I’m 66yrs old and I’m just now learning to play the harmonica but what I wanted to say is that I have been stuck in the same rut that seem to be in now it took me several years but I finally pulled myself out of it you’re a young man but your love for the blues and the old music seems to me think that deep down inside you’re an old soul I was fortunate enough to have grown up in the 60s in the 70s at a time when in my opinion I had some of the best music that ever has been done but anyway I would suggest that maybe if you can save up enough money you need a good road trip try to set a goal and find your way to a place like maybe Clarksdale Mississippi and just ride down Highway 61 there are some great blues clubs there they’re more like shacks but your there are some of the best blues played you’ve ever heard I mean this is where it all got started down here on the Delta I am from North Alabama and and I regularly attend the WC Handy blues festival I would say try not to overthink things inspiration can be found in the smallest of things like the little house on the mountain’s you were talking about but a rode trip down south to Clarksdale Mississippi would really do you a world of good and I can guarantee you that it would really inspire you and bring your harps with you because these people will let you get up and play not to mention the great barbecue they have down there it’s a very simple way of life down there but these folks are happy just something to think about enjoy your channel very much surprised you don’t have 100,000 subs I enjoy your content you’re a straight shooter and a very fine harmonica player just try to chill out but I can’t stress enough that a trip down to Blues country would really help you in your search to find yourself where you belong in this world you’re a young man younger than you realize it will all work itself out and come to you take care and keep coming all the videos😎✌️
For better or worse, this is the most interestingly honest video I've seen in a long, long time. It sounds to me like for whatever reason you have had to take a step backwards in your life. Open Mic nights in Lake Elsinore are great but they are significantly beneath your talent grade. Having heard you play on this channel I think you need to go somewhere where your talent is appreciated, be it Nashville, Portland, Chicago, Austin---wherever. You are among the very best at what you do. Prioritize, pack your bags and move forward.
@@RockessentialTim I wish that was a realistic possibility. I just don’t think that would work. I have zero dollars and my cars a piece of junk. I have no connections in music whatsoever and there is really just about no demand for blues harmonica players. I also can’t play on demand, only when the moment strikes. The sound of it is nice, but in 2024 that just isn’t a possibility. I’m sure if I really tried I could get over to one of those places, but I would quickly perish while trying to find work. I’m also not very good at the musical aspect of things. I can’t count, my timing is awful, don’t know much about theory or positions either.
@@formansbasement2311 Fair enough, but for whatever its worth I'm a retired old guy who worked in the music biz for most of my life and I can tell you that the thing that trumps all the obstacles you've listed is talent, and believe me not everyone is as blessed with it as you are. Please continue to put out the vids. Work and network, you'll get there.
One trick to find inspiration more easily at least for composition is to have either the radio or tv on as background noise. Not too loud but just there. It puts the brain in a sort of open, dream mode. There are even scientific studies backing this. They call it "shower effect" if I remember well. I didn't understand why I loved so much to play guitar while watching movies…
