Hi Guys. Great show. It is tough to list a perfect album IMO , but I will try. Here goes. 1. Foreplay/Longtime 2. More Than a Feeling 3. Piece Of Mind 4. Smokin' 5. Rock and Roll Band 6. Hitch A Ride 7. Something About You 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight
I was fortunate enough for my first concert ever to be Boston on the Don't Look Back tour in January of 1979. I had just turned 14 and this experience jump started my complete addiction to music and concerts and I didn't look back!
'They don't like beer talk?' I bloody love the beer chat at the front of the show! As someone who enjoys the exchanges and seeing or hearing about different sources / breweries / ale related stories - PLEASE keep it in there guys! X 😁
I've been Teetotal for over 30 years - but I still go to pubs with mates who drink beer and I'm quite happy to hear them talk about it! Me talking about my preference for Pepsi Max over Coke Zero doesn't necessarily interest them so much!! I reckon you guys could talk about your choice of socks and make it interesting and entertaining...
I love the UK Connection. And the 'beer talk' is one of my favorite parts of the Saturday evening viewing. Keep it up! Regarding the Boston album, I find it hard to rank the songs. The album as it runs is a part of my soundtrack - it is difficult to rate. I take the album as it is - and love it from beginning to end.
My top five albums list of 1976: 1. Boston - Boston 2. Rainbow - Rainbow Rising 3. The Eagles - Hotel California 4. ABBA - Arrival 5. Kiss - Destroyer What a year!
Love my hard rock and metal, also dig melody, harmony vocals and hooks - ABBA defines ear candy! I also dated the blonde beauty in ABBA....you callin' me a liar? Hee haw! Peace
Favorite Title Tracks from 8 to 1. 1 being best 8) Hitch a ride 7) Something about you 6) Let me take you home tonight 5) Rock and Roll band 4) Smokin 3) More than a feeling 2) Foreplay/longtime 1) Peace of mind.
Awesome show guys. Great album. 1. Foreplay/longtime 2. More than a feeling 3. Smokin 4. Hitch a ride 5. Peace of mind 6. Rock n roll band 7. Something about you 8. Let me take you home tonight
I power washed the driveway earlier today and when done sat down for a nice Imperial Hazy IPA called Full Contact from Elysian Brewery. Seattle Washington 8.8% ABV. This was hard because not a bad song on this album at all. Has to be one of the best debut albums of all time. 8- Hitch a Ride 7- Something About You 6- Let Me Take You Hime Tonight 5- Rock & Roll Band 4- Smokin 3- Peace of Mind 2- More Than a Feeling 1- Foreplay/Long Time This order subject to change every ten seconds. #1 is definitely #1 the others I could just put the titles in a hat and just start drawing the orders. Entire album is pretty killer IMO. Great show gentlemen and cheers to ya all! 🍺
Beer Talk Fan!! 🍺🍺🍺 I’m on holiday in Kendal watching this great episode with my Dad. What a fantastic album debut album from start to finish. I only like the first 4 albums of Boston and I would even rank them in that order too. Foreplay / Long Time my favourite track by Boston played loud on any hifi!
As you guys stated, this album just doesn't get old. I don't necessarily listen to the entire album front to back all the time but I hear all the songs on it on a regular basis. See my rankings below...I will say that "Hitch a Ride" is my favorite classic rock song of all time. The guitar solos at the end are also my favorite. Perfection! 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Something About You 6. Smokin' 5. Rock & Roll Band 4. More Than a Feeling 3. Peace of Mind 2. Foreplay/Long Time 1. Hitch a Ride
As a female beer hater from Shropshire, I’d just like to say, you guys are so entertaining you could talk about the weather for an hour and it would still be great! Keep up the good work! ❤️
@@TranquilityFireReid Steven my good friend from Scotland, have you listened to the new remix of Animals by Pink Floyd, I would love to hear your thoughts..
I really enjoy listening to you guys. The Boston `sound` is unique and very special and as you say it still sounds fantastic after all these years. Aha, Nightwish next...looking forward to that!
