This little story may come as something a bit curious from the other side of the world. About 15 years ago, more or less, i bought a guitar magazine with some tracks from "guitarist of the year" . Among all the material on the cd that came with it I've heard this interesting blend of reggae and rock, a tune with very cool ideas. It got stuck in my ear for about a year and then decided to learn it. After a while I was demonstrating that riff and melody to my own students, trying to dare them to play and write something that mixes styles, as a little departure from the comfort zone. That song was "crab racing" by you Simon. I always wondered what became of you, and why I never found a proper album with more original music from you. For whatever is worth, "crab racing" is being taught to some students in the remote country of Chile, in South America. Sometimes we write music and have no control on how it will affect people. Crab racing is a song that i keep coming back to for teaching and just for the pure fun of playing it. Well done man!

Simon is a great guy. I first came across him back in the 1990's on his one man Rock shows in Great Bridge. I was blown away by his unbelievable ability as a guitarist and performer as an avid guitar and rock fan. Later in life I've picked up the acoustic guitar and learning my own craft to get to open mic playing. I've sought Simon's help and have learnt some great techniques and advice from him. Initially I have to say I was a bit nervous playing bits Infront of someone of immense talent and ability, but Simon is a genuine lovely guy who is passionate about the guitar. I thoroughly recommend his services throughout your guitar journey as I am doing.
Ive used Simon for lessons. The guy has really helped me improve both my technique and understanding of music theory. He’s a really nice guy too and there never any pressure to book more lessons than you want. Highly recommended.
I use rocksmith and RUclips I find these are great tools to tell me how to play a song but it doesn't always tell me where I'm going wrong I have been having lessons with Simon and he will watch me play and tell me where I can improve to make the sound better for instance not hitting unwanted strings or a technique to make it easier for me to play. Would highly recommend
I agree with you you can not beat one to one tuition but due to work and other commitments I can't do it I've used licklibrary DVD's RUclips etc and do find it difficult at times but for me that's the only options I have unfortunately your a brilliant guitarist wish things where different to be able to have lessons stay say
Hi Adele - obviously that is slightly limiting but there are plenty of things you could play without using your little finger. I would reccomend exercises to try and develop your little finger and train it to do what you need it to do.
Don’t hesitate to get lessons with Simon… he’s a superb player and great teacher. 🙌👍🎸
Thanks, dude that's really kind of you.
