Yes and no. Other avatars had mastered their skills and had grown to adulthood. While aang had to fight a powered up master of fire bending at the physical age of 12. He had to tank blows that would make a grown man cry and he had a limited time to train.
I’ve been saying this for every Korra reaction when they reach this point, it’s so nice to see people understanding that this is expanding the lore and that it’s a very amazing story. Back when this aired, all you see is people hating on it and saying it’s retconning ATLA. Like did you not remember Aang got energy bending from a Lion Turtle? 😂 Anyway, very great reaction. Ooooo can’t wait till you see the finale!
I've realized some people are unable to tell the difference between something GIVING the humans the element vs humans LEARNING the element from something. So some people are like "I thought people learned firebending from the dragons! They're retconning! >:( " Yes - people did learn it from the dragons.. they learnt the ART of firebending and how to use it as an extension of themselves from the dragons - BUT dragons cannot GIVE you the ability of firebending.
@@naruchancutie1Yeah, and if it was as easy as just learning it from the original source, then anyone who wanted to be a bender should have been able to be one.
Something important to note about this episode. Vaatu said "I have lived 10,000 lifetimes" not year, lifetimes. And if each lifetime is 10,000 years before each harmonic convergence, then obviously he's lived for a fuck ton of time. But what's really important about that is, raava called the lion turtle "ancient one". How old do you have to be for someone who's lived 10,000 lifetimes, to still be called ancient one? 11:24 yea completely fair, not to detract from aang and his journey, but he did kinda have it easy. At least compared to wan, and maybe korra. I dunno how you guys would rank her struggles t this point 13:57 you silly billies, they already explained everything about korra's dads banishment

I have a theory about when Aang invented the air scooter, what if Wan sort of came to Aang in a dream and told him about how he saw the first human Airbenders riding on clouds.
12:15 Actually thinking about it the avatar state is the merging of the spirit(Raava), body(Wan), and the universe(harmonic convergence) basically gaining enlightenment
They already said why Korra’s father was banished… he destroyed the sacred forest trying to get rid of the raiders and her uncle hired. Also the sage said that the air bison are from the war… well before aang and appa were released. They’re not appas kids
Pretty sure they're different species too, because Appa was consistently called a "Sky Bison" and he has different tail markings; so I think Korra's Bison are an offshoot...
Funfact, Aang’s first kill was a Spirit. Continuing i. The footsteps of avatars Yangchen and kuruk. (Yangchen is the reason Kuruk died so young 😒 when you kill a spirit, your lifespan is shortened)
not sure about Aang’s first kill but I know (SPOILERS FOR KYOSHI NOVELS) From what I remember in the Kyoshi novels it’s explained that when Yangchen was the avatar the physical world was doing really well and at peace, but she essentially favored them over the spirit world which led to neglect and a loooot of angry spirits. She doesn’t get the chance to fully fix this and after she passes and Kuruk is the avatar, he spends an exhausting amount of time fighting corrupt spirits and attempting to return the spirit world to what it was, which ultimately cost him majority of his lifespan. Kuruk died at the age of 33.
Those Bisons are not descendents of Appa. Actually that old lady said they were raising them since the hundred years war, and them she presented one to the Avatar. In the comics Aang found out the air bisons were not totally instinct, and he came here find a partner for Appa
She said that she didn't expect to present on to the Avatar, as in Korra, in this episode. But yeah, true. I think these are Air Bison are another subspecies of bison, unlike Appa who was a Sky Bison
fun little fact: all the air bisons in this series have brown ears, while appa had white ears. it’s little genetic difference that shows how the lost herd was isolated, and now this characteristic has been passed down to all the new bison
It's different, there was 100 years of fire nation domination. Where his people were completely wiped out and other nations with major casualties. I've always wondered why the avatar is named like this: avatar. I have a (stupid) theory that explains it: if you take the entire name of Raava plus the T in Vaatu you have Avatar. I also think that the "t" symbolizes the minimal force of chaos and darkness
it's because they are literally the Avatar of Raava. "Avatar" refers largely to Hinduism, and is the incarnation of a god (generally Vishnu) in human or animal form. After Wan, each of his predecessors were essentially aspects of Raava in human form, as their souls were bonded, basically one in the same (hence "avatar").
i think that the avatar cycle stops ,not becuse Raava dies as she is immortal ,but because in that state(the avatar state the bond should be more exposed to breakages ) when the human dies the bond breaks . So that means there will be no avatar until the next harmonic convergance ,because Raava will need to find someone else to bond with . Does it make sense,to you guys ?
In American English, to toss is to throw, so "fire tossers" just means people who throw fire. There are several words that are vulgar on one side of the pond and mundane on the other side.
Avatar can already bend the four elements even they are not bonded with raava. Lion turtles literally said “raava will hold the power until you master it”.
You aren’t entirely right about Aang “having the easiest final boss”. Vaatu can’t be defeated because he has to exist by necessity, but on multiple occasions we see that Wan and Korra’s regular firebending is able to harm Vaatu and overwhelm him. At the end of the day, he’s a spirit, not a God. Aang had to face the greatest firebender alive, whose firebending was amplified by 100x (stated by the extras). Roku believed he would be so powerful that not even the avatar could defeat him with just the four elements, and he was right. Ozai on that night was certainly far more powerful than somebody like Amon, Zaheer, Kuvira, or Unalaq. And with fire power multiplied by 100 times, its hard to imagine Vaatu actually being as powerful as him. Hes just simply not able to be destroyed, and has to be sealed by the avatar. The story kind of shoves in our face that the avatar is Vaatu's kryptonite. Ozai, on the other hand? We've never seen firebending quite like his.
I remember always asking myself why they called Aang the avatar... I was like "Avatar of what?" EVERYONE always treats the avatar title as a status of skill/ability when in actuality its just literally an Avatar for Raava.
Everybody reincarnates in the avatar world. Only the avatar gets to keep their memories via Raava who acts like a data bank appearing in the form of a past life. Whether the avatar's spirits live totally separate from the avatar is controversial