This album has never gotten old for me. Loved it when I first heard it as a kid in '76 and still love it today. I'm tired of some of the greatest albums ever released......tired of Zeppelin II......tired of Dark Side.....I'm tired of Paranoid.....but I'm not tired of Boston's debut. Thanks, guys. P.S. I love beer and I'm always looking for new ideas. Anything except IPAs 🤢😁
My ranking 8. Something about you 7. Let me take you home tonight 6. Hitchin' a ride 5. Foreplay / Long time 4. Smokin' 3. Rock 'n' roll band 2. Peace of mind 1. More than a feeling
I quickly jotted down my list before you revealed your picks so I wouldn't be influenced and this is what I came up with: 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Something About You 6. Smokin' 5. Hitch A Ride 4. Rock & Roll Band 3. Peace Of Mind 2. More Than A Feeling 1. Foreplay/Long Time
Great show guys! Hard to rank these but #1 was pretty easy. 1. Something About You 2. Foreplay/Long Time 3. More than a Feeling 4. Hitch a Ride 5. Peace of Mind 6. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Smokin' 8. Rock n Roll Band
Congrats lads. The UK connection ranking the Boston debut album was Kickass phenomenal. Today it's raining in Franconia (Northern Bavaria), so I will open one or two of the great Friedman Pils or Hell (Lager) and listen to the Boston debut. Smokin' for my ears is sounding very ZZ Top. My #1 & #2 on a perfect album are Peace of Mind or Foreplay / Long Time. It would be nice ranking Thin Lizzy's Thunder and Lightning or some other albums of them. Thanks again for this great episode. Greetings from Walkersbrunn / Franconia. .
Perfect album. In order to play along, I have to go by the 'on repeat' factor - the tracks I just can't resist listening to over and over whenever I pull an album out. My top three, especially, fall into this category. Right off the bat - don't expect a typical ranking from me. Goes like this: 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Smokin' (Still great, but I love most everything else on here more.) 6. Hitch a Ride 5. More Than a Feeling (Heard it a million times, but it's still excellent.) 4. Foreplay/Long Time (This will be tops for most; For years, I actually thought it was my number one.) 3. Rock & Roll Band 2. Peace of Mind (Perfect song.) 1. Something About You (Perhaps a cousin to #2, musically-speaking, but it's the one I've always went for the most.) The opening section for this episode was epic; Thirty seconds in: Tell 'em, Pete! Steven killed me with that brilliant introduction during his choice of beverage segment. And I especially loved Simon's choice. 😉 Great show!
Great show, gentlemen! I like the beer talk at the beginning of the show, and I am not much of a beer drinker. In fact, the last beer I drank was last October. 🍺 I listen to Boston's debut album all the time. My top three choices are more of a tie for me. The order could change, but #4-8 stay pretty much the same. My list: 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Something About You 6. Hitch a Ride 5. Rock & Roll Band 4. Smokin' 3. Peace of Mind 2. Foreplay/Long Time 1 More Than a Feeling
1. Smokin' 2. Foreplay / Long Time 3. Peace of Mind 4. More than a feeling 5. Rock and Roll Band 6. Hitch a Ride 7. Something about You 8. Let me Take you Home Tonight
I played this album constantly back in the late 70's/early 80's and I still do now. Timeless album, every songs a classic, a difficult set of songs to rank.
@@ik8034 I've heard people actually exclaim "how can he sing like that?" My reply is always the same: "I have no idea!" Whenever I get new stereo equipment, there is one disc I always reach for to test out the sound - BOSTON!!! Be well!
They’re all perfect and it seems like an impossible task. That said, for me, it shall go: 1. Foreplay/Long Time 2. Smokin’ 3. Peace Of Mind 4. More Than A Feeling 5. Something About You 6. Hitch A Ride 7. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 8. Rock And Roll Band Where I’m originally from, my old local rock station still to this day plays every song from the album.
I’m loving this series. It’s awesome having an entire video dedicated to one album. Really hope y’all keep doing these! Maybe even bring it onto the other programs like hudson valley squares and in the prog seat?
The only way I can figure out my ranking is by listening to an album over & over until I choose one song over the other & determine the overall order. I often listen to 2 songs several times in a row until I decide which one I like more; it's the only way. I've done this with many of my CDs. It's great to see you incorporate this idea into Sea Of Tranquility, Pete, & it's awesome that Simon & Steven joined you! Great video! It was, unsurprisingly, still many "listens" for me to do Boston, but it was great to hear it again & again. 8. Something About You 7. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 6. Rock & Roll Band 5. Hitch A Ride 4. Foreplay/Long Time 3. Peace Of Mind 2. More Than A Feeling 1. Smokin' (This song always gets me; it's an amazing song & has been my favorite since I was a kid. From 2:18 on, how it builds to the killer organ solo, is killer!) I think it would be in my top 15 albums ever. Since I first heard it back in the 70's, I've loved it. I love every song. I can understand why any of these songs could be someone's favorite. This week, I realized how great Hitch A Ride is; it's so good, but I couldn't put it in my top 4. It's so great! You can't go wrong with any of them.
