Richard Blanco is my all time favorite poet. I love the way his poems include many multicultural references and for me a Spanish speaking teacher who was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Norwegian and German fourth generation American. As I first went to pre-Kindergarten classes in Vienna, Austria. I quickly learned that the word for table was “Tisch” in German and I was “ein Mädchen” who adored languages, people, travel, school,family, and words.
