Great information, I’ve lived in Florida over fifty years before I learned about mangrove trees. The benefits of the plant help Florida survive our hurricanes and the taste of mangrove honey is some of the best. Thank you and stay safe and well in this hour of world darkness. Blessings to you all.
With warming temps overall, I'd like to see more info on other natives that I normally see from st pete on down. Also growing golden polypod (cannot get it right when transplanting), giant leather fern, saw grass, lyonia species and green fly orchid...oh and strangler fig.
Great video! I'm so glad to know you sell red mangroves and I will be up to buy some soon. I would like to establish some mangroves along our seawall and then work on getting some sea grasses planted. I found some red mangrove propagules while I was paddle boarding and would like to know the best way to root them. Thank you for all you do to teach us about native plants!
Great video thank you for clarifying hoe to identify them. I am restoring an area of my yard, upland from mangroves. I want to know what to plant as we go upland from the mangroves and buttonwoods. I removed a Brazilian pepper and need to back plant the area.
The Bonner Park tour video would be a great place to learn about the upland species of those areas, but a few examples would be marlberries, native coffees, rouge plants, Florida privet and wax myrtles.
All three will also survive a fresh water rain garden. I have these species and are doing well in this setting. I'm curious how they will do once mature, though. They are so important and I'm astounded at how they were ripped out for development along our coasts.
Can mangroves be grown in a bog garden? Would like to build a bog garden (if I'm allowed to) with carnivorous plants and maybe a black or red mangrove. If the mangrove can tolerate a little frost, I happen to live in zone 9A in north Florida.

We will certainly look to produce that! Be sure to check out our Bonner Park video, as we talk about Sabal palms in one of their natural settings!

Thats great! We've found that the best way to root them is get them into some loose medium and keep it moist.

People need to be educated about the importance of these plants so things like that never happen again! These ecosystems are so important to protect.