Please ignore the people who don't want to hear the beer talk. I love this show and being an ale fan, Iike to hear what you guys are drinking. Keep up the good work 🍺🤘
Alcohol talk in the beginning of this show is tradition. Tradition aren't made to be broken. For those who have an issue: "Bug Off" or "Funk Off" Alcohol segment of the show is a tradition. The songs on this album are timeless. As such no matter how much you've heard them, hear them, it is always an outstanding choice to hear that song from that album at that moment. The song that is ranked 8th can be ranked 1st on 99.9% on any other album. That's how great this album is. And there next two albums aren't too shabby either. I listen to them on a regular basis. Great show!
When I watch UK Connection I always make a mental note to invest in better beer, a 25 cent can from the supermarket won't cut it here! My CD of Boston's debut is Tom's remaster from the 2000s with full lyrics and lots of liner notes. I want to get all the other albums but I'm hoping they do one of those 5 album set jobs...
Great show guys!! 1) foreplay/long time 2) More than a Feeling 3) Peace of Mind 4) Smokin 5) Something about you 6) Hitch a Ride 7) Rock n Roll band 😎 Let me take you home tonight
8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Hitch A Ride 6. Something About You 5. Foreplay/Long Time 4. Smokin 3. Rock and Roll Band 2. Peace Of Mind 1. More Than A Feeling
8 Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7 Rock & Roll Band 6 Hitch a Ride 5 Smokin' 4 Something About You 3 Peace of Mind 2 Foreplay/Longtime 1 More Than a Feeling
First album I ever bought and still one of my favorite. Maybe the best debut album of all time. Unfortunately, they never came close to it again. That said, My order: 1. Something About You 2. More Than A Feeling 3. Smokin 4. Peace of Mind 5. Foreplay/Long Time 6. Rock and Roll Band 7. Hitch A Ride 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight
Controversial Ranking. 8: Foreplay/Long Time (Love it) 7: Let me take you home tonight 6: Smokin 5: Something about you 4: Rock 'N' Roll Band 3: Hitch a Ride 2: More than a feeling 1: Peace of Mind I love all the songs on this Album.
1. Hitch A Ride 2. Foreplay/Long Time 3. Smokin 4. Rock And Roll Band 5. Peace Of Mind 6. More Than A Feeling 7. Something About You 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight
Hard for me to rank them. For me, this album is a 37min and change epic piece of music, sans tracks, and when I listen (46 yrs and counting), I am a passenger in the space guitar, and I'm being propelled from planet to planet-all 8 of em perpetuating into one song, that's how I experience it anyway. Can't think of another album I feel that way about, but I have more than a feeling that maybe it was intended that way:))...Fun episode guys.
1) Foreplay/Long Time...a prog masterpiece that is also a hard rocker 2) Peace of Mind...great lyrics, music to match 3) Smokin'...a party song/jam session, through and through 4) Rock And Roll Band...short and sweet 5) More Than A Feeling...the epitome of a power ballad 6) Hitch A Ride...nice and romantic 7) Something About You...great singing, great musicianship 8) Let Me Take You Home Tonight...the only song that might not be called great, just good...it goes on a bit too long 6 and 7 are equal, but 6,7,8 are a notch below 1-5
Thank you Steven for bringing up Pete's usage of 'quite good', there have been several reviews where he's called albums 'quite good' and I've thought, Aha, even though he's saying nice things about this he doesn't really rate it at all...mighta been wrong on some of those...whoops! As for Boston...they are a one album band for me, did have the 2nd and 3rd albums on vinyl, but they never got 'upgraded' as they only had one track a piece I really cared for (Don't Look Back and Hollyann, respectively), so Walk On is my second favourite Boston album, on the basis that I actually like around half of it! As for the debut, the top 6 are untouchable and could be in any order for me, but the bottom two are clear, Rock and Roll Band at #7 (still like it, tho it's clearly not autobiographical, they never did gig before this (did they?) and I don't hear any lyrics like 'I dicked around in my basement for years and got some bloke to sing some stuff'). And I don't hate my #8 but I don't much like it either...Smokin'. Sorry, doesn't do much for me, organ solo or no... (Ducks, possibly not for the first time in this post!). '
@@TranquilityFireReid Yep - "quite good" is "damned with faint praise" - I heard that somewhere, can't remember where - on TV or in a film. I'm also struggling with Pete saying something grew like a hot potato?! Also, Simon alternating between things being "shit" (bad) and "the shit" (good)!! Isn't the English (Scottish/American) language great?!!
