    Positive:
    price - space for passengers - luggage space - Radio CD/MP3/USB/ Bluetooth
    Improvements:
    4 speed automatic - one touch power windows - indicator signal sound
    In general the Renault Duster (Dacia Duster) is a very affordable full size compact SUV with a ton of space for a unbeatable price. The materials used are very affordable and don't feel as upscale as the competition, but that being said the competition cannot deliver that much car for that little price.
    A great car for a young family on budget that needs sufficient room, for someone who has a hobby that requires space to put the equipment, as a 2nd car for the wife to do the school run or weekly grocery sopping or for someone who needs a bit more ground clearance but not full 4x4 off road capabilities.
    Recommendation from my side if you are able to live with the used materials and don't mind the neighbours with their unnecessary talk.
    PRO Renault Duster (Dacia Duster)

    Hi there, great review... good job finally we got a professional car reviewer for the UAE! By the way could you please also do the review of the 4x4 version of Duster please? Because a lot of people underestimate this car. Perhaps you can show a little desert dune driving plus the new 2014 has a minor facelift also, I really want to buy one but before I buy blindly I need to see how it performs in the desert because some of the people I saw having Duster 4x4 ran straight into the dunes without having problems I was amazed how it went easily also heard 4x4 version has a centre differential lock just like proper off-roading SUVs which is a very good aspect to the Duster.
    Thanks.

    Hi Patrick, Thanks a lot for the review, Your review actually helped me buy this car. I am now planning to buy another car as would be passing this one on to my wife. I would really be interested in you reviewing a Suzuki Grand Vitara as they are running a really nice Ramadan Promotion. I really like you reviews so please keep posting them...

    @Mohammad Salman
    Thank you for your feedback and your comment, I highly appreciate it. I will be contacting Renault for the facelift model soon, but I doubt they will have the 4x4 version as PR vehicle available. The problem is that the 4x4 version only comes with a manual transmission in the UAE, it isn't the one with the best equipment either, rather the basic range. Most people don't know how to drive manual in Dubai as you might be aware, even though a manual 4x4 is much better in offloading then an automatic one. I can however tell you that the Duster from what I have researched online and spoken to other testers is very capable of handling rough terrain and off road trails. I am certain it can outrun some of the much more expensive and heavier 4x4's on the market. If you like my reviews I would appreciate your subscription and if you could be so kind share my videos with friends to help me grow. This way I will be able to get my hands on more cars and review more often. Thank you. Regards

    The problems with my car (Renault duster) started from day 1 of its purchase from Abu Dhabi showroom.
    The first day I drove my car for hardly 10 km and the engine stopped all of a sudden during parking the car. The engine body part got all heated up hardening the steering with the handle break at the same time.
    My first day with my new car ended into a disheartening experience.
    Not only this the car also has technical bugs like the Bluetooth in this car does not work efficiently at all.
    Even if the radio is powered off you hear a continuous beeping and buzzing noise till the engine is on. This gets us difficult to attend calls while driving.
    The exterior parts of the car body showed some whitish spots which is not the texture but it looks like the finishing wasn't done elegantly.
    After such a pathetic experience I tried contacting and addressing the tremendous issues I faced all through. To my explanation they said "sir once the car goes out of the showroom we can only repair it and not replace it".
    After a prolonged discussion and argument I finally surrendered and agreed for a repair because although it is my first car the issues got all my novelty down and the no replacement rule was very depressing.
    I kept my car with them for almost a week for servicing and repairs.
    After almost giving my car for 4 times of repair and servicing the Bluetooth doesn't work till date. I can very strongly say that they don't have efficient technical/ support team. And I surely do not recommend one to go for this car

    That's a much needed review and gave me a good insight on the car. Good to see some local reviews coming from the UAE. Good job mate!
    I did take the test drive and it's an impressive car especially for this price!
    I just have one query.. How is it at high-speed...say 140km/h. Coz I do a lot of driving to Abu Dhabi and just wondering if the Duster can handle such high speeds..

    great review! we got the mid-option without the leather seat since leather really stings in summer. i like the radio for its simplicity and getting most off your need like connecting to your iphone via Bluetooth, using usb for your mp3 and charging your phone. i would suggest to get the armrest as an accessory, it also has an internal storage where you can place your mobile or any sort.
    I wonder if the duster 4x2 can go dune bashing.... hmmm
    thanks!

