    Reminds me of one of my earliest visualization exercises for sleep as a child.
    I would always imagine inputting the destination coordinates into the navcomputer, followed by climbing back into the berthing area. It was going to be several days before arrival, so might as well spend it resting. From there it was kicking off the boots, peeling away the flight suit, and climbing into the bunk. The covers served as warmth and a restraining mechanism in case the gravity generator went out. One doesn't want to wake from sleep by banging their head against the ceiling. It's padded, but not that thick. Last, I would drift off to sleep while staring out of a porthole into space while the sound of the engines drone on in the background.
    I grew up in a small town, loved sci-fi books and movies. It's what helped make the days go by faster in a place that would have otherwise been unbearably boring.

..он оказывается... Спит...

    I used to work in a power station and this takes me back to working nights on my own, listening to the unit fans and the distant vibration of machinery. Sometimes it was impossible not to fall asleep. But most of the time a unit op (turbine operator) would bring the fans on too fast and this would make horrendous loud noise which would wake you up with jump. The good old days not having to work for a living 😭 sometimes you didn't.

    When I was a kid I saw the original Planet of the Apes movie just a short time after it came out. At the beginning, Charlton Heston is in the pilot seat of a small spacecraft, recording a message before putting himself in stasis for a sleep of unknown duration, and he waxes a bit on the folly of mankind. Outside the ship's windows are abstract colors and shapes, more lava lamp than starfield. That scene captured my imagination 50 years ago, and this video brings back that feeling, even though it looks more Alien than Planet of the Apes. Thank you so much!

    Amazing, thank you for this video. I wanted to relax, but started to calculate the possibile speed of this ship 😊. Considering that every 2 sec. The ship meet a new star, The speed should be >100K Times more the the speed of light 😮

    • @Zeta_Reticulum
      @Zeta_Reticulum Год назад +2

      Well, from the point when the star appears to the point when the ship flies by, it takes 20 seconds. If we assume that there are only 5 light years from star to star (like the sun to aproxima centauri), then the speed should be several million times higher than the speed of light.. The 20 seconds are then 5 light (years) and ... 5 years are about 150.000.000 seconds, and we need only 20 secs

    Not sure how a spacecraft could move at that unfathomable speed without the light of the stars being massively distorted.

      We got different warp speed as you can notice. If you see how fast we can move. I invite you to watch these videos 😉 ruclips.net/video/bypuSB-z5y4/видео.html

      If one were to travel close to the speed of light, you'd see nothing but a big red-shifted blur, as you'd be going so fast that the wavelength of all light of all the stars ahead of you would be compressed into the red spectrum, and highly condensed. If one were capable of warping space in a spacecraft to travel at "warp speed", all you'd see would be a bright white glow from the preposterous amount of energy being expelled and released in bending the fabric of existence itself. You would possibly see some gravitational distortions on generating and degenerating the warp bubble.

      Perhaps those aren't stars. Maybe they're just orbs of mysterious space light that we have yet to discover.

    Yes but at this speed (about 4 light years a second) 82 million years will have passed on Earth. So.. make sure you've fed the cat before watching it.