@@TranquilityFireReid Who knows?!! I was always told "it's not what you say it's how you say it". So, if Simon says it with a scowl then it's bad - if he says it with a smile then it's good - then again, when have you ever seen Simon smile?!!
I liked Simon's run down on who was in the chart at the time of the album. Maybe you guys could do a UK 🇬🇧 run down and Pete can do a USA / billboard run down in future? It gives some nice context and background to the music scene at the time and how the record does / doesn't fit...
Yes, enjoyed that. The UK Album chart could be weird at this point with the likes of Slim Whitman having number one albums way after their commercial peak in the fifties. Boston peaked for two weeks at number 11. It would have made the top 10 but for a certain new Fleetwood Mac album soaring 57-7 in its second chart week.
There are no bad songs on this album. It's a 10/10 for me. 8) Hitch A Ride 7) Let Me Take You Home Tonight 6) Smokin' 5) Something About You 4) Foreplay/Long Time 3) Rock & Roll Band 2) More Than A Feeling 1) Peace Of Mind
This was a hard exercise to do. I listened to the album on my way home from work. It has the best opening and closing songs. Every song on this album is a classic. Here is my track ranking. 8. Hitch A Ride 7. Rock & Roll Band 6. Something About You 5. Smokin' 4. Foreplay/Long Time 3. Peace Of Mind 2. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 1. More Than A Feeling Number one and number 8 was easy. Now ranking the rest was hard. Let Me Take You Home Tonight sounds like a Paul McCartney and Wings song to me always a personal favorite. The reason why that Foreplay/Long Time is number 4 is my classic rock stations plays this song to death more than any other track on the album. That's why its rank where it is.
Great episode, gents. 8 - Let Me Take You Home Tonight 1- Foreplay/Long Time - 1 Brad Delp - no better voice, in my opinion. R.I.P. Once again, ‘love the beer intros. Cheers!
Oh yes meant to mention your comment Pete about `A Man I`ll Never Be`. That is also my favourite track on the second album by quite a long way and it`s also my favourite Boston track from any of their albums. Absolutely brilliant song!
There is absolutely no doubt about it. This album is a standout masterpiece..start to finish top to bottom however you care to label it. The production and arrangements are stellar!! Another album which i consider a masterpiece is “Moving Waves” by Focus..Perhaps that is one for the guys to look at to. Great show Pete as usual. Love the UK connection being a resident of the UK.👍🏻👍🏻
I always look forward to the beer intro of these episodes. I`m enjoying a lovely IPA now . And I can`t think of a time I wasn`t enjoying a pint or 2 during an episode of The UK Connection.( Or many of the other SOT programs for that matter). Keep it up lads
Terrific conversation, Gents. My own ranking: 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 7. Peace of Mind 6. Foreplay/Long Time 5. Smokin 4. Rock and Roll Band 3. Hitch A Ride 2. Something About You 1. More Than A Feeling All these songs are amazing. Really hard to make the list.
One of the first albums I ever bought, and while the passing of time has seen some of my early favourites cast aside, I still play this album on a regular basis and love every second of it🥰. I sing along, whistle every note of every guitar solo, and play air drums to every drum fill (I even play air keyboards to Foreplay and the solo in Smokin'🤭). Like Pete, it's probably the album that I've played more than any other. 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight. 7. Smokin'. 6. Rock & Roll Band. 5. Something About You. 4. Hitch A Ride. 3. Peace Of Mind. 2. More Than A Feeling. 1. Foreplay / Long Time. The second album is criminally underrated (Dont Look Back, A Man I'll Never Be, and Feelin' Satisfied are fantastic), and I wanted to like Third Stage so much but was left massively underwhelmed😢 (And the beer discussion is part of the UK Connection's charm🍺)
One of my favorite moments in my life so far was driving up to Chicago on 2/1/19 to see Ruby the Hatchet . . About halfway there, I put on that first Boston album, and the song hitting me at that point (it’s Winter; dad had died 4 months before) was “Hitch A Ride”-I’m gonna clear this ice & fly!-and it just melded with where I was at that stage. 1. More Than A Feeling 2. Foreplay/Long Time 3. Smokin’ 4. Hitch A Ride 5. Something About You 6. Rock and Roll Band 7. Peace of Mind 8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight.
