The Hidden Ball Trick has existed almost as long as baseball itself. It's incredibly rare, but incredibly electric when you get to see it in action...
All music from various MLB Power Pros game soundtracks

I’m so glad we all run in the same circles of baseball content
Calling a hidden ball trick must be like a cycle for umpires.
I love how the ump in the Tucker one is just standing there and staring like, c'mon bruh.... can't pull those plays anymore because the pitch clock right?
A pitcher is not allowed to be in contact with the pitchers plate without the ball. I teach my kids to never leave the base until you see the pitcher make contact
Y'all accomplished something I never thought I would be alive to see. Not mentioning the Mets in a video! I am tearing up.
5:48 Glad to hear that my all-time favorite player Evan Longoria once pulled off the trick
3rd baseman and now royals pitcher lucas erceg. Baseball is funny
Was going to say, hearing the name Lucas Erceg as a third basemen pulling off a hidden ball trick feels weird
Hidden comment trick
Wow, you're soooo edgy
⚾ gotcha!
Always love the MLB Power Pros music in the background, the Success Mode simulation music kinda tripped me up since right now I'm trying to recreate Dmitri Petrovich from Backyard Baseball in both 2007 and 2008 as a powerful and speedy catcher/first baseman.
3:00 Steve Jeltz mentioned
Was at a Padres game in ‘89 when Marvell Wynne got hidden balled off second late in a tight game. I believe the next day he got traded to the Cubs. 😂 Would make a great vid 👍
3:00 Jon Bois legend
In the Pitch Clock era, I fear like this is a dying art form.
3:06 I hate the Phillies, but I love Steve Jeltz. Shoutout to Secret Base
Ig there’s a reason Steve jeltz was my dads childhood favorite player
A+ for creativity with the potato. Of course it wasn't going to count, but it was really funny.
Lucas Ercig also pulled the trick of making the MLB...as a pitcher!
Explains why Ozzie was such a crap manager, dude fell for the equivalent of the quarter behind the ear three times as a player
He hustled off the field . He gave it his all and as a manager. But maybe lacked in the strategy and tactics of baseball
1:22 I tried to do this one time and when I attempted to fake throw… the ball slipped out of my hand and rolled between the mound and second base….
The so called grand illusion is how the Twins got Ken Griffey Jr. out in Little Big League.
3:38 Now the Royals closer!
Im so happy about Ozzie Guien getting fooled three times
Don't like your comment about Altuve, he didn't participate in the "cheating"
The thumbnail is a choice
Sucks to see Altuve dragged by someone who doesn't know his stuff
8:01 the first baseman made contact with the runner. It could be called obstruction
"The Grand Illusion".
Didn't they do that in "Little Big League"?
Juan Uribe sort of retired because of a hidden ball tho, check his last ever play at MLB and you’ll find Mike Trout smoked a liner right at his nutsack, Uribe was helped limping off the field. I can only assume that one of his balls is hidden at that point.
Some of the clips show a "hidden ball trick" while the pitcher is in the dirt circle. That's a balk.
virgin ozzie guillen vs chad mike lowell
Ryan Goins the 🐐
My guy there is enough evidence to prove Altuve didn’t cheat. Get off his nuts already. Sincerely, a Mets fan.
That’s nothing… My favorite move was hooking my fingers into the belt of the runner at 3rd when he was gonna tag and run home!.. bawahahaha!.. Oh, they hated it!..
The best part is, I knew eventually I’d be on 3rd, and turn about is fair play, right?… But I simply unbuckled my belt and ran home anyways… And the 3rd baseman was standing there, holding my belt!..
Ejected!.. bawahahaha!..
Rob Schneider is a potato.
everybody's favorite!
How was this even allowed. I call it cheating. Just my opinion 😮
Ahhh… That’s the point that’s lost on modern fans… Baseball and cheating are like peanut butter and jelly..
Shouldn't it be illegal? The pick off , fake throw is fine. But the mound meeting with the ball ones and other sneak tricks are weak
7:20 altuve didn’t cheat
Bro fell off so hard 😂😂
Like number 134
fair, but auto fight is how it should be
You forgot about when 1B Okie and SP Rowengartner of the Chicago Cubs successfully pulled off the trick after an intentional walk, on July 7, 1993.
Thumbs down for the bad Altuve take
a potato? thats not even clever thats just a cringy way to get attention smh
He didn't invent the potato trick. Someone did it in the 30s but it was apparently already a known gag then too.
The altuve dissing is pretty dumb
Please stop beating up Altuve in a scheme that he was exonerated from. Check out his Career Stats and stop spreading the hate😢
Exactly. Altuve didn't do it.
“Don’t take off my jersey I’m wearing a mic”
@@ZachAdams926? you still believe that he was speaking in English ?
@@ZachAdams926 Admittedly, that video is the best "evidence" for the accusations.
Altuve was not part of the cheating get your facts straight
It's pretty annoying that it's been out in the open for a whole now that he wasn't apart of it. Yet people still love to bag on him for it.
That point in the video immediately sent me to comments. Glad this is being covered by several comments.
Honestly one of the worst videos I've seen on this channel. Reasons why:
- Repetitive storytelling
- Unlike his teammates, Jose Altuve did not cheat. If he ever heard the trash can while he was at bat, he would get mad at his teammates later
- Showing that entire 34 second sequence at normal speed was unnecessary
- The hidden ball trick has been pulled off in a few well-known baseball movies. There was no mention of this or even any footage shown
- The hidden ball trick rarely happens and is rarely even attempted despite its simplicity, which is confusing. There was no discussion as to why it doesn't happen much more often