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад

      Thanks for your comment. I agree, the leather seats is something I wouldn't order myself either due to the heat. Leather seats in the Middle East are only acceptable if they come ventilated and cooled, otherwise way too hot. The armrest is something that is missing, but as you said can be order as extra. Dune bashing with the 4x2, not really. What you saw in the video is pretty much as far as you should try, otherwise you will get stuck, not only because of the 4x2 but due to the automatic that isn't recommended for heavy offroading!

    Hi Patrick I have bought a renault duster but somehow I my speeding alarm does not sound @ 120kmph it rather beeps somewhere around 130 kmph. Any idea if this was the case in the car you drove as well? Or is this an error which needs to be rectified at the service center...

    very good review! im seriously considering getting this car but just a little hesitant because i have no idea of renault cars' durability. it surely is friendly on the pocket but it would be a let down if the car develops major engine or gearbox problems in the first couple of years. how is the maintenance cost for renault cars service and parts? thanks

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад

      Thank you. I can only see that there are many on the roads here in Dubai and back in Europe (sold as Dacia Duster) they are being build since years. Parts will be on the cheaper side and I reckon (I don't know though) they aren't more expensive then the ones for the Japanese cars (i.e. Toyota). Especially the Duster is a proven car since years and they have sold tons of them. If you are thinking about keeping the car for let's say 4-5 years I reckon it won't have any major problems (as long as you stick to the service intervals). And Renault offers a 3 year/60.000 km warranty with an options to extend the same. Good luck with choosing the right car.

      Auto Review
      thanks for the prompt reply man.. i've done a little of research of my own and so far ive read fairly positive user reviews about this car. owners of previous models had been complaining of humming noise and renault was efficient enough to address that issue by doing that face lift on the recent model. im leaning towards the 2nd trim 4x2 so far. i'ma call renault jebel ali next week to book a test drive...thanks again for this very helpful review...make more videos like this or try comparing 2 or more cars of different brands in same category...liked and subscribed to your channel!

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад

      live_evil Thanks for your comment and your subscription. My recommendation (as mentioned in the video) is the base model or the mid range trim for more extras. The full option is due to the full leather seats a no-go for me personally as the leather gets way too hot in summer. Check out the new face lifted Duster (only cosmetic changes) and I am sure you will like it for it's reasons. Enjoy the test ride and let me know how you decided. I recommend to contact the Renault showroom next to Dubai Airport on the way to Sharjah. Ask for Saqib and mention that you saw my video, they will take care of you for sure. Cheers

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  9 лет назад

      I have tested and driven many cars over the years. In the end you have to look into how much a duster costs compared to a Toyota RAV4 or Nissan Juke. How much less expensive is the Duster compared to those, maybe AED 25.000 - 35.000? You cannot expect Japanese or even German quality for the price of a Duster. But I believe for the price is costs one can get a decent car with good equipment. cheers

    Do we get rear AC option? Also is 4x4 available with automatic? I'm considering this versus Nissan sunny.
    Please advise.

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад

      There is no separate AC option for the rear, it's not available. As far as I am informed there is a 4x4 option, but the 4x4 version only comes with a 6-speed manual, no automatic available.

    • @Shumayal
      @Shumayal 10 лет назад

      I'm basically concerned about 3 things.
      1)Does the AC manage the heat of UAE considering the cabin size is bigger than an ordinary saloon car. I have Nissan x trail and its a big problem.
      2) is the positioning of the rear power window buttons a nuisance?
      3) Resale value.

