This video is amazing in every way as to the ideal performance of both the Tori and Uke, in addition to the commentator's pitch who knows exactly what to say and how to say it! Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Yes, this Ma-sutemi requires perfect timing, and watching your head. Try lifting heavy dummies for practice. I enjoy every part of it. After 30 years of training, I´ve seen a couple of accidents. Train hard! :)
Ukemi alone is not enoug. A mistake from tori and uke is in real deep trouble as it is very hard to do proper ukemi with this kind of ura nage unless tori throws correctly. When we practice it normally it "falls" to us, higher grades, to perform as uke for brown belts and I can assure you that even with a high level of ukemi, this specific ura nage is scary!!! :-)
random 11 year old here, this video was introduced to me by my dad.. I only know like, 3 or 4 moves rn so uh. Cya in the future if I still continue judo
0:31 indeed, uke is supposed to help with this throw, but here he's totally jumping into it while tori is not even pulling. if tori do his job, uke shouldn't be able to jump like that, he's supposed to trip because the space tori created pull him downward and prevent him from taking another step. the second one at 0:42 is much better.
@@Mulberry2000 my remark doesn't have much to do with break falls though. break falls happen as you're already falling, not before. also the video clearly shows he's striking the mat with his hand at the exact time his body hit the mat, that's perfect judo break fall forms, taking away some of the impact with your arm. actually that part is a bit of bullshit from the practical standpoint, striking the ground as you fall only change things on a mat, and will lead to injuries on hard surfaces.
@@niscent_ It’s a misconception that you have to hit the mat “hard”. The sound which often is heard (and therefore the reason people have come to this misconception) is because you tense everything up. Breaking your fall has to do with the fact that you create more surface and therefore lower the impact on your back. Now going on to you saying he jumped: I don’t agree with you here. Sure he had a bounce, but that’s far from “jumping”. The reason the bounce was done, is because had he not done it he would’ve gone face first in the mat, which isn’t even part of the kata.
Hard to believe the IJF banned some of these techniques! What a shame they didn't just introduce a freestyle and Greco-Roman version of Judo! after all, wise man say: "only add to JUDO never take away"👈

People who think uke is "jumping" in uki otoshi need to practice more! Uke is the aggressor and his advancing force is turned against him. There is no resistance by uke, it is an example of impeccable timing and technique
is it just my opinion or they make even too many steps? i was taught to never do steps which are not needed and i was also taught that tori is the only who moves towards uke, while uke stands still... (sorry for bad english, i'm italian)

No, you're not both right; you're wrong. The correct pronunciation is not 'soo-temmy'. 'Stemi' is fine. His pronunciation is very good for a non-Japanese. I'll bet he is fluent in the language... probably why he was hired by a Japanese production company to do the voiceover. I'll bet he lives in Japan and did the voiceover there.
How do you think you can learn techniques if you don't do "coreographed nonsense" first? Do you think you can learn techniques on someone trying to beat you up?
This is basically a "kata". That is a"choreographed sequence" that allows you to learn basic techniques. And this particular video is of an exam for a grading.
