Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
Bit of an Amiga classic, Rick Dangerous is unashamedly difficult, continually sucker-punching players with hidden traps and hazards that lurk behind every Quechuan-themed pillar and stoney vault. It's as much a test of memory as it is dexterity; progress comes only by remembering where each of the traps and triggers are located, then figuring out how to circumvent them.
This is a game that delights in its frustrations and revels at the anguish it will cause, laughing up its sleeve with each time you die. As such you have to learn to lean into the game's malevolence and take it in your stride.
I think it's fair to say that the likes of Spelunkey and Super Meat Boy have a bit of Rick Dangerous DNA in them. You'll keep coming back for one more go, a curious testament to such a gruelling design.

WAAARRRH!! The definitive summing up of my times with Mr Dangerous but like watching Goofy in those old Disney cartoon shorts I kept coming back for more!!😅😂
As you said, it's more choreography than difficulty.
Loved this game on my CPC and later this ST port on the Amiga.
I prefer the original CPC one and not the plus version.
This is a game that you can play forever, like bubble bobble.
Back in 1990 i played this on a monocromatic cga monitor on pc...what great time to play. Good memories!
I'd heard of this game before, and this is a very nice playthrough. Nice to see that there was a predecessor to _Tomb Raider_ in terms of tricky traps and nefarious level designs made to kill you if you don't know what you're doing! I think it's a testament to a game actually being fun if you're willing to put up with its difficulty; I could see myself wanting to give this one a try. EDIT: I noticed the sprites are different for which way the characters are facing; that's a neat little touch I'm fond of whenever I see it in games.
Loved these games back in the day 😮
12:07 Wait what ???????? Mate you are a freaking genius !!!!! After all these years I've just found out that you can keep the rod extended to freeze them all like that.
I was playing this game on Amstrad CPC 464 with a cassette deck and green monitor ! On Amstrad when you've been killed you started from the beginning and if I remember right it was 2-3 check points when you progress further.
2 Of my favorite games those days Rick Dangerous and Solomon's Key.
Also those 8 bit music on Amstrad and 16 bit on later models was awesome !
Played this one a lot as a kid. Super frustrating and super addictive. Besides the sound effects it's a standard ST port though.
How can be all amiga games so amazing😂🎉
Let's not forget the amazing
Commodore 64 games 😹😺👍🕹️.
Impressive. I suck at these games. Can't be 10% who beat this. Maybe 2 of 100 😮🎉
Did you know there's a way to slide the dynamite forward? My big brother figured it out and I was blown away, pun intended lol.
Oof I'm an oldfart aren't I.
Oh my god, so many teenage hours down the drain.
yes
I must admit i'm a bit shocked you didn't already have on your channel. And also that you don't have Rick Dangerous 2 here. Maybe it's in the pipeline?
Magic game ❤
Whhaaaahhhh!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Classic!
WAAAAAH 😹🤘🕹️!!!
*Rick dangerous = indiana Jones*
You don't say, Sherlock...

Why didn't you pick up the missiles in the last level? They're points!
