@@jadenichols1873 Tbh its a bit up in the air and is quite dependent on the way you build kafka. There are two main paths you either build Kafka to try and Ult every two enemy turns which is gonna require stuff like the new free lightcone next patch and probably a decent amount of speed or you just ditch that and build her normally and pair her with Serval. The biggest thing Serval does is make Kafka's DoTs proc forever (including break DoT's) meaning Kafka doesnt have to worry about ult spamming. Ideally though you would use both as they can both work in skill point neutral setups and then some sort of giga healer to keep everyone alive.
I love Serval. Her story quest was so good. The feels man. I've got Serval level 50. Planning to build her and Sampo and use Nihility Path in SU. Look forward to see the carnage. Thanks for the video!
A fun thing to note about serval is that she can stack lightning debuff indefinately so long as you ult every 2 turns. This is due to her ult extending lightning debuffs, including the ones provided by break effects. The only issue is Serval does so much damage that by the time you get the third stack the enemy is already dead.
@@baltstop2702 With how much Serval refunds energy +Tingyun its possible but you need multiple enemies in order to do it successfully. I was able to do it during the Svarog boss fight in simulated universe but I had a bunch of effects that ensured I could recharge. Hope we get more energy recharge based supports in future tho.
@@baltstop2702 with a 3 unit scenario, like a Gepard fight and E2, you gain 42 energy per skill and 32 energy per basic attack. Serval Ult: 100 energy cost Energy Gain Basic: 20 Skill: 30 E2 Proc: 4*units shocked. With ERR stats, or if you get hit or kill something, you get enough to ult again. She's a skill neutral, sometimes positive character, which works well with another DPS/Sub DPS or Nihility. PS: if the units go up to 5, hitting shocked units with skill will grant 50 energy and basics will grant 40. Her E2 is effectively the best 4* eidolon in the game. Also, she works well with Sampo and Kafka. Side note, Break Effect Rope works really well on her, since her numbers aren't very high, but she gains a lot from DoT effects.
I didnt build my Serval Past 50 but during the time I was using her I already noticed her kit was very good when matched with more skill point hungry characters like Qingque and Seele. You get consistent AOE damage while only using your skill every 2-3 turns (if you have some way of giving her more actions before the DoT runs out you can extend this even further). If you have make the World Clamor at S5 it's stupid funny on Serval since her Trace that gives 15 energy means Serval will have her Ult up every combat with a bonus 64% damage, it's 47 energy restored at the start of combat. Serval Ult spam is stupid funny. My Make the World Clamor is only S4 at the moment and I'm already having stupid fun with it.
This. Her trace, E2 and E4 have huge synergy with her light cone and spamming her ultimate helps proc her talent outside regular turn cycle. Obviously not broken but just a solid unit.
I built Serval prior to getting Jing Yuan and don't regret it. I can run both power houses on the same team or split them up onto separate turns for MoC. Well worth the investment on both of them
imagine 3 lightning 1 quantum team with serval jingyuan tinyun (with dmg bonus lc) and silverwolf. serval and tingyun dont need much skillpoints, complimenting jy and sw. Seems like a really fun brute force comp. maybe even sub jy for kafka in the future

Unless you run into some boss in future patches that can deal crazy high damage in a short amount of time, Bailu can serve as a pseudo-preservation character. Also, Silverwolf can fulfill Tingyun's role with different pros and cons. I might actually try this out.
Also there is pre TC going on. They have just start discussing Serval break effect DoT since the damage is quite good along with her capability to extend that duration.

Serval best waifu She is a pretty good budget option even at e0 for a lighting dps. She gets better with eidolons alot and is relatively easy to build too. Once kafka comes out she will get even better. Overall a pretty solid unit.
She is really good. I had a maxed lightning set on her. She hits hard, and her dots really do damage. I replaced her with Jing Yuan, but I think she is better in some situations. Her skill point usage makes her more forgiving and easier to use with different teams. Jing Yuan feels like he really needs astra.
You can run Serval on a double dps team and she will happily feed your Yanqing / Dan etc skill points while still doing decent damage and providing AoE. I have Jing Yuan and he feels absolutely terrible in double dps. Only way to play him is with Tingyun or Tingyun + Asta/Bronya. I'm committed to this meme comp at this point so I'll be rolling on Silverwolf banner to try and E6 my Asta, but it's honestly a clownshow at this point.

