Silvo is one of the most ABRASIVE polishes on the market! You can even hear how abrasive it is. And toothbrushes should NEVER be used! I'm a professional silver conservator, take a look at my Silver Polish Abrasion Ratings page before you start polishing silver and regret what you used... www.hermansilver.com/silver-polish-abrasion-ratings.htm.

what's the stuff you're using on your cloth? i have a silver plated teapot. do i go about cleaning it in the same way? i notice you didn't clean the inside ... how can i make the inside as clean & fresh as possible without poisoning myself? lol

I used something called Brasso. It’s widely available in the UK and I imagine you could pick it up internationally on eBay or Amazon.
I should point out though, many comments suggest that this is not a good polish for Silver, however as I’ve pointed out, this teapot holds no particular financial or sentimental value for me, I simply polished it for my own amusement...and this video.

@@A_S_M_R Thanks for that. I know about Brasso. I thought it was only for brass items. How can I clean the INSIDE of a silver-plaited teapot? The material inside is different compared to the outside, isn't it? Thanks!

@@tituscaesar Yeah they only cover the outside in silver to make it look nice. The inside is just whatever metal they used to make the item. So you can clean it but not polish it or make it look good. And no one is going to notice! Except perhaps for the tea leaves. And fortunately they're not the style police, at least of the modern world. But when tea ruled the world you had to be really careful they didn't find out! 'Hmm, what have we got here then? Someone's neglected to clean the inside of this tea pot. We can't allow that. Do you think this is acceptable? We're not just any old tea you know. We've come halfway around the world to end up in your kitchen. And we're not putting up with this!

@@Antraeus Thanks for your message! I mostly use tea leaves from Fortnum & Mason's', London. Have you heard of them? For me it is not just the aesthetics of having a dirty teapot inside. Ultimately, I have found that the degree of cleanliness inside a teapot does affect the taste of the tea itself. So the cleaner it is the better. :)

@@tituscaesar Yes I have. Very posh. But then I always did hate the Romans. lol. My point was that you can easily clean the inside. It just won't look very nice because no one cares. That's why the makers didn't use silver. :)

Terrible advice. Brasso and a toothbrush will quickly destroy the finish on a piece of silver.
