@@plum111 I was greatly impressed to hear a Syrian school girl, a recent immigrant in the UK, speak excellent English when being interviewed on the radio. When she was complimented on her language skills, she said that she went to after school English speaking lessons and she lived and breathed English speaking so that she could build relationships and understand everything she could that was being said by anyone. She'd been here only 6 months. That is incredible, very impressive. I'm sure she will excel wherever she is in whatever she does.

Actually, many Muslim women don't even know why they wear them other than it's a religious, cultural thing. No real research goes into historical foundation of it.
@n h I haven't got an opinion. Just stating a fact. This is true in every form of culture, tradition, of belief system, religious or political. People do things just because they are done and it's what is expected of them.
I am Muslim and the hijabis I have met wear them with a strong intention behind wearing it. Of course there are many who fit your description, but we are talking about a BILLION+ people and most adult muslims I have met or know personally practice their faith with a lot of thought and intention behind and wear the hijab for God consciousness.

My aunt went and was raised in the US but she moved back to south Asia and my aunt was to only speak in Asia in English up until he developed the accent
Because that is how you learn a language. You listen to and mimic the sound you hear. People who learn a language in school, speak the standard language, people who learn a language in practice, almost always speak the specific dialect of the region.

She has lived in the States since 13 years old and at that age, kids can learn and acquire language much faster than adults. They are young and easy to be taught. No wonder that she is fluent in English. Plus, there is no other Arab girls there to make her speak in her native language, and therefore she is fully immersed in the English American accent as well.
