We had same issues with 2 vehicles before Christmas and when we got it sorted we were told to spray under the wheel arches with jays fluid to stop them coming back.
Sorry to hear about your trucks Michael a mate had a ford pick-up with the same problem and the dealer said the wiring is plant based covering good luck and keep up the good work buddy thanks.
Hope you took plenty of pictures to get that jigsaw back together again, hopefully not a humpty dumpty job, they couldn't get him back together again Great update, thanks michael Back UK Farmer's 🇬🇧 Geoff
I would check will your insurance cover the damage to the wiring loom of the hilux, i know a lot of the time they do cover rodent damage if fully comp… They may even write it off..
would it be worth while taking the Toyota to a dealership? I run trucks and hate going to the dealerships to get work carried out but I find that the dealerships have been there and got the T-shirt regarding wiring problems and warning lights. I have had warning lights and wiring problems on trucks and have taken them to non dealership garages and they have spent hours or days trying to find out what was wrong and a lot of times they didn't get the problem and if they did the repair bill was huge! these non dealership workshops still had diagnostic equipment and still struggled. I started using the dealerships for wiring and technical problems and find that they get the problems a lot faster as their diagnostic equipment is better and a lot of time they have come across the same problem multiple times before, I had a warning light on a truck and took it to a non dealership workshop that had all the up to date diagnostic equipment, they spent a day at it and couldn't get the problem, I took the truck to the dealership and they plugged it in and the mechanic said the problem is with a wire in the loom at a steel bracket and this was a common problem with this model of truck, he tilted the cab cut the cable ties on the loom, opened the wiring loom and there was the broken wire at the steel bracket, he had the problem fixed in under 1 hour. The non dealership workshops in my area are up to £50 per hour cheaper than the main dealerships, I find that the repair bill for warning lights and technical problems is less from the main dealerships as they have the problem sorted a lot quicker than the non dealership workshops, I use the non dealership workshops for the likes of engine oil changes, brake pad replacement and mot work and use the main dealerships for warning lights and wiring problems.
Great video Michael, I'm surprised the vermin managed to get past the Cat...A-lytic converter 🙄. Ring Joe, tell him about the hat and ask him to bring "Pip" down to sort out your problem.😉.
You’re missing a trick with the road trip. Next time you go on a road trip on a tractor take us with you.people would like to see the scenery and hear you talk on the way.
Where does the vehicle normally reside when not in use? - Enclosed garage or shed, open fronted shed or simply outdoors somewhere? Judging by what I'm hearing locally there are a lot of vermin (especially rats) about on farm type places today. Perhaps it is time to review your control measures for these problems with lots of sugary poison bate traps.
Great video Micheal. Happy new year

It is a big problem on Toyotas as they use soya in the wiring coatings. The mice absolutely love it 👎🏻

We have 42 bait stations checked and recorded every other day
Could you claim on your insurance for the hilux
Probably
The windscreen looks broke, remove window and easy access
Yes it is broke
@ good luck I hope you get it fixed, great videos love seeing the content,
Get yourself a few cats?
Did you try an OBD scan before the teardown Michael?
No we just used old fashioned instinct
Get rid of your edible trucks !! Dogs eating tyres and rodents eating the wiring 🤷😅
I know
Hilux is bullet proof but not mouse proof lol
That's no mouse.. that's a rat you've got
👍👍💪💪👌👌👏👏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪
Rat 🐀 looking for a warm place. Didn’t like Joe’s hat 😂
What the hell are Toyota using to insulate their wires for you to have that luck twice?? Must be steak flavour insulation or something 🙈🙈🙈
Soya apparently