I love these vids. im somewhat new to gatcha style games but ive been having alot of fun with star rail. i was worried at first since i thought you needed certain chars if you wanted to be strong but your videos have helped show me that thats not quite right, every charecter seems like they are perfectly capable of clearing content.

Sushang is all you need and if you just focus on keeping her alive then you can even put it in auto and let it afk win the battle for you. Not the fastest way but easiest and most brain dead.

you're massively underrating Serval's e6 I think, 30% more damage to shocked enemies is big when Serval's gonna be keeping every enemy she fights shocked anyway, so that's a really consistent free 30% extra damage which is big
I already got her at E4 so I can confirm that she rocks. I use The Seriousness of Breakfast and even though I don't have her fully relic'd out and she still puts out decent damage every turn.
I like Make the World Clamor because Serval is usually my sub DPS next to Seele or Clara, so she’s not going to get the buff for defeating enemies from the Breakfast cone. So more chances to Ultimate + Ult damage is good enough for me if you’re building her as a sub/shield breaker ps: also you get a free copy to superimpose it from the website event so that’s kind of nice
i always compare serval to fischl because she applies continuous damage and also gives free skill points (energy for genshin) because she doesnt need to skill every turn.
At trail brazer level 52 I'm building her I started with MC fire, bailu bronya, seele, changed bailu for Natasha C6 Then completely replaced the team with serval shampoo bailu pela This second team is funnier to play imo, and clears the simple content faster
I build both Jing Yuan and Serval because I like them both. Serval has been my main for a while, even after getting Jing Yuan. I going to max her out anyway.
It would be useful in the future if you would compare the dps of 2 similar units over a set amount of skill points. Like you said jing has more dps but is also much more skill point hungry. 2 comparisons would be useful. Like one with only 2 skill points and one with 5 skills points. The 2 would be for cases where you already have a different main dps while the 5 is for main dpses.
I would love to use more of the 4*s, but I have so few Eidolons for them, terrible light cones, and I can't even clear basic Forgotten Hall atm with my already leveled characters. I wish I had Bailu so I didn't have to pray that Gepard is enough.
This is the reality for MOST HSR players... do NOT get discourage when seing big numbers of 4-star characters or the "simping" in the comments. Most are whales or spenders who can afford leveling +10 chars, Crit Rate +60% and relics to lvl 12-15....and Obviously E6 (lol). That's NOT reallity for most. You (and I) will get there!
Serval is the reason i was confident skipping Jing Yuan entirely. Is Jing better than Serval? Yes, obviously hes a 5 star, if he was worse than the free unit there would be an issue no? But hes no so far above Serval that those without him will struggle to clear content which is whats good for the game as a whole. Jing Yuan has more damage, but in exchange theres more hoops you need to jump through to get said damage. Serval is consistent across the board but doesn't hit that highs that Jing can obviously.
Yes, that's the same reason why I only rolled for his lightcone instead.. Serval is a straightforward rock & roll YOLO char, she's also way more affordable to build since she's only 4★, of course all 4★s come with a caveat that they have less output from those 5★, but I'm just an F2P..😂

I really loved using Serval for clearing content (her guitar animation is so cool to me) until I accidentally got Jing Yuan on my first roll. Now I feel compelled to use Jing Yuan instead.
I'm lucky enough to have serval c6 after purchasing one from the store and getting lucky on the banner. Based on the calcs, she actually out dpss a c0 Jing yuan.
people are comparing her to Jing Yuan but she is good in different team comps. Jing Yuan you want to play like a hyper carry but with Serval she does not need to be the main dps. She can just clear enemy ads and then be skill point efficient by attacking every other turn and just extending the DoT effect. You can have your Hunt or Destruction character do the main damage after ads are cleared. This does make her team comps be more expensive though as hyper carry comps are easier to build right now.
i got a 5 star erudtion light cone, and i started to build her in a team. she's surprisingly better than my asta, tried it out with the same investment, and she gets better results
Jokes aside,build her.Even if she falls out hard,you can still use her shock for DoT and build break effect to clear electric weak shields with her AoE.She's a nihility chr in disguise.
I don't know why most of the community is so angry at jing yuan. I can guess... Maybe you need stress relief to save for kafka, but please...I am having the best game experience in my life with jing yuan (everything just explodes when the lighting lord descends). I had an account with seele and serval lvl 60, and still abbandoned it for a jing yuan. Why You want at all cost make jing yuan users feeling bad? I don't get it...just move on, enjoy your seele and kafka's dreams and leave jing yuan alone lol. The thing people arent seeing is serval and kafka will synergize toghether. Kafka auto procs dots on skill and ult and serval keeps those DOTs going.

