    me again. :)
After a week and a half of caravanning together, Abi and I part ways. I readjust to life alone, and show some of my private moments as I settle back into solitude. Solitude is a powerful teacher. How long have you gone, without seeing a single other person? As I leap back into the wild, thinking about what it means to be misunderstood.
I hope you’re well. Talk soon.
    Lyss.

I love your story. My mom died last year, and my wife has been sick for a few years due to toxicity and environmental issues. Death erases all fears. I'm 37. I quit my job and used my savings to buy a trailer and tow vehicle. We are on the road and don't have a plan for tomorrow. Currently in AZ, and will be heading up north. Best of luck on your continued journey.

It blows my mind how so many people can't understand why someone would want to live this way, especially considering the current state of the world we live in. I can't wait to go off grid and disappear into nature, every ounce of my being tells me this is what I need to be happy. Thanks for your courage and for sharing your life with us through these videos. I see you and I understand why you do what you do. Never stop!

Two weeks, I have gone two weeks with complete silence and no people, no electronics. It felt like a long time. I did have pets to keep me company, and a horse to ride, and of course the wind in the trees. It is amazing how deep one can think during a time period like that.

The longest I have gone without seeing another person was about 8 weeks... It was wonderful. I spend a lot of time alone. i enjoy my own company and very rarely feel actual loneliness. I am a loner by nature and it took forty years before I found a partner who understands this. So now i have someone to share life with yet i still find myself craving solitude. I have a "mini camper" (a subaru) which i take off in whenever I can... overnighting in beautiful places, eating outdoors, swimming in rivers and lakes and the ocean. Alone. Always alone. I really don't think i want to share this part of my life. It is how i recharge, reconnect and refresh.
Solitude is not a bad thing.
    Stay safe xx

I’ve lived on the road for over 2 years. I drove through the U.S. in a 1995 Toyota Corolla and had an annual Anytime Fitness gym membership, which have showers, so I was able to stay fit and clean throughout the trip. I slept outside on beaches or inside my car at Costco parking lots during daylight hours and stayed up at night for safety. Activities were done early morning or early evening. My car has since broken down, so now I spend my life homesteading my family ranch, selling duck eggs and kimchi at the farmer’s market. I’m saving up for a Tesla. It shouldn’t be too long before I get on the road again.

Another really nice video, Alyssa! As usual, beautiful scenery in Utah. You asked about solitude. Since I am retired, live alone and a stroke recoverer, I sometimes don’t see another person for 7-10 days or even two weeks. Since I am basically a loner, it’s not bad at all. I spend my time reading (so many books on my reading list), watching movies and sports on TV and listening to music (I have a huge collection of records and CDs, plus streaming). And, I do make contact with friends through the phone and social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). So my type of solitude is not bad at all. I suggest you just stay busy and have some goals. And, most important, enjoy your chocolates, my friend! Chet, Roanoke, Virginia

As I get closer to my travel goals, certain things start to become known to family and friends. Like when you sell things, and are doing extra work on the house to prepare for selling it, questions come up. That is when societal norms are evident in the way most people view life. They think it's very strange to wanna go out on the road and live this way, they don't get it. They'll try and reason with you and talk you into going a different direction. To me, a simple life without all the entanglements of big houses filled with stuff is so freeing. The longer I live, the more minimalist I become. With age, experience and life lessons, a person starts to understand what really matters in life.

    I’m the call sign guy.
I hope you find everything you need for fulfillment. I think certain people are pragmatic and others are introspective. I too went on a sojourn and for folks like you and me who are introspective we must go on our own journey in life. I was the person who was alone in a crowd but also social. I think you know what I mean. I found my peace in skydiving, in the mountains and writing.
My journey was one of profound heart break do to death of my fiancé but many years later I began to date and found my wonderful wife who is my opposite, pragmatic, which is great. She keeps me from shutting out others and embrace a life in a way I never thought I wanted.
Take this time even if if it nearly breaks you. And if you’re like me it is in that you find your soul and what it truly wants. I’m now in my 50’s and I look back and reflect on my youth without regrets and know it was necessary for me to form my life that I cherish today. I will leave this life soon but I did live truly live a life that was unique and full.
So my hope is for everyone to know a life that is truly yours and not scripted even if that life ends sooner than we like.
    My prayers are with you.

