Humbe Thank you! You write such an awesome compositions. The "popping" arpeggio that starts around 0:26 gave me real hard time and finally I gave up. I just couldn't figure out what synth sound you used. Was it FM, digital, "analog" with FX or what :D Hope you don't mind that I reconstruct your tracks.
i don't mind at all! i made this track over 4 years ago though so i can't really remember which synths were used on it. as for the arpeggio i think it's the same synth all the way through, but with a shorter decay after 00:26. possibly layered with something else.
Thanks! I learn the songs by listenening to them and figuring out by ear what key the track is written, what notes the chords have and so on. I started with trackers back in the 90's so I've been doing electronic music over 25 years ;)
And also: amazing work. This is exactly how I want my future setup to be. I want to send midi from fl studio or something to play arpeggios and play chords and leads live myself.. I have jx 8p and juno 106.
You pretty nailed it. Mitch Murder would be proud (or sue you for copyright infringiment as your version is so close, ahah :-D) Great job as always ;-)
Thanks Michel, great to hear from you :) I've done these covers as my own amusement but I think it's high time I start to focus the dozens of unfisnished tracks that wait to be finished. I'm just so damn bad at getting to that point ;)
In this song DR-202 sequences the intro synthline to JUNO-106 with midi. Toms are samples and programmed in ableton. DR-202 makes an awesome 80's / Synthwave toms too, I will make a quick video to showcase that. I hope to get the video online on tuesday :)
I did have some spare time last night and noodled with the DR-202. I programmed the same tom patterns in 202 that I have here and tuned the preset sounds to match the tuning. I could have got even better sounds from the 202 but I ended up using just 3 tom sounds to get things done. My "go to" Simmons sample set contains couple dozen different sounds that have small variations to give more expression, but the point was to show that DR-202 is capable for nice synthwave toms too ;) Here is the video : ruclips.net/video/p0mgFPKfZ40/видео.html
I only listen to this when I get struck by lightning and bitten by a cobra at the same time... so basically all the time
I really like this!! excellent sound design!
nice! : )

tiergrinder hey nice covers. How do you learn how to play them? Do you contract the artist directly?

Are the Simmons drum sounds really from the DR-202? Or did you just trigger some external samples?
