
Yes, if your reservation says 6 guests thats how you will be billed. If you only have 4 guests staying in the room I would make those changes when you check in so that they can correct it. The prices listed on the site for suites covers up to 4 adults. Additional adults will be an extra $15 per person charged for that suites capacity. So, if you book the junior suite the price covers 4 adults...since that room can accommodate 6 people you would add $30 to the price per night listed on the site. I hope that answers your question correctly :)
When we order tickets through Shades of Green we will order them online in advance and they ship them via FedEx to your house 😁 That way you can get them linked to you “my Disney experience” app quickly from home in order to make your park reservations. The sooner you get those the better you’ll feel about your plans!
Thank you for the tips...

@@battlegroundbiscuits It was one of the 2 wings, but I thought it was the remaining one.
Jim
We have two family suites booked. So there is more than one.
I thought there would almost have to be! Thank you for confirming this :)

What time do the reservations open up for the year mark?
At midnight online!

Oh thats interesting! I've never tried that before. Thank you for sharing! Next time we book I'll have to see if we get the same results.

Yes it did answer my question. Thanks! Loving your videos.
Do you normally get your Disney ticket when you get to Shades of Green or before you leave?
