Glad to hear that someone else besides me struggled after lessons. I was a 6 and was told by my golf buddies how much better I’d be if I stopped laying it off at the top of my backswing. 2 years of working on it with a coach that I don’t communicate very well with, I’m still laying it off, and I’m a 10 now.
Bummer to hear that, mine was a little different, they never worked on my mechanics, which I wasn't their for, but their way of how they wanted me to pre-shot routine and process my routine was wayyyy opposite of what I like..learning experience =) hope you get back to your good spot soon! =)
Thanks for sharing your story Larry. Curious about what coaching direction you received that wasn't helpful. I find that sometimes target based thoughts vs mechanics help "unstick" golfers when they are over the ball so they can pull the trigger. Love the practice video by the way. I am trying to incorporate your ideas into my own swing and see you demonstrate/practice/describe is very helpful. Dave.
Fit2YouGolf it was not mechanical, My mechanics were quite good as I was always more on the technical side,. The coaching I received that started this issue was more routine and thinking based, how they wanted me to visualize and process my pre-shot routine was so far from how I normally process things...learning experience I guess :p
Larry, the swing looks good. I’ve noticed that your rehearsal drills have your hands arms and clubhead very much behind you on the downswing yet your full swing everything appears to be on a plane line from the club head up through your right elbow. I assume the exaggeration is a fuel thing. I would love to see you analyze your own swing in the one with some plain lines
@@LarryCheungGolf no doubt! could you do a video to neutralize a hook? worked on the track man and it's not path i swing almost neutral. grip is two knuckles. i stall my lower body and i flip the club through causing the face to shut down.
Thanks Larry, another excellent video. Great insight into your progress..keeping it honest which I like. Just curious if have any opinion on keeping your armpits over your knees/balls of feet at setup? ala George Gangkas. you seem to share some similar drills for squatting/rotating, however I notice you allow your head to come off the wall on the downswing. The GG setup seems to help with this and rotation. Or maybe it does!! Any thoughts on this? Thanks again for putting up great content.
Thanks for watching :), I haven’t seem much of gg stuff, but I know he is very very very good at what he does! I’m not too picky on absolutes when it comes to the setup, but I do like making sure my clients are in a good position that allows them to make an athletic movement at the Ball :)

WhiskerRub 18 feet wide, 12 feet from hitting area to screen, forgot how tall it is :p And for what I’m working on, camera feedback is highly recommended :)
I've got another question: you try to deliver the takeaway with the shaft way steeper than Matt f.e. does to make it easier to lay the shaft in the downswing. As a personal feeling it is hard to make such a big `curve` in the back- and downswing. Is it a `must` to get the shaft steeper in the backswing?
Would you recommend working on your squat, rotate and down hinge technique without supervision of my coach? I’m worried I might practice it wrong. Can you think of any signs I could look out for that I’m getting it wrong. I’m a 3 handicap so I have some clue but I definitely need some more speed as I only have a 100mph driver speed
george santalucia tough to say, I’ve had some clients who pick it up in 5 minutes, and others where I run through the entire hour with them on the feel, as you’re a good golfer already, i would suggest trying to add speed working with someone instead of yourself :)
You've asked the junior golfer in the last video to come into the ball with less AOA than 4°. You personally seem to like your AOA of 4 or 5°. Do you recon a individual angel for each player and does it depend on the style of swing?
Hey Larry, I have a swing similar to Shawn Clements (you might be familiar since Matt used to work with him) but I’m looking to get lessons in your area but I don’t want to do a swing over haul, just clean it up a bit. Do you only teach the downhinge style like Matt’s swing change or are you able to work with the swing I have? Great vids btw!

Larry, I have been working on the backswing and maintaining width, but I am trying to do the squat and rotate but it seems that I have been lifting the upper body and not pushing off the ground , is there a drill or thought to get my lower body ripping up the ground as you say, thanks Larry
Well, I just want to say what works for me is pushing down the handle. The handle then works towards me and my hand is rotating I then add forearm rotation and go up and back. At the top I just leave my arms alone and rotate through. If my right arm goes high at finish with a club at and angle of " / " and it's effortless then I know I done it right and with iron I feel compression. I want the butt end to work, down, back and up with a feel of the clubhead being more central. I feel as if my club is loaded. It's hard to explain in words...but we're a all different. Right?

It definitely raises the ceiling of what I'm capable of =)
I am trying it out on the range but at times chunking it I guess I must not be leaving the arms up and coming in steep

Dr. Q. It really depends on the player, but typically lower the clubhead speed, shallower the AoA I want them :)
