Can the frame be made out of metal studs? 16 or 14 GA?
We were thinking of putting a small motor on this and making a crude pontoon boat. Do you see any problem with that?
Do you have to take it out if the water freezes?
My grandfathers dock business we wouldn’t take the docks out for winter but we would store all the floaters in another area in one location together still in the water and tie them all together. The hinges definitely made it easy

Well we have a bad dock mess to are lake. It goes through bullrush and is massively long. So I'm looking for ideas.

Forty eight holes for forty eight carriage bolts. This is a lot of work. I would recommend not purchasing most of the hardware and just using some extra galvanized screws in the wood. It will make the whole structure lighter and easier to remove in the off season.
