It's amazing how basically EVERY part in the video fits the song. 😭 A rollercoaster of emotions.
This song made Sauron's betrayal feel ten times more heartbreaking than it did before even if I don't believe they were quite in love per se.
The way I see it, Galadriel betrayed him. I am rooting for Sauron.
They made his characted a manipulator: when he offer ger to be his queen, he play on her fears and pride - not on love .
My theory is she fell in love, he only used her to get what he wanted. She was a means to an end. It’s likely I’m seeing it all through then prism of my own experiences.
Yeah they aren’t in love but the way he’s played in the series he’s in awe with her, he quite likes her. I bet he’d like her to be his queen but obviously it ain’t happening.
So far in this movie he is just himself and what he really thinks is not entirely clear.
Yes, he hides his identity and doesn't wear an "I am Sauron" t-shirt, but somehow I don't expect him to introduce himself by his real name to the people he fought and who hate him.
He does not hide from Galadriel that he has done wrong things, he does not go into details and Galadriel does not ask him for details.
And when she finally gets suspicious of him and asks him who he really is - she gets the truthful answer.
Of course, there is a question of how much sincerity and how much manipulation in all this, but we simply don't know that at the moment.
And the answer is not at all obvious.
I guess (?) we can predict the ending of this story, but many different ways can lead to this finale.
We really don't know if Sauron is manipulating Galadriel and anticipates some events, or maybe Galadriel's blind desire for revenge is pushing Sauron down a path he no longer wants to take?
Or are both true to some extent?
Anyway - "betrayal" is by far too big a word for this situation.
Things may happen in the future, but for now, that's how it is.
Light always shines the brightest amongst the darkness. She was the only light he could see and his only path to it. "I ALONE CAN SEE YOUR LIGHT"
Oh man, why did they have to make him so sexy?
Well in the books he was described as 'fair' and had a pleasing and amiable character. This way he gained the confidence of the Elven smiths especially Celebrimbor and also became the chief advisor to the King of Numenor before its downfall. I'd say the producers got the portrayal of Sauron in the Second Age in the way that Tolkien intended.
Well, it would have been much harder for Sauron to get the others working with him, if he looked well like what a "Dark Lord" usually looks like :D. I doubt anyone would have trusted him if he looked like the Mouth of Sauron or something like that.

Explaining all that to Celeborn is going to be quite challenging.

Love this, the tense emotion and connection are well captured. These two have such chemistry. It's interesting as Halbrand can be so multi-faceted, guess that's a part of 'the deceiver' character. Love how the mythology blends the smith with what is the equivalent of a fallen angel, who once shone brightly. In this context, Halbrand's wistful moments with Galadriel are so poignant, honest even. She triggers the sliver of light that has all but faded from him. Both know, deep down, they have their own paths yet are connected. Love it!
Halbrand seems like a nice guy that has gone trough a lot. I hope nothing bad happens to him and he can heal middle earth!
I'm sure he'll give Frodo his finger back in the end of the story

This gives me chills. To all the people saying that he used her all along. If that's the case, the show creators did a poor job portraying that by giving him far too much human emotions when she wasn't even looking at him. Or for that matter, once he was in Eregion, he didn't NEED to offer to make her his queen, he could have either done more deceptions or go all the way and capture or kill her since in the book lore he at once perceived her as his greatest foe
