I like the belt connection and the bandsaw kerf to cut out the center hole was perfect. Little solder or jb weld and the split no longer mattered. A casting foundry is on my list! Great job 🖤™️

Rather than soldering or using jb weld, could you not have added a couple of small extrusions to the back of the casting that you could hammer down like rivets instead? Or even just used what was already left over from the casting process?

if you take 2x4 wrap 3 or 4 newspapers around it tie end with wire soak in bucket of water , as soon as you pour grab 2x4 and hold tight over top of casting steam will force metal deeper into casting

What do you think about this Concept:
    ruclips.net/video/GNNxzaGu_t0/видео.html
The Concept is to use a gas-sealed box, and lay down metal in an Inert-Gas environment using Tungsten Electrodes, and wire-fed metals, with a CNC controlled Electrode Head, and likewise remove metal via CNC controlled Milling Head.
Basically, 3D Printing of Metal using TIG, combined with alternating machine passes, (via the same machine), to clean up each weld-pass as needed.
A hybrid Additive and Subtractive machining process.
Among other features, it would allow localized metal alloying by changing the feed stock, (metal wire), during the additive process.

Would a vacuum tool, i.e. mini plunger, glass lifter, be better to remove the mold from the sand because it has uniform contact, rather than prying it out at one point and possibly causing indents ? PS - live rounds would have been more exciting in the kiln!

Jimmy, are you tracking the icepick that is going around the world? I think it would be interesting to see how many miles it travels, as well as who uses it. So far I've been lucky to see a few videos where the makers received it. Okay, so I was a little behind on the learning curve here. I did catch up on "DIRESTAOFUS". Someone could have told me to search direstaofus, would have been cool. But I learned anyway.

Nice buckle Mr D. If I may, try drilling a couple of holes into the back of the pattern so you can screw a couple of self tapping screws into it. They'll give you a good place to lift out the pattern after you've rapped it without blowing out the edges. Hope that makes sense?