Love your videos, your spirit of adventure and your willingness to explore life. A few years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and given a year or two at most. I quit my job, sold most of the stuff I owned, bought a great backpack, camping gear, fishing and hunting gear, some rations and a gun and I went to Alaska for the summer and just walked into the back country. No cell phone, no GPS, just a few maps and a compass. Spent a little over 3 months completely on my own. Figured if I died, what better place to call it quits. I never saw anyone, but I did see a lot of animals. I mostly survived on wild berries, fish I caught and a few rabbits. I never got lonely. I thrived on the peace and quiet and I really learned a lot about myself. Finally, I was ready to go back home so I hiked for two weeks and got back to a town. I eventually came back to the lower 48 and bought a small country cottage and started farming. Shockingly, my cancer had gone away and the doctors had no explanation. I can only assume that the lack of stress and the healthy eating had something to do with it. Now, I grow some crops, sell them at the local farmer's market and I love life. Your videos remind me of the joy I had during that time away. You are an amazing young lady and I admire you so very much. Keep going!

You asked the question of how long can one be away from humanity. I know that I’ve spent 10 years living off the grid on solar, water, wells, and rough roads. I love solitude, peace, and harmony. Humanity doesn’t offer those as a general rule. You do have to get away from Everyone. I love the wild places and usually only have my dogs with me. They understand me better than any human could ever understand me and yes, I would lay my life down or my dogs. Nowadays, I have a husband that is usually with me, but he’s needing to try to find his own space to be in. The past few years has been really tough on us and him in particular. 2019 on Christmas Eve he lost his mother and we’re trying to keep a store viable since pandemic. I wish him peace and serenity, but he needs to find that in himself before he will let anyone else in. That includes from me. My heart hurts because I love him so much, but I can’t deal with the negativity and let him know nowadays I wish I could run out to the wild places and just get lost and sharing in your life from the road and now your new home it’s like being with a friend who understands me. Thank you, Alyssa for sharing, and I look forward to your videos as it feels like connecting with a friend. And if you ever need a place to stay on your way to the desert, my home is open to you and Rio. Peace to you and Rio.

Thank you Lyss for the topic of solitude. I had to stop working as a mental health practioner 3 months ago, burned out, and I find myself more and more taking steps back so to speak, getting more and more into my safe cocoon of my home. A totally different kind of solitude, but it feels natural and safe to withdraw from people more and more, keeping in touch with my dearest friends and family. But yesterday I started wondering if this could lead into a depression, so I called my friend Eelco and we had a good discussion on this and we both think that solitude /cocooning is a healthy response to the overwhelming years behind me, and it may take some time to stay in solitude and eventually my body/soul/spirit will want to reach out again and come out of the cocoon. Your video helps me to see the healing power of solitude, thanks for that! With love and kindness from The Netherlands, Andre

As Alyssa said nothing last forever and then there was you alone. The best friend you have is yourself who will never leave you. In your solitude while enjoying the views and scenes sometimes what if props up to your mind. You long for companionship and community even along the way but it seems it part ways somehow. Just have courage Alyssa and experience your dream till you are young and able. Take care.

As I sit and think about all the wonderful content you have just given us, I can't help but see the comments you have received. From fans, supporters, well wishers and loved ones. It seems so many want to answer the question asked of you " What is the purpose of all this?" that was the question to you and I believe you answered if beautifully. However to answer your question to us, " How long have any of you gone without see a single person?"
I have gone two weeks. Two weeks of complete isolation. No people, pets, phone, or enter webs, No facebook, instagram or social media. Just me and all the hobbies that have distracted me from the feelings of being truly alone.

As I look at the city lights through your windscreen, I feel man's inhumanity to man being played out on the tableau beneath you. It happens every time I see people en masse...hurting others as if it's ok...you both are beautiful spirits and hurt no one and seek only to live your truth. Life is so sad right now. My heart breaks every day. Every time I see RUclips or the telly, I'm brought back to real life and am shattered again. I'd give anything to live like this with my basset hound and just be...no constraints or rules other than to be kind. Thank you sweet girl for your videos. They give me respite.

I've found your channel while at a crossroads in life, when everything is about to change and I have nothing certain to ground myself, not even a vehicle, and it's really comforting to be living vicariously through you even though I'm watching old video's, because I know I'll have my own bus (again) soon, and all the issues and challenges i'm faced with now will be gone, and of course replaced with new ones, however what's happening now is quite extreme and so I'm greatful to have found your video's because i can escape to the open road a little faster through them, thank you for sharing and please don't stop sharing! your video's are really watchable and unpretentious and your bus build is just stunning, I am far too lazy and impulsive to have the patience for a build like that but damn it's pretty!

The greatest journey one can experience, is the journey of self-discovery. Originally from Colorado, I started a journey of my own in 2012. That journey took me on a chase across the country and allowed me to become the man I am today.
I believe every person should take a journey of their own, and take the time to heal, to live, to love, and to grow.
You're doing an amazing job sharing your story. Keep focused on the moment - embrace every one of them, and learn those lessons along the way.

