Hi @WasabiBurger, it sounds like you guys had fun playing Shadow Under Devil's Reef! I completely agree and endorse this video review. I was experimenting and trying some stuff in my writing with this adventure. I am justifiably guilty of writing adventures that are more (or less) railroadie... so I was attempting to create something that had a sandbox feel to it. I wanted to give agency to the game master and players to explore the adventure as they see fit. I'm still not sure if I succeed in that with my work, but it's a learning experience with each new adventure.
The door puzzle. Man, that was a serious challenge for me. I'm not much of a puzzle guy. I use a hammer to "fix" already broken glass. I remember do a lot of research on logic puzzles when I was trying to come up that door challenge. Eventually I just made-up the puzzle that's used on the door. Puzzles are definitely my greatest weakness.
I absolutely love the modifications you made to the adventure so it could suit the needs of your game. I hope everyone does something similar for their games too.
Happy Halloween!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the review! Thank you so much for adding your insights!
Jon, I really like the spooky spider familiar! :)
@@evlynm, thank you! I really liked that part too. 😀
Yes! Now let's get the band back together for another live DCC campaign! 👌

good review. I love how easy it is to adjust a mod on the fly to suit the table.
This scenario sounds dope. I love the idea of Lovecraftian horrors smashed together with DCC!
I agree that this one takes a lot more than 4 hours to run in its entirety. I have started people at the island and *almost* made it in 4 hours. But I really like the intro and backstory, and missed that when running it shorter.
This will be our next adventure; looking forward to it. So far we've done Sailors on the Starless Sea, Doom of the Savage Kings, and Frozen in Time.
Oooooh solid round up so far! Doom of the Savage Kings is one that has been on my list forever because everybody loves it and I can't believe I haven't played it yet!
So good to here DCC is back! Looking forward to this. Nice one WasabiBurger.
My next big purchase is a good camera so I'm not such a fuzzy boi
I kind of give you a VHS vibe. :P
@@evlynm Haha I was thinking of putting a VHS filter once I saw the fuzziness but it wouldn't make any sense stylistically lmao. Time to review some 80s inspired modules!
It was still fun as a one shot. :)
Absolutely! I had a blast 😁
Request: add a link to the product in the description for ease of reference :) Really cool review otherwise!
Oh yeah I totally forgot! Thanks :)
thanks for the video
I'm curious how much work it might take to convert this module to Wierd Feontiers, cause by the spirit of it, it seems maybe perfect for that
I haven't played Weird Frontiers yet so I can't speak mechanically but I feel like it'd be super easy! I could see taking the coastal town and just re-jiggering it for your needs as a coastal town in Louisiana for example and having the same general storyline play out!
