Night Before the End is just so hauntingly beautiful. When I watched their video explaining their thought processes while making the songs for Live and Fall, Jooyeon mentioned how he made NBtE with the idea of the last hour before a meteor crash in mind. It's dreadful, inevitable, and it really hammers in the hopelessness of your world ending, which is how you feel when a love falls through. It's just too good, istg, and it works fantastically as their title track.
I feel like the symbolism of the moth makes the messages and themes in the mv more emotional since moths are attracted to light. It reminds me of that story of a moth being warned not to fly towards the light, but doing so anyways and burning to death. The death by fire could symbolize the the relationship, the emotions each person had for each other, or the actual death of someone. It could also be thought that (since we see someone falling off a building) these lyrics could be the thought of someone ending their life. They would hope that the person addressed does not feel guilty as if it was their fault for not noticing, but rather they hated them for doing what they did. It could be reflections of memories with the person, or memories that led to the day of their fall. I feel that the ending of the mv, seeing the members with the moth wings could be them, before falling. Safe to say, this song definitely made me cry. Thanks for the lovely video!
Absolutely beautiful song and mv!! Personally I thought it was a moth more so than a butterfly. Moths are drawn to light so it's in their nature to be drawn to the flame even if it'll end up hurting them.