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад +1

      Ahmad Shumayal 1) The AC worked fine with the size of the car, however I do recommend to tint the windows to the legal maximum (35% in UAE) to avoid unnecessary heating up of the car.
      2) Not at all, you get used to it very easily. I think it is a smart way and you know where they are. For the front passengers they are easy to get to, for the rear passengers they have to stretch.
      3) Resale cannot be really determined today, depends always on the milage, the condition of the car (dents, scratches) and if the service was always done with the dealer and on time.
      However, when you buy the base model for AED 49,900 I believe you can't get a better car for the money if you look for an economical purchase decision.

    Is it a good move by selling my yaris sedan for duster?

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад +2

      Well, it really depends on what you are looking for! Are you by yourself, do you have a family? Maybe a hobby that needs space to move equipment or you just have a lot of friends to go out with? Personally, I would go for the Duster, it has a bigger engine, more power (but at the same time more fuel consumption), has much more space and you sit higher with better visibility. For the Yaris would speak that it is easier to park (smaller), it should have less fuel consumption so it's cheaper to run. But the Duster is a great car (the only real thing that I would like to improve is the 4 speed automatic, to change it to a 5 or even 6 speed one). Other than that the car is being build since years and is it the best selling SUV and great value for money. So, as you can see, I cannot tell you what is better for you without having more information. cheers

    ipod iphone imrich.. like thers no other phones on market? especially for users of Dacia I think don't own that iLifestyle but rather something decent priced like android phones? - how does the stereo recognize droids?

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад +1

      Owning a Dacia doesn't necessarily mean that you have to use cheap phones. The Duster seems to be very popular as 2nd car in the family or upgrade from smaller cars. iPhone was mentioned cause I use one, the point was the USB functionality not the iPhone. Sorry, I cannot say how Android mobiles are recognised as I do not own one, but Nokia E52 worked fine for older phones.

    Hi! I would like to know if this car is good for new drivers like me. I'll be doing more of just city driving and some Highway drives. How are the safety features? And how about maintenance costs and services done by Renault? Do u have any idea if this particular model is low or high maintenance? Thanks! And great review! :)

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад

      Hello. If it should be your first car I would say it's better then what most people drive back home as first cars. Safety features are limited to the car, it has 2 front airbags and ABS, that's it. But the car is bigger, therefore has more car around you to protect you in case. Maintenance costs should be low as the car is popular and they bring them to Dubai, in addition the parts are less expensive compared to other European models and if you buy new it comes with a good warranty and service package. Service intervals of 10.000km is better than all Asian brands, only a few have longer intervals (i.e. Opel) in the UAE. Hope that helps. Good luck.

      thank you for the response. i'm still thinking if i'll get a Suzuki Swift or this. i guess it's the size i'm a bit worried about (parking and all). lol. I'll definitely consider your comments.:)

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад +1

      wyttiger The Swift will be easier to park for sure (Shorter and more compact) and I guess it will have a 5-speed automatic vs. the Duster's 4-speed (which means it will save fuel). I reckon the Swift will have more airbags and depends on the trim level potentially ESP (electronic stability program) so it might be better to go for the Swift. You need to compare which is better equipped, if you worry about the size the Suzuki could be a better option.

    • @wyttiger
      @wyttiger 10 лет назад

      i tested the swift yesterday and i liked it. i got a good offer as well. i got the mid model with an extra navigation system/back camera/bluetooth for 42,500AED. although i felt that the pedals were quite soft compared to the juke that i tested. it'll take some time to get used to. the juke was very comfortable to drive and easier to use but quite a bit more expensive. the swift is more practical in terms of price and parking space i guess. and yes i think it did have a 5-speed auto. so yah, i guess i'd better go with the swift. thank you so much:)

    • @AutoReviewCom
      @AutoReviewCom  10 лет назад +1

      wyttiger That sounds like Suzuki is having a good offer during Ramadan at the moment. It sounds good to me. The Juke is nice, but very small for the high price that you need to pay. Good luck with the Swift, all the best.

      Dear Nady,
      I do not remember to be honest, but check on my facebook (link in the description) and you should be able to find close up pictures of the Duster. From savings point of view when being build I could imagine that you would need to use the key to open the fuel cap, but you could just use the 2nd key and give it to the guy filling up your tank at the gas station if you don't want to get out of the car yourself. cheers
