    I'am a huge Robert Rich fan in which this reminds me of his work .I am also an ambient musician myself and I really dig your sound my friend. The Hydra, Lyra 8 and Waldorf Iridium are all on my list for Spring and summer. Keep up the awesome work!

    Wow, I'm sure glad I found your channel. First caught it searching for TD - Love on a Real Train, outstanding. Between that song and Giles Reaves - WUNJO, I was hooked on electronic music. I'm almost 60 and this stuff still gets me in the zone. I'm introducing my 12 y/o son to this music. He actually introduced me to Electro-Swing. You're awesome. Keep up the good work.

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  Год назад

      Thank you! You're correct, Lyra is going straight into the Hydra via the Mod 1 input on the front panel. It's then processed via the Hydra FX and filtering if I remember, this also creates a stereo signal on the output which is then further processed by the Eventide Space before hitting the DittoX4 looper.

    Absolutely stunning piece! Just ordered a Lyra-8 today, now I have to spend my time watching videos of other people using it until I finally receive mine :D You have any recommendations for a decent stereo reverb which doesn't cost 500 euros plus? I already bought the Chase Bliss Mood a couple of days ago so I am on a low budget right now. I still think that I definitely need some nice reverb for my Lyra...

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! Hardware or software? Because if that doesn't matter, I would definitely use Valhalla Shimmer reverb, it'll be amazing with the Lyra. On the hardware side I guess it's between a Bigsky/Bluesky or Space for those huge cavernous verbs that work so well with this kind of sound. I'm not too familiar with other reverbs. You can sometimes find those for great prices second hand. I'm thinking of getting a Big Sky to replace my Space as it's kind of broken now. Hope you enjoy the Lyra!

    Awesome stuff, got lost in this! Curious as to what the hydra is doing to the Lyra, is it adding effects only? Is the hydra playing alongside?

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  4 года назад +2

      Hi James. The Hydra is adding a little bit of its LoFi FX to the Lyra, with a gentle filter sweep, its very subtle. The main reason I was putting Lyra through the Hydra was to convert the mono out into a stereo signal, then both Hydra and Lyra go through the Eventide Space. At one point near the end of the stream, I leave only the Hydrasynth playing via loops recorded into the Ditto.

    • @rum_bongo
      @rum_bongo 4 года назад +1

      State Azure thanks very much. Both have been on my want list for a while! And hearing this has increased my interest in them for creating live drones and atmosphere to sit behind my drummer and my guitar doing psych jazz stuff! Do you prefer to sequence the hydra externally or use the looper? I’m primarily using elektron boxes so my octatrack could do either or cv it from analog 4

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  4 года назад +2

      @@rum_bongo For this kind of stuff I do prefer to just improvise into the looper freestyle, since any kind of syncing doesn't matter. It's fun building ambient layers this way. There's sequencing going on with the Digitakt of course, but it's at a very slow tempo and using probability triggers to avoid obvious patterns.

      @@OrbvsTomarvm There so many different ways and approaches- firstly you need more than one synth- in order to have something to connect - in the beginning - you dont NEED a mixer , or even a sequenser - you COULD start out going the DAW way - like we ALL have - now you already HAVE a computer - - and start out by downloading f.eks. "Reaper" its "Sort of free" its -NOT , but the dudes who makes it are so cool , that they dont put any time or function-restrictions on the downloadable DEMO program , no restraints on there DAW (which WE-the users, then OFCOURSE reward , by paying them that insanely cheap price of 60 usd, when we find out how great a DAW , the "Reaper" is- and its WORTH it - ooh my -its worth it ! ) then you familiarize youreself with the whole idea , of getting the DAW to play youre synths , like a multitrack taperecorder - and get a grasp of the notion and workings of midi - and -while all this is getting normal , you start to put money aside for the synths you would like to have playing together - and you can start thinking of going DAW-less - getting sequensers and lanes upon lanes of midi in-out-and through boxes - but - start out , using youre computer as the sequencer ,- and by then ... i promise you , you wont have to ask any more questions , cause you will be on your way to be a musician of your own right ,- i hope it helped abit ,- Have a fantastic day , or night , where ever you are on this little planet of wonders ,- 😉

      @@MikkelGrumBovin thanks for that. i use logic pro x. and have korg kronos, triton extreme + moss, m3 + radius, an alesis ion and a ton of processors. i just can't remember how i hooked them all up when i used to play. I played in a pink floyd tribute act more than ten years ago but went through a tragedy and lost a higher functioning part of myself that could think my way through complex scenarios like linking everything together. sequencing is the easy bit actually. i need to re learn the set up process.
