If you add red to the metallic copper it will show up beautifully and it will match the metallic motif. Also if you add the right blue to the yellow gold it makes a beautiful metallic green.
Laura- Thanks for the color mixing hints. I tried the red into the copper and it worked well! I put green watercolor into the silver for my green, but will try your hint of putting blue into a yellow gold on my next painting.
Those are very pretty and elegant. I’ve been playing around with black watercolor paper which I’m placing on deep red plain cards. They look very pretty, but now I wish I had plain ivory cards as well. So many, many pretty things this season. Thank you, Ellen.
Something I've tried when painting colours on black is to paint it with white first and then paint the red on top of the white once it was dry. It worked really well for me.
Such lovely cards for Christmas I have a brand-new paint box of metallics with greens and white and gold I’m gonna have a lot of fun. Sometimes less is more. You give me such great idea for my cards. KISS - keep it simple silly.
Just love your cards, absolutely gorgeous and so elegant🌟 Thank you for sharing all your amazing ideas. And your hand is so steady when you do the border lines! Mine just wobble all over the place 🤭 Thank you for sharing all your amazing ideas 💕💓
Just beautiful Ellen! I’m going to make some bookmarks using this idea. I’ll have to go look for the black craft paper. I think someone makes black watercolor paper too. Maybe Strathmore. Blessings to you!
@@janierimer7371 thanks. Yeah, I found some Stonehenge on Amazon. That’s going to arrive tomorrow and I’ve already got the metallic watercolor. Can’t wait to play. Ellen always has great ideas to share. Blessings to you!
Beautiful cards, and so easy, thank you! Just a heads up your background music makes it hard to hear what you were saying at the beginning of the tutorial.
So beautiful! 😍 I love the metallic mixed with the colors. The "theme" of my tree is always silver, white, clear, black and deep burgundy. To me silver and burgundy looks so beautiful together. Then my house I use all those colors plus woodland/vintage vibes. I've never been a fan of gold, but I love these cards. Maybe I'll try one later. 🖤
@@ellencrimitrent thank you! My life as an interior designer and custom home decor maker has made me realize over the years what I like. I've decorated homes with all different "themes", but I always went back to that for my house. Kind of winter wonderland feeling ❄️ I took all my decor out today 😂 I'm ready.
Ha I heard nothing of your intro due to the background music being on the loud side. But I must make this as I just got my black paper. I have metallic paints for ages I'm dyin to use
Lovely! How do you adhere the painting to the paper? Double sided tape is too hard for me to manage, glue doesn’t seem to stick and hot glue gun can leave the paper lumpy 😟. Help!
have you ever tried rubber cement glue?? you do it on both papers sticks amazing so put on black paper and the paper it goes on in the spot it goes on you can just put a quick swipe across top & bottom
Ellen, I'm a beginner painter and I want to know how to manage my paint pallet. It gets pretty messy but I don't want to wash all of my paints away after each session.
Hi Ellen, I watch your marvelous channel every day on Utube, however I don’t see any further info that you speak of! Is there any other way to get more information regarding your paintings? Thanks for your help Sheila, Westport, Ct
shaky is good for trees!! you don't need to make precise lines- wiggle the branches same with the greenery coming down from top- the ornament might be tricky .
Easy yes, the black is outside of my comfort zone. I will PRACTICE on blk crdst and metalic markers/pens first

Do you know if this is metallic acrylic paint?
@@amyspeckman3333 it appears the metallic she is using is water based. I have that pallet. I’m sure you could use (lightly) water down acrylics
@@amyspeckman3333 I believe that’s a metallic watercolor.
Love the metallic paint on black paper. The metallic drawings pop and it looks so elegant too.

Lovely. Love your art
I also use these watercolours and the gemstone set.
Great paints
You said that you use these metallics. What name brand are they?
Love these cards! As soon as I can go to the craft store for paper I’m going to make several!
Love these! Thank you!
These are so beautiful! I'm so happy I found you on YT
sorry to ask but what is glosh and couldn't understand you o what kind of paper but love ur tutorials
These are lovely. I'm wondering what kind of adhesive do you prefer for attaching the watercolor paper to the card.
Lovely, I loved that music too. Mb this can go on wine bottle?
Absolutely!
Thank you for sharing this Ellen! What is this brand of metallics?
Thank you, Ellen. This tutorial gives me courage! I love using black as a background. Do you think a Bokeh technique would work on black?
Ha I heard nothing of your intro due to the background music being on the loud side. But I must make this as I just got my black paper. I have metallic paints for ages I'm dyin to use

I was given some metalic and I want to try it it but as I told you before I'm old so I don't know. What size brush are you using?
Are you using card stock?
more easy holiday cards!! ruclips.net/video/OY2IM5jVi-o/видео.html
Do you glue or tape the 2 papers together?
What do you mean by craft paper?
Construction paper?
Gorgeous! Thank you Ellen! I have a question. I just joined your Patreon and would like to know if past patterns are available?
Can you erase after , gotcha just now. What would you use as a matte?
Ellen, I'm a beginner painter and I want to know how to manage my paint pallet. It gets pretty messy but I don't want to wash all of my paints away after each session.
Use less paint so U can wash away the tiny amount that’s mixed.
Did you say you just used black Cardstock?
I can’t get my paint to be smooth, it looks good but I don’t get the definition that you get. Can you help?
Is this metallic acrylic paint?
how do you get your lines so thin? Mine always are much thicker-even with a number 4 brush
Hi Ellen, I watch your marvelous channel every day on Utube, however I don’t see any further info that you speak of! Is there any other way to get more information regarding your paintings? Thanks for your help Sheila, Westport, Ct
I have always struggled with pine trees. Big, little and in between.
Any ideas how to steady a shakey hand caused by heart meds
shaky is good for trees!! you don't need to make precise lines- wiggle the branches same with the greenery coming down from top- the ornament might be tricky .
Couldn't hear what you were saying in the beginning, as the music was too loud. Just a FYI for future ; ) The cards were super!
👍🏻
🙏❤️💗💕
I'm going to try this and tag you on my IG ☺️❤️❄️
Ellen when you speak with the music it's impossible to anderstand for my Who is french.
