That sounds sweet. You are a great teacher, and your kids can feel proud of themselves for picking it up so well and asking all the right questions. I guess she'll be good for another 70 years now, and your grandkids will use it to teach their own children how to overhaul her next time! It's going to be good to see you set her to work combining at least a demonstration strip next harvest. I hope you plan on that, and that modern yields don't choke her.
Always great to find the NOS parts you need. And installing the rod bearings this way is a GREAT workout!!! Nothing like bringing old iron back to life. Congratulations on a great result for you and your kids!!
Very cool your restoring that old combine & passing on your knowledge to your kids. I remember in high school I was taught how to use a vacuum gauge to set timing on older engines like that one. We had an old Massey Harris combine on my grandparents ranch that we used for oat harvest. It had a wood head on it. It probably got scrapped when the ranch got sold. It will be neat to see yours in action when the time comes!
Awesome work. One thing to remember, when using plasti gauge, always do it dry and clean with no oil, oil will take up just a little bit of space and give you a false reading. Just make sure you DO NOT spin the crank shaft with things dry. I have done that and galled the bearing after one revolution. Im guessing you only changed the reading by .0005" so you should have nothing to worry about. Cheers, Cant wait to see the babysccome out of hibernation.
I have a 1570 that needs rebuilt. You can send your kids to southern Michigan to do it for me.😂😂 looks like I can trust them better than my local case dealer
Hi there! Why do your daughters work with you instead of being on TikTok or Instagram? Are they partners in the business? At what age did they get their share? When did you start involving them in the work? Your videos are excellent and very educational.
Ps, dont use synthetic oil in it of its going to sit for extended periods! Conventional only or the cam will wipe out. Small aircraft industry learned that the hard way!
Great job it sounds wonderful !! I see you used the zinc oil for the cam I mentioned when you tore it down. Did you have the hardened valve seats installed? Or using lead additive? I didn't realize it was a flat head when we were talking. What a councidence! ruclips.net/video/GvSSVkHOlj8/видео.htmlsi=4Lrzgc7lrhEBpxzn

Great seeing.your kids working and learning with you. That combine reminds me of my grandpa's when I was a kid in Iowa.
So very cool!
Congratulations! Your kids got a rewarding, valuable education and you got a new combine! They sure don't build them like that anymore! Built to last!
Your kids should be so proud of what they have accomplished...and I'm sure you are proud of them. Good parenting.
