- My wife, Jamie, and I hike to a place with our friends Snake, Lori, and Lorah, that was stripped mined until it suddenly flooded. Former location of the Preston #3 colliery and the Girrardville train station
Supposedly there is a 3rd hole (the 'C' hole) located 500 ft s.w. from the 'A' hole UP the mountain!
We shall return!!!
Too bad they cant make this a State Park!
(or could they?)

PA is so beautiful in the fall, I thought you were in west PA, maybe near Pittsburgh, I didn't know east PA is so dramatic, beautiful. I love seeing the old mines!
My cousin Robert actually passed away in the A-hole, 5 years ago. I think he dove off of that rock you guys were talking about in the beginning, he never resurfaced but the dive team saw his shoe from the shore. Don't know if he hit his head, or if the current from the waterfall on the oposing end just held him under but he was found at least 12 feet below the surface. Deep enough that the pressure he experienced from being under water for a prolonged period of time actually prevented an open casket. Either way, super tragic and I would never wish that on anyone. Drowning and fire has to be the worst way to die.
Sorry to hear that...yes. it's a dangerous place
Wow! Thanks for the cool hike! Alas I didn’t move to PA until my knees were shot, so without you I’d never get to see this cool stuff. Amazing terrain, history, and views. 👍❤️
the A and B holes drop 450 feet. A hole was our swimming hole after work. there's also a water fall on the south side of the A hole. a few of my friends build a shack up there remains should still be laying around. I can tell your not very aware of this area. We use to run around this area like the Indians.
Thanks for another great adventure. I’d often heard of those water holes, didn’t know their whereabouts. Now I do.
Ahhhhh memories! Sweet! Thank you!
i love eastern pa mine history thank you. i have explored this are alot but have never seen this thanks
This looks like a great place for drone footage.
Wow, this is awesome. I'm definitely gonna go check this out tomorrow!
Dont....they are looking for a drowning victim there. It just happened this week.
Make a nice state park add some picnic tables and some peddle boats enjoy a day on lake with gorgeous view

Cool video Chris! Interesting at the end when you said about the trestle that used to be there! I wonder when it was removed?
Cool video
😮this would make a nice new state park
So someone can fall, sue, and have it closed again?
Man,I'd love to fly over them holes!!!🎃✌️
There is a small airport up by Minersville on SR 901 off I81.
@@coalcrackerchris that's cool but I only need a small field.
There is one nearby!
I was there yesterday
Neat, right??
@@coalcrackerchris yah
OK A & B Hole ? What is missing here ?
Wish I was a scuba diver
Sometimes kids drown in those holes.
What causes the orange water?
I think its called sulfur dioxide, like rust water with chemicals and gasses mixed . metal machinery and the gasses in the rock combined with water. (A sign the mine is completely flooded )
Once beautiful,destroyed by men’s greed😰😰😰😰
What are you talking about?
whats ur buddy a gardner
No , scrap metal and property cleanup
Very dangerous place
Deadly too!
Three words. Dude. Man. Bott.
Taking videos while you're trespassing tells me that you gotta be from the skook. 🤦
It's on Famous Reading Outdoors
Still private land. You made a nice video, but if you're going to tresspass, please AT LEAST stay off the cliff tops. They are dangerous. People have fallen and unfortunately died. Their families lose a loved one, and mine has to deal with lawsuits. Thanks.
I have a premit from FRO
You have a permit from FRO to go on others property? I'm sorry if you're confused on property lines, but 371 acres of the land there is E.D.T. Corp property. I'm part owner. It is NOT Famous Reading Outdoor property. Just so you're aware. Like I said, I like your videos and your interest in the area. I support what you do... legally. We have just had deaths and lawsuits relating to the cliffs at the A hole.Althought it is a well-known spot in our area, I have mixed feelings about showing MORE people where this is at. And screwing around on the cliffs. I am sure you can understand this?
So sorry... my mistake..thought it was fro ..forgive me
