I have loads of respect for him for actually taking the time to explain about the charity and why it would like to raise money, and encouraging people to donate; instead of just pouring water on himself. End of video.

My Mum is in the final stages of ALS and has received support from the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Thank you Benedict Cumberbatch for helping to publicise this heartrendingly awful disease and raise money for the fight against it.

Well done Benedict, I will be doing it today. My late father passed away in July 2010 due to this horrible disease. Took away about 20 years of his life.

At the end he'd grumble "Tedious" lol and then he could nominate John Watson or Loki, Iron Man, Thor, Batman, you get my drift to raise even more awareness. It could get pretty creative if other popular fictional characters got in on it from both Literary and Film history. Imagine Dracula (Gary Oldman) taking an iced-blood bucket challenge or Maybe Daniel Radcliffe would do Harry Potter etc...

I couldn't of been more pleased with Benedict Cumberbatch's Ice Bucket Challenge video.
Benedict played Stephen Hawking in the BBC production Hawking about the professor's diagnosis of Motor Neuron Disease (MND/ALS) as a Phd student.
The shower and wet white t-shirt scenes are my favourite I think.

When I read the statement from his PR REPS that he would do the ice bucket challenge, I just knew that he was going to make a full on production out of it. And boy, he did not disappoint!
Not only did he complete possibly the best ice bucket challenge to date, he did it in true Benedict style.
Not only is he a brilliant actor, he cares about his fans. With this video he gave them what they wanted (shower scene?!) and I am pretty sure they returned the favour in kind by donating what they could because of it (I know I did). And people still wonder why his fan base is so hardcore and devoted to him.
I am proud to say that I live in a world with people like Benedict in it. He uses his celebrity powers for good, although I am sure he would do the things he does whether he was one or not.
So thank you Benedict for being you and trying to make this world a better place, one polite gesture at a time. :)

0306babylove well...don't be sorry ;) I didn't say his looks don't matter :) ..but the first thing that made me love him was his voice - I heard that voice and I was fascinated - I remember seeing him years before that (in 2007) in "Atonement" and he creeped me out. It's one of my favourite books and I thought he played his character brilliantly.
btw I also love his lips, eyes, cheekbones, hands (!!!), legs, ass, jawline...and his beautiful smile. But that didn't matter to me in the first place because I fell in love with his talent and his personality and his voice...after that I realised I am also very attracted to his body :D
