- Do I need to tell you to watch This Is Us? Is there anyone left who doesn't? This show is simply magical. A medicine for the soul. It's just so, so good.
I've been watching since the premiere but I never thought I'd vid it. Yet, I was doing a rewatch and all the feelings for these two hit me even stronger than the first time. And I sadly realised we didn't really get that many scenes with them. Even so, Sophie is such a presence in the show and in Kevin's life. They are obviously and undeniably linked and they always will be.
I adore Sophie as a character and do wish we got to see more of her and her history. She is just so pure and kind. She loves Kevin in spite of everything he did and keeps doing, against her better judgement even. It kills me how every time she sees him she genuinely asks if he's okay, even after he treated her like sh_t. And I love the way he always ends up going back to her, almost unwillingly so, he just ends up at her place. I love that she always knows the right thing to say to make him feel better and he always knows how to make her laugh, even when she's furious with him or devasted for her mother's death, he manages to take her mind off of that if only for a second.
So are these two endgame? It certainly does not look like it right now.
4x12 proved once again that they understand and know each other like no one else does and that they will always be there for each other in their time of need, but it showed how they matured and metaphorically let go of their young love and everything they promised to each other by finally watching the end of Good Will Hunting together. But it also showed how they will forever be connected. The only thing that could bring Sophie back during her mother's funeral was seeing Kevin and I think the fact that she ran off with her ex husband in the middle of the reception might not be lost on her fiancé. Kevin's whole speech in the graveyard could be interpreted both ways too. And there's the ring storyline. The ring he never got to give her because their love was still too new. The ring she stared at at the end of the episode, which might make someone more optimistic than me hope this means their story is not over quite yet. I will admit this, even as a shipper: Sophie does deserve better than Kevin and I don’t know that as a friend I would suggest she take him back. I don’t know that she would, after everything. But I want to believe that he actually is finally ready, because they could be so happy.
I do think they could eventually get back to each other. It's obvious neither of them will ever find that same connection with anyone else, plus the writers keep teasing us by showing us bits and pieces of their past together. In fact even if Sophie's not in Kevin's future, I still would love to explore their history more. I want to see them go through high school together. I want to see them happy in New York. I want to see them struggle in a long distance relationship. Heck, I even want to see how Kevin messed it up the first time around.
I really did not mean to make such a sad video but truthfully, they're kind of a sad ship, and this song is so beautiful.

This was so freaking perfect and I am SO happy you vidded them. This was gorgeous and I think you captured them so well in this. I totally agree with every single thing you said in the description, and I'm so conflicted because as you said I think Sophie does deserve better, but also they could be so happy now that Kevin is finally ready. Anyway this brought back all my feelings for them again and I love this so much. It's beautifully edited and put together. The little voiceover parallels 'are you okay' were so good. This was gorgeous!

Sophie always asking if he's okay despite everything he has done to her really gets me every time, and she does deserve better but I hope they can slowly start building a new kind of relationship maybe and finally be together. I really cannot imagine Kevin ending up with anyone else.
Wow wow wow. I love this so much??? I need these two to end up together. As much as Kevin has fucked up and Sophie deserves better, the show has made it clear that they are it for each other. Kevin ending up with anyone else is just settling. Amazing editing, so soft and gentle. Plus I’m obsessed with this song so thank you for this beautiful edit! ❤️

This is such a perfect song for them! Really hope we get to see more of Sophie in the last two seasons. I want more of their story even if they aren't endgame.

HI!! I'm one of those more optimistic ahah ❤️ I still believe they will end up togheter! I agree with all that you said, you made a GREAT description of this beautiful couple with your words and with the video (SO PERFECT btw). So many people keep saying that she deserves better, but this was before and obviously in the earlier part of their story. Now he's changed and matured, so I think Sophie knows this too and when they showed the ring at the end, with her staring at it, GUYS WE'LL WIN! Just wait and see 👀
