Whew! This was a tough one for me! Have you ever been afraid on a road trip?

    • @MiguelCura
      @MiguelCura 3 года назад +10

"El camino tiene algo que enseñarte." The road has something to teach you.
      This needs explaining.
Seven years ago, I took a walking trip across Spain, spanning 500 miles. Mid-way, I was sore, tired, wounded from bad blisters and ready to give up. Just like your Mom, a priest gave me a benediction and taught me something. "Be open to the lessons of The Road. El Camino has something to teach you. Even your tears and your wounds have something for you to learn."
I'm glad you persevered. It would have been tragic if you had turned around. I'm enjoying your content, so keep on doing what you're doing.

Yes I got caught in an ice storm once in the CA mountains coming from Reno. My windshield iced over and my hands went numb from the cold. It was a sudden one where the temp dropped 20 degrees in about 30 minutes as it started raining. No place to pull over for 45 miles with heavy traffic riding at 25 mph.

Love your channel, I’ve been riding for more years than you’ve been alive, and do a lot of long distance rides. You need to experience storms, and mountains, after a while, it’s just becomes part of it. I feel anxiety, is more of losing confidence, your a strong woman, collect yourself, and move on. Always be prepared for bad weather, slow down, be comfortable. Your motorcycle will perform in the rain much better than you think. Don’t get all tensed up, relax in the rain, you did a great job!!

As we age we become more tolerant of riding in bad weather. A few years back I rode in a hailstorm for 45 minutes, (No windshield, No helmet, at night) with left hand up to shield eyes from injury. Was glad I made it home safely and dried my leathers. It was a country road with no safe place to pull over. May the Good Lord Bless and keep you young lady.

You’re a strong and awesome young lady one thing you learned when you’re in the military is prior planning prevents piss poor performance. You always review your road trip to make sure you know and understand it’s a route you’re going to be traveling. You also have to make sure you pack the necessary stuff that can keep you hydrated, calm, and make you feel like you’re still in charge of the situation. If you can help it never embark on a trip without having a good understanding of the route you’re taking it can be the difference between success and failure. You’re strong and very smart so you got this trip and any future trip just do the prior planning and understand your route and you’ll feel confident 99% of the time.

I’m the same way. I’m fine on the highway, even with heavy traffic. I get the most anxious/nervous at an interstate exchange where (like the 285/85/20 exchange south of Atlanta where all 3 interstates merge. Roads everywhere Like damn spaghetti lol) I get nervous as hell cause lots of times you have a very short time to read the signs, check your side lanes, and merge in time for your exit. I remedy that feeling by trying to be in those type of areas during lower traffic times (mid-morning, mid-afternoon, or at night)

Day came to head out, it was raining in Biblical proportions! Seriously. We rode in those rains clear through Rockford! We were hoping to make Greenbay, which is normally an 8 hour run tops, it took us 14 freaking hours to get to Greenbay. Still another 4 hours to our destination. We spent the night in Greenbay, then headed out next morning with clear skies. We understand your anxiety and frustration. This kind of riding is exhausting!. On our return trip, we did the iron butt thing all the way home!..I had a Heritage and my wife had a Yamaha Silverado. I'm getting ready to make this run again next month solo....This time on my new to me 2018 RoadGlide! Love your channel! Glad everyone is whole! Stay safe!!

Hey Queen I feel you about that rain, I rode from Michigan to Atlanta. From home to Cincinnati there was smooth sailing. From Cincinnati to Knoxville Tennessee I dealt with the rain in stop and go traffic. Can you emagine trying to hold up a 900 lb bike in the rain. After spending a night in Knoxville, I proceeded to atl and I got caught in the rain again! Each time it slacked up I was only able to get from one entrance ramp to the next exit ramp! I did this for 3 exits. So I waited it out at a gas station for one hour. The rain finally let up long enough for me to get back on the road. I was ringing out my leather gloves. What really helped me was packing my rain suit and wearing a full face helmet. I feel for you.I’ll be in Georgia for a month. Prayerfully I will not hit any rain on my way home. You can’t say that you never got rained on.

Hang in there. I'm 64 and I've suffered from driving anxiety since I was 20 but decided it was not going to stop me from traveling. I live in Indian and I'm driving to Galveston, TX next week. Driving to Phoenix, AZ next month and Minneapolis in August. Plus, My wife and I are taking a long weekend and riding our bikes to the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway in July. It's not easy with my anxiety and sometimes I may have to do the back roads on my bike but I do it. I don't want to minimize what you're experiencing but hang in there. It gets easier, at least for me it did.

Wow soooo glad you hung in there and didn’t let your anxiety get the best of you. Support from family and friends is one of the best line of defense against anxiety. Next time you should go live also on long trips so that u can get support from your viewers.

Way to hang in there to arrive safely to your destination. Food for thought. Prior to leaving look at the local weather forecast of the cities along the way. Estimate when your going to arrive at those cities so you can already be prepared for the changing conditions. Example, if the forecast shows rain after 75 miles (approximately 1 hour) in route then may want to consider starting out in full rain gear. Remember, higher elevation locations will have a severe weather changes.
Also, good nutritional intake makes a HUGE difference! Your body, and important organs , brain , heart , nervous system, etc. are under more stress than normal while riding. Nothing extremely heavy to eat night prior. Eat good breakfast, Nothing fried, in morning. Bananas, almonds and vitamin water at each gas stop. Hope that helps for your return trip home.

Gotta say...I love your editing style and mix. As far as the ridin life goes, you're going to have to realize sooner or later that with all the positives that riding offers...there are the bad, uncomfortable, painful situations. Keep ya head up, learn from the experiences and hopefully you'll eventually be able endure better in the future. Thank you for sharing. Keep ya shiny side up!

Long road trips across multiple states by yourself is tough physically and mentally. You have a huge fan base and should have let it be known that “hey I’m gonna be in this area on this day around this time” I’m sure that other local riders to the area would’ve joined up with you on the road to ride with you for a while; I know I would have. Anyway glad to see that you pushed through and got there safe and sound. you’re awesome keep up the great work

You got the ultimate test; riding in a full down pour. I know, that can be unnerving. I tell myself no sudden moves, try and relax and take your time. Put some good rain gear on your list and find a spot where you can get at it quick. You did great! It’s good seeing you finding new friends and adventures. Subscribed and really like your unedited content.