I've been putting such physical and mental energy into my calling, and I am surrounded by people who don't want meaningful relationships. I believe that you are a by-product of your environment, yet I still search for my "people," It is lonely and heartbreaking. When you lay yourself out, you put so much into your own journey to find some lackluster energy and care and growth. I've done this for a long time and have naturally become way more independent and comfortable with who I am and will not let things stop me from doing the something that drives me in life. I think what I see here is a person that cares for themselves immensely in their fulfillment. It's one thing to be alone and be truly alone in a room. But I also know people who are deathly afraid of all their loved ones, family members becoming dead and gone, and it is just them left out of that family. I also know people in a crowd of people and yet feel lonely. I am aware I work, dream, and talk on extreme ends, and it's not like I need only influential people to be with and befriend, but I feel my search (active or passive) for my tribe is a loss. And I get too comfortable being alone, and the funny thing is my passion. My calling takes an audience and people to work with. I recently felt connected to a person, only to find they were against my life choice tonight, and it felt more gut-wrenching to me as I have been all-in to my calling for 20 weeks now, and it hurt because I am vulnerable rt now. Vunbeabe, from giving so much of myself and meeting this person, gave me perspective on just how deep I've had to go to pull it out of me and then keep physically pushing more than the week prior. I know the work that lies ahead, and I also know it's worth it. I feel cold when I have to shut off and make zero efforts to make a personal connection or a relationship because that's my realm.
Getting to know strangers is easy, and so is public speaking but personal connections and like minds aren't that easy. Rt now, I a grateful for finding my calling, taking action by moving, and positioning myself to grow through the challenges. There are times when I just want to share it with close people and not hold it in. Be it wins, innovation, or just plan questions. IDK if I think on a higher level, but my focus and determination have made me see so much more, and it's been hard to feel alone, both personally and professionally. To be in uncharted waters and not have one soul to not fall on, but share the journey as I pumped to go through with my clear vision. Idk what is more demanding; building a business or building a business and being alone.

One issue is the random distribution curve (The Bell-shaped curve). It exists in nature and was discovered by mankind. So in a perfect life our friends, family and love interests would fall within the top 10%, the A group or the top 25% the total of the. A&B groups. So, if you have high standards, your close friends will reside in the top 10% however you define it. That means that out of 100 potential love interests you have met, at most 5-10 of them will be to your liking. Divide that number by half because half will not want you. So the reality for most persons is they have 1-5 possible love interests per hundred persons you have a relationship with. Experts say most of us get 1-3 chances to find long-lasting love. The odds are low but, not zero. So what happens is people stop trying, they give up because the odds of success are poor and suffering all of the rejection becomes demoralizing. The best plan is to find success when you are young. As we age generally people become less flexible and less able to make the connections needed to form a love bond. Last point, analysis of the curve points to the fact 75% of people are unsuitable mathematically to start an attempt at love bonding. The mathematics of love are long odds. Thats the source of your frustration. The universe is rigged against you. That's what you are feeling, the power of mathematics affecting your intimate life. Keep moving ahead understanding that success is not guaranteed. Keep your standard high.

A high-tech nomad. Not a bad way to live, at least for a time.
But never forget that thru all of it while your experiences may be singular in nature you are never truly alone. Your vehicle, the electronics by which you communicate with everyone, evinces a simple fact. You are part of a larger community, the human species.
Nobody is ever, truly, alone. Because to become so means one thing, you disappear. Completely. And this channel makes clear that while you may be struggling to come to grips with who your are in your current life cycle this is not something you wish to do.
Good luck to you on your path. A path we're all on.

I myself had a Rio. Except her name was Lily , a 17 yr. old Beautiful Golden Retriever. Only those of us that have had a relationship with our animals only know the true meaning of LOVE. She was everything to me as I led my life of solitude away from my family and friends. It was my choice to leave the old ....behind and to find a new.....new me. I could have been anyone I wanted to be and live my life in total obscurity. Only to find the one true me after my venture. My prayer for you is that in all of your searching when this adventure comes to a fork in the road, you (with Rio) will exchange glances and she will give you that side eye that we all know, and you will be richer for having had her as your friend and step into another adventure. Love to you.

You have got to be one of the best editors and/or director/producer on all of RUclips and I mean that sincerely. I really enjoy some of your cuts and angle shots from the B roll. It brings your videos to life in a subtle yet meaningful way. It’s really special to find someone who can simply live, and live a meaningful way without all the trappings of the material world and doesn’t just rely on her outward physical beauty to gather an audience. At least I was present at the beginning and have been enjoying the ride. Maybe some day you’ll be in The Pacific Northwest and our paths will cross and you will let me buy you dinner and we can regale each other with tales of solo adventures and life will be good lol. So here’s to the horizon and sunrise and back again. Cheers
