Halifax is my hometown, I now live in Newcastle and I miss it a lot so seeing this really did cheer me up with nostalgia of my childhood place. That building you thought was a BT building was the swimming baths.

I was down in Halifax once for a visit and visited Piece Hall. Part of the film Brassed Off with Ewan McGregor was filmed there. Halifax is a lovely little town. And great if you're into architecture.

@@elwolf8536 Yes, it was one vote that saved the Piece Hall from demolishion, the year was 1976. In the 1950's and 1960's the Piece Hall was used as a wholesale fruit and veg market.

Under the building is (was?) the ‘Mortgage Deed Storage’ area - an amazing room full of automated conveyors and boxes - and if there was a fire, the entire storeroom would fill with gas to put the fire out - the sculpture is designed to allow the gas to escape afterwards. Very interesting building! Oh, and that’s the Wickes that ‘Auditing Yorkshire’ turned up at and got arrested for basically being a knobhead, so I can understand why they might be concerned about people filming :-)

If you leave a padlock unlocked , thieves can replace it with a similar lock , and when you ‘lock up’ by closing the padlock for the night , the thieves will have of course the key , and easy access to the premises, and they can even swap the padlocks when they leave with all your valuables , leaving you wondering how that happened 😮
That is MasterLock Excell combination padlock, without missing rubber piece covering for tumblers. You could reset code when lock is open, but even if it's closed they are so easy to open with simple shim that buying another one is not needed.

It worked out in the end, the builders got compensated by the police. But the Wickes staff got away scott free. Except for some public embarrassment and shaming.

My stepson managed to walk in for free to the Queen's gig and the Madness n UB40 gigs recently. They aren't securing the venue very well at all. Also, it's a great place. So beautiful n has awesome acoustics.

I met a women with 2 kids who lived in Halifax ,She wanted to go in pound Bakery .but she was stood outside and said she only had a five pound note so she couldnt go in £1 Bakery , she was asking for change .
The minster/church/cathedral visits are amazing regardless of the viewers religious views - it's one of vary view buildings which will let you inside to explore the architecture. At least one of few buildings worth exploring the architecture of.
Was nice to see Halifax. I grew up close by in Sowerby Bridge and spent lots of time in Halifax. The Union Cross and Upper George pub. Tram Shed back in the day. You even showed the cinema I first saw Star Wars. Sadly now shut.
I know 3 family,s from Halifax that made butties and a flask and set off for a day out too the trafford centre ,Then when i spoke to them 3 days later 1 endid up in leeds. And the other 2 endid up in chorley or preston and gave up and came home . i dont get it .

I know 3 family,s from Halifax that made butties and a flask and set off for a day out too the trafford centre ,Then when i spoke to them 3 days later 1 endid up in leeds. And the other 2 endid up in chorley or preston and gave up and came home . i dont get it .

There are two Gregg's in Halifax town centre, the one that Charlie went to is on Southgate, there is another one near the bottom of Woolshops on the way down to Marks & Spencer.

Halifax and Bradford have a huge Pakistan & Indian population. I installed some air conditioning units in some local shops and I felt like a minority.

Better shops and better architecture, although the nightclubs are probably better in Halifax, as Bradfords main nightclubs have been ruined by one Manchester based businessman who owns them all. The same goes for most of the Yorkshire cities where he own buildings which used to be nightclubs.
