    Well done. At the beginning of the video I thought, I don't think he's going to pull this off. I was wrong. Ingenious repair. I have a Jeep Cherokee but they don't have power folding mirrors here for some reason. Regardless, I have learned something. Great job.

      +MindFlareRetro Thank you sir. Maybe the grand Cherokee does, I'm guessing it could be an option. Still you are even luckier as they should be simpler to fix when this happens 😂

    I have the exact same problem with my Grand Cherokee 2006 and I have bought a second hand mirror (cheap enough) from the American E-bay, without realising it has no motor in it. Watching your video inspired me to go back to the Brocken one a try to fix it the same way as you did.

      Trouble is I have applied a lot of silicon to temporary fix the two parts till I got the replacement, so let see how I'm gonna even open that thing... ;(

      WD-40 will eat silicone 👍

      All went good and initially the mirror worked, but then suddenly doesn't know anymore where to stop when opening. Can't find any info what marks the end of the unfolding cycle for sure. ;(

      The end stops are in the gearbox with the motor, i would have a look in there and clean them.

    Thanks! I have a 2006 Commander with an offside mirror that drives it self all the way forward as if someone has knocked it. Must be the position sense mechanism.

      Yeah could be. As long as the spindle is not trashed like mine, you should be able to service it quite nicely. I need to remember to look for a spare next time I am in the states. Also a new seat squab!

      @@backofficeshow I have the same problem of the mirror going all the way forward. I have opened it and everything looks fine. What next? Please throw me some ideas. Otherwise you did a very helpful video!

    I learn so many real names for "thingymebobs" from you. Though what was that tool you used with a clamp called? I've never seen one of those before.
    Ingenious as always!

      +FairFight14 Ah that tool is a Wiper Arm Puller. It's a clever design but quite weak compared to others, hence why is broken. I broke it on first use but I though it was too soon to throw it away.

      +deedee I think it's an '06 or an '07. Did you see the blue tooth mod video I did? Rusty was well worth doing.

    Hey! this video was amazing! Not so much for the tear down, which I loved, but for the part number. Can you get the part number for the other side? The export power mirrors are very hard to find and getting a proper part number is like getting juice from a unicorn!

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure I fancy removing the other one to check, however, maybe Google the part number we know and see if the catalogue has the other side listed?

    Wasn't the other driver liable for damaging your vehicle? Very impressive repair.

      +John Gotts I think of wing mirrors as somewhat consumable items 😂 I think we would both be end up liable and only the insurance companies would benefit.
