I love it when foreign fighters come up with their own waikru/ram muay. I've seen a Japanese does Katana slash. And another Japanese does a sumo-pushing combination.
They look cool, respected and funny at the same time. I love creativity. 😘😘

Thanks for doing these videos. I have learned very much. Seems like I have learned as much about the life and culture in Thailand as well as Muay Thai. You also speak like a real person which is very easy to understand

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with performing the traditional aspects of a traditional martial art. I mean that's the whole point of it. Hopefully the masters in Thailand will never endorse someone on Thai soil teaching "Muay Thai" and not requiring these intellectual and spiritual aspects. It would be very dishonorable, in my opinion, to allow that.
If somebody's a fundamentalist Christian, first of all I oppose them because they want to force their religion on the rest of us. But secondly, I would say they can do western kickboxing and western wrestling and thereby avoid any kind of intellectual or spiritual tradition. It's a completely braindead practice, and therefore they can do it without it conflicting with their beliefs.

I don’t think you understand Christianity or who is actually forcing their traditional beliefs on who.

Yup. That's the difference between martial arts and combat sports.

If you don't want to practice the spiritual and intellectual aspects of MT you can always just do western kickboxing.

this is perfectly exact. it is to pay respect to your teacher thanks to who you have all this knowledge. it's the same in Myanmar, you have to perform a lekkha moun and a lethwei yay before a lethwei match. it's the culture, and a beautiful art comes with it!

My Khru was a Christian like me
So to avoid religious complications but still be respectful to Thai culture our Wai Khru Ram Muay was the story of David killing Goliath

@@8limbsUs Unfortunately not ☹ But I can describe it
We started in our corner and walked to the center of the ring lifting each knee (kind of a Kow Tron) then swinging the knee to the side each step
At the Center we bow to all judges on all 4 sides then return to our corner the same way as above
From there we walked to each corner stopping each time and do a light Muay Thai move (elbow ,knee ... whatever)
When we get back to our corner we knelt down with one knee up and left palm up
The right hand would rotate around the left hand 5 times with palms meeting each time they lined up (David picking 5 stones)
After That stand up and swing right hand over head once or twice then to left hip stepping forward with right leg as the "stone" gets released (left hand on temple)
Step forward with left leg with left hand over forehead "to check damage" with right hand at hip
Lastly step forward and stamp with right leg in fighting stance
Then Bow to Khru or corner man in corner as he removes Mongkol (I hope I spelt that right)

Religion shouldn't keep you from doing Wai Kru or anything...You can perform the movment while adressing the ritual to your own god. What matters is your intent, not the ritual in itself.