Serval is a actually a good sub-dps for Kafka since their kit complement each other. Serval is a set up while Kafka execute.

His physical toughness is easy to break with Sushang. I recommend to use her, if you have.

I already got her at E4 so I can confirm that she rocks. I use The Seriousness of Breakfast and even though I don't have her fully relic'd out and she still puts out decent damage every turn.
I like Make the World Clamor because Serval is usually my sub DPS next to Seele or Clara, so she’s not going to get the buff for defeating enemies from the Breakfast cone. So more chances to Ultimate + Ult damage is good enough for me if you’re building her as a sub/shield breaker
ps: also you get a free copy to superimpose it from the website event so that’s kind of nice

i always compare serval to fischl because she applies continuous damage and also gives free skill points (energy for genshin) because she doesnt need to skill every turn.
At trail brazer level 52 I'm building her
I started with MC fire, bailu bronya, seele, changed bailu for Natasha C6
Then completely replaced the team with serval shampoo bailu pela
This second team is funnier to play imo, and clears the simple content faster
I build both Jing Yuan and Serval because I like them both. Serval has been my main for a while, even after getting Jing Yuan. I going to max her out anyway.
It would be useful in the future if you would compare the dps of 2 similar units over a set amount of skill points. Like you said jing has more dps but is also much more skill point hungry. 2 comparisons would be useful. Like one with only 2 skill points and one with 5 skills points. The 2 would be for cases where you already have a different main dps while the 5 is for main dpses.

I would love to use more of the 4*s, but I have so few Eidolons for them, terrible light cones, and I can't even clear basic Forgotten Hall atm with my already leveled characters. I wish I had Bailu so I didn't have to pray that Gepard is enough.
This is the reality for MOST HSR players... do NOT get discourage when seing big numbers of 4-star characters or the "simping" in the comments. Most are whales or spenders who can afford leveling +10 chars, Crit Rate +60% and relics to lvl 12-15....and Obviously E6 (lol). That's NOT reallity for most. You (and I) will get there!

Serval is the reason i was confident skipping Jing Yuan entirely. Is Jing better than Serval? Yes, obviously hes a 5 star, if he was worse than the free unit there would be an issue no? But hes no so far above Serval that those without him will struggle to clear content which is whats good for the game as a whole. Jing Yuan has more damage, but in exchange theres more hoops you need to jump through to get said damage. Serval is consistent across the board but doesn't hit that highs that Jing can obviously.
Yes, that's the same reason why I only rolled for his lightcone instead..
Serval is a straightforward rock & roll YOLO char, she's also way more affordable to build since she's only 4★, of course all 4★s come with a caveat that they have less output from those 5★, but I'm just an F2P..😂
Honestly jing yuan is easy to build. And easy for rotations too. Maybe you just can't read....

people are comparing her to Jing Yuan but she is good in different team comps. Jing Yuan you want to play like a hyper carry but with Serval she does not need to be the main dps. She can just clear enemy ads and then be skill point efficient by attacking every other turn and just extending the DoT effect. You can have your Hunt or Destruction character do the main damage after ads are cleared. This does make her team comps be more expensive though as hyper carry comps are easier to build right now.

i got a 5 star erudtion light cone, and i started to build her in a team. she's surprisingly better than my asta, tried it out with the same investment, and she gets better results

I don't know why most of the community is so angry at jing yuan. I can guess... Maybe you need stress relief to save for kafka, but please...I am having the best game experience in my life with jing yuan (everything just explodes when the lighting lord descends). I had an account with seele and serval lvl 60, and still abbandoned it for a jing yuan. Why You want at all cost make jing yuan users feeling bad? I don't get it...just move on, enjoy your seele and kafka's dreams and leave jing yuan alone lol.