I'll not get to watch the show til Sunday afternoon, so to avoid being influenced by anyone's picks my ranking is - 1.Foreplay/Long Time 2.Peace of Mind 3.More than a Feeling 4.Hitch a Ride 5.Smokin 6.Something About you 7.Rock &Roll Band 8.Let me Take you Home Tonight To be honest the positions apart from no 1 and 8 could change at any time as the album in the main is almost a perfect album. I just wish they'd left the last song off. They could have added another short instrumental or extended some of the solo parts even put on a different song as they had a few others lying around, its just to me the overall quality of Let me Take you home doesnt quite match the quality of the rest. Then again its not bad per-se but its just overshadowed by the company it keeps.
Steven this episode gets the Captain Approved hype sticker for excellence. A masterpiece of a record perfect in every way. BTW how’s that Animals remaster sound?
Nice to know Cap! I like the remix. It's clear and maybe slightly less obvious in the way it handles the guitars. It almost feels like it lives more neatly i its space in the catalogue between the two albums it does building a bridge between them.
@@franciskocher200 Yeah pretty close, any track that comes on I listen to it & I don't do that with a lot of albums. Nostalgia plays a BIG part too no doubt as it came out while I was a freshman in High School. Been listening to live versions of these tracks lately & it's almost a whole new experience. It's really amazing how good Delp's voice sounded live!
Another great show guys. I do like the beer talk. Love that Queen one Simon. This is definitely one of these albums all killer no filler. I bought it when it came out and it's still a favourite to this day. There's an argument that the songs are in the correct order.ie 1st best and 8least best. I would make slight change with first 3.bring reversed. 1. Foreplay/LongTime,2 Peace of Mind 3 More than a feeling. You know when you're in the car and a track comes on and you can't leave until it's finished, for me More Than a feeling is one of these. Never grow tired of it.
Loved it then, love it now. This is the definition of a "perfect album." And to think they were "just another band out of Boston..." You're right though, because Tom was such a control freak, how much did the rest of the guys play on this album? No matter, all the songs are great and quite memorable. 👌👌👍👍 The kids nowadays don't know what great music/albums are. Take notes, adults of the future.
I’m a huge beer fan! I look forward to your discussion of your beer choices each week. I’m planning to go to Scotland next year and will be looking for some of the beers/breweries Steven has recommended. Cheers🍺
Hello chaps, another entertaining show as always. Good album choice as this is one of those rare beasts where you never skip a track. A great lp from start to finish, but for me its peace of mind, foreplay/longtime. I don't drink because i drive a great deal, but i don't mind you guys chewing the fat about the beer. I noticed that mrs simon had draged the burnley curmudgeon to see kim wilde. Been outside the sot paradigm again uncle simon.
Tom Scholz's bass playing on this album must be mentioned - melodic, but in the pocket, perfectly serving the song whilst adding some extra character and flavour. Lovely stuff and he did it again on the next album.
Not an album I listen to all the time, but a good one. 01. Foreplay / Long Time - I mean come on, I love this kinda stuff. This is pure early/mid 70s Styx. 02. Smokin' - Really good stuff, love the harmonized vocals and the organ solo. 03. Rock & Roll Band - Really fun song that just appeals to me on some deeper level. 04. More than a Feeling - This is the classic and the song I've heard on the radio a million times. Don't mind hearing it another million. 05. Peace of Mind - Cool song, not my favorite. 06. Hitch a Ride - Neat song. There isn't really a problem with this one and the solo is cool, just doesn't grab me as much as others. 07. Something About You - Alright. Feels a bit flat in comparison to the rest of the album. 08. Let Me Take You Home Tonight - The only song on this album I don't care for at all. Pretty great album, I think it deflates on side 2 though. I've never listened to Nightwish before so maybe I'll at least give them a try until next week.
Love this video...thanks for making it Pete! One thing I want to discuss and would love your opinion. You guys comment on how these first two albums make one of the greatest one-two debut sophomore punches of all time but, if you recall, Don't Look Back was harshly criticized when it came out because it "sounded too much like the first album." That opinion never really phased me but it continues til this day. I even heard in an interview with Def Leppard's Joe Elliot that he "didn't just want to make another 'Don't Look Back'" when referring to doing something different in their music making. I thought it was strange that this stigma remains on what is actually an excellent follow up. Thoughts?
