I had no idea what cosplay was either until my friend invited me to a small convention
She asked me who I was going as
I had no idea what she was talking about
So I looked into it and my first cosplay was Edward Elric the FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST >D and now I'm hooked on cosplay and going to conventions
I cosplay, but there are no close conventions

I love that all body type cosplayers are included! A lot of the cosplay videos I see only feature the skinniest, most muscled, and/or the ones with giant boobs and teeny waists. I also love the mix of veterans and ammatures. To put it concisely, I love this to death!!
I just realized that for my whole life I have only really seen cosplayers in photos (I have never gone to a convention). So it's actually pretty cool and eye-opening to see cosplayers actually moving and full of life, instead of just standing still and posing in photos.

Every time I'm feeling down about my cosplay and my body image I watch this and it always makes me feel a bit better and puts my priorities in order. Thanks, more than you'll know.
Pretty cool video to be honest. That's how cosplay was back then 5 years ago when I was going. It was all happy go lucky back then. I was always so excited going to cons meeting and socializing with people, taking photos of cosplayers or even with them. Now it's not like that anymore. Too many elitist out there thinking they are better then everyone else, less socializing, too much media; I can keep going. I'm can't even enjoy cosplay because of this and can't even hold a camera anymore. It's really sad and I know I am not the only person that feels this way.

And? Ive never particularly watched the show, but I hate the notion just because one person cosplayed a character makes it off limits to others. If you like a character you have the same right to show your enthusiasm.

I love cosplay so much just because of how happy people are doing it and how it can bring so many different people together. Seeing the smiles on the people in this video really made my day brighter (and I guess the Raiden with the operational AR Mask made it a little cooler too :y )

This always cheers me up, when I start to feel nervous. I'm going to a big con in just a few days an cosplay in my first self-made costume. And sometimes it makes me fear that I look bad next to all the people who do that since years. But this video reminds me of the fun ahead better than anything else.

That's not true! You can cosplay at any weight/size/shape/age/race - it's all about having fun & bringing characters you love to life! (Granted, I would like to lose weight to feel more comfortable cosplaying certain characters, but it doesn't stop me from cosplaying in general!)
And if you really have no experience sewing, you could always commission your costume - no shame in that. A lot of people also buy separates/pieces and put them together to make the costume (without actually creating any of the pieces themselves).
If you want to cosplay, then cosplay! Don't let these silly excuses hold you back =D

I've been losing weight for cosplay (over 2 stone so far) but I still cosplayed when I weighed more, fans are fans we're just happy there are others who like what we do, very few will judge you and those who do judge everyone.

Exactly! Cosplay doesn't mean you get skinny so you can fit into some tight spandex, cosplay means designing a costume you like, no matter what your size is, and simply having fun with others. Most cosplayers won't give a damn about your size, they only care about having fun and, some, care about accuracy on costumes. That's it. :)
