Beautiful colors, love it. Tip: the best sealer for the shimmer is plain hair spray. 😁 The cheapest one you can find in the dollar store and it only needs a very light spray. I basically just kinda "wave" the spray towards the paper from afar and it's more than enough to keep everything in place even with cheap mica powders I mixed with water and put in spray bottles.
I don't recommend hairspray as a sealant. It can (and does - I tried it years and years ago and it happened) yellow over time and react (and even dissolve) with different pigments and whatnot.
@@PrairiePaperandInkI don't know, I use it frequently and never had problem with it. I have mixed media projects as home decor I made five or six years ago and cards I gave to my mom on different occasions so I see them all the time as they are on display in her house but none of them changed. Maybe it's the type of the spray? I don't know. 😊 I'm in the UK so it could be many things really...
This card is just stunning! WOW, WOW, WOW! Amy you are a league of your Own! Not enough adjectives to describe how gorgeous this card is! Thank you so much for sharing 💜😻 Have a wonderful day 💖🤗
WOW! Lovely, elegant, regal cards. I did buy some of that gold vellum after you mentioned it before and love it. Also, used the sprays on some Halloween gift bags and a minute amount comes off but you have to rub hard for it to come off. Love the way you use them and this embossing folder is so pretty. Thanks so much.
Love these colors!❤❤. Only ten more days until Halloween, I hope you have time for one more Halloween card ( if not I love all your holiday cards as well )
The only time I have had trouble with the Distress Mica Stain coming off is when I used on top of Distress Oxide. I used the Distress Micro Glaze over the top and it helped. Otherwise, I agree with you, no need to seal it.
These are just beautiful, Amy. I had to laugh...when you mentioned using some Micro Glaze on top to seal the shimmer spray I realized I've had a jar sitting on my desk for, oh, maybe 100 years so while I watched the rest of the video, I spread some over the panel I had shimmer sprayed (I did notice the SS did rub off a bit. Note: the instructions said you could buff to a gloss but I noticed it did take off a bit of the SS. when I tested it.
I was lucky to be in this ctd765 one this week and used mica sprays too. I was looking at this SSS wheat folder but got the Garden Spires one instead. It would work for this too! Love the effect, Amy!
Delighted you brought up a problem some mentioned regarding mica stains. I made some gorgeous panels with these stains but they would never dry. I used the heat gun but the mica and color would still wipe off. I used the panels anyway thinking somebody is not going to rub it. So what you are saying is keep the layers thin. Okay I will. Lol. Love these stains so much I would use them all the time barring they continue to smear off. Another thing is I did not use the paper you did. I used N-90lb. I’ll switch and see what happens. Thanks lady. Love your videos!
Beautiful, shimmery awesomeness! I have been loving distressing the edges of my cards again too. I haven’t brought out the sewing machine yet though. I’m not sure I would remember how to thread it anymore. Oh, I’ve been putting Tim’s gilding wax along the distressed edges by lightly tapping or swiping it on. So pretty! Try it sometime, it’s freakin’ amazing.
Most sewing machines have arrows showing how to thread them and if yours doesn't, there's probably a video on RUclips showing how to do it. But chances are you'll remember how to do it if you get out your sewing machine. Don't be intimidated, you've done it before and you can do it again!
Wow Amy.. These are so beautiful. Love the colors and of course the shimmer and sparkle of the sprays. You sewing looks fabulous. And omg I want to kick myself.... I just placed an order with SSS, and I totally forgot to add the flickering butterflies, to my chart. Urgh😢 Anyway..... Love your cards Amy. 👌
Amy, do you have any of the dylusions shimmer sprays? I'm pretty sure they're the same thing as the mica stains, but they come in more vibrant colors. I think they're underrated considering everyone loves the mica stains! And they come in single colors, which I prefer, because I've already emptied two bottles.. Always love to see you using your sewing machine! It adds a lot to the cards.
SSS sells the mica stains individually I linked to them individually. The Dylusions sprays are made by Ranger - same manufacturer. And yes I have them they're great I just haven't made a point of swatching them and using them in videos yet.
@@PrairiePaperandInkit's great that SSS sells them individually but unfortunately I'm not from North America. Would love to see what you do with the dylusions shimmer sprays!

I love the fall co l or but wonder if you could color the cardstock first then emboss? I'm not sure about the white core.
I discussed that in the video

I use the same micro sprays and it does come off. However I didn’t use watercolour paper. Could that affect the results.