I never get tired of Boston and talking about Boston

I agree, Pete! A Man I’ll Never Be is an EPIC Boston track! My favorite Boston song!
Supping an Adnams Ease Up IPA this evening and enjoying another hugely entertaining dissection of a truly classic album. Thanks gents.

I haven't drank in 23 years and I still like to hear these guys talk about beer it's part of the charm of the show😂
Congrats lads.
Greetings from Walkersbrunn / Franconia. .
Thanks Hans!
Cheers Hans!
I love the beer/drinks talk haha don’t ever take that out lol 🤘
Perfect album. In order to play along, I have to go by the 'on repeat' factor - the tracks I just can't resist listening to over and over whenever I pull an album out. My top three, especially, fall into this category. Right off the bat - don't expect a typical ranking from me.
Goes like this:
8. Let Me Take You Home Tonight
7. Smokin' (Still great, but I love most everything else on here more.)
6. Hitch a Ride
5. More Than a Feeling (Heard it a million times, but it's still excellent.)
4. Foreplay/Long Time (This will be tops for most; For years, I actually thought it was my number one.)
3. Rock & Roll Band
2. Peace of Mind (Perfect song.)
1. Something About You (Perhaps a cousin to #2, musically-speaking, but it's the one I've always went for the most.)
The opening section for this episode was epic; Thirty seconds in: Tell 'em, Pete! Steven killed me with that brilliant introduction during his choice of beverage segment. And I especially loved Simon's choice. 😉
Great show!
Thanks KV! Loving the rationale behind your choices.
Great show, gentlemen! I like the beer talk at the beginning of the show, and I am not much of a beer drinker. In fact, the last beer I drank was last October. 🍺
I listen to Boston's debut album all the time. My top three choices are more of a tie for me. The order could change, but #4-8 stay pretty much the same.

1. Smokin' (This song always gets me; it's an amazing song & has been my favorite since I was a kid. From 2:18 on, how it builds to the killer organ solo, is killer!)
I think it would be in my top 15 albums ever.
Great show!
Yes. As the poets say - "If you don't like what you see here, get the funk out".😎👍
As a beer snob I always enjoy watching them introducing their brews 😀The question is why this album never got the deluxe/special edition treatment?
A good observation. And this album will be 50 years old in less than 4 years. Hoping for something before their "original" fan base passes away.
Scholz doesn't have time to set a deluxe album up he's in his studio dungeon recording a new album for at least a whole decade alone 🗿

1) Foreplay/Long Time...a prog masterpiece that is also a hard rocker
2) Peace of Mind...great lyrics, music to match
3) Smokin'...a party song/jam session, through and through
4) Rock And Roll Band...short and sweet
5) More Than A Feeling...the epitome of a power ballad
6) Hitch A Ride...nice and romantic
7) Something About You...great singing, great musicianship
8) Let Me Take You Home Tonight...the only song that might not be called great, just good...it goes on a bit too long
6 and 7 are equal, but 6,7,8 are a notch below 1-5
'
My pleasure Jospeh - and the Rock n Roll Band part in your post made me laugh! Cheers!
@@TranquilityFireReid Yep - "quite good" is "damned with faint praise" - I heard that somewhere, can't remember where - on TV or in a film.

Classic Debut album..all over FM radio back in the day.even my kids love the album they're in their 30's now.
I liked Simon's run down on who was in the chart at the time of the album. Maybe you guys could do a UK 🇬🇧 run down and Pete can do a USA / billboard run down in future? It gives some nice context and background to the music scene at the time and how the record does / doesn't fit...
I like that idea Monkey House!

Number one and number 8 was easy. Now ranking the rest was hard. Let Me Take You Home Tonight sounds like a Paul McCartney and Wings song to me always a personal favorite.

To be honest the positions apart from no 1 and 8 could change at any time as the album in the main is almost a perfect album.

Tom Scholz's bass playing on this album must be mentioned - melodic, but in the pocket, perfectly serving the song whilst adding some extra character and flavour. Lovely stuff and he did it again on the next album.
I don't see people talk about this a lot. His bass playing is really phenomenally good.
Not an album I listen to all the time, but a good one.

The debut by Boston went to # 3 in late 1976 on Billboard Top 200 Album Charts.
Thoughts?
