    The cold in my corner of the world was a sudden drop in temps from being in the thirties to the negative thirties for days. It was a tough week. Some chickens did not survive, and I even found pheasants and small songbirds dead in the snow. Very sad. When I checked my pens at dusk I found all kinds of game birds and songbird species inside with my poultry, even burrowed into the feathers of each other's backs! Nature always finds a way. I was sure busy keeping good high protein hay, small grains, and fresh water in front of everyone! And yesterday was above fifty degrees...nice.

    You definitely have to work together in the kind of weather we have been having.
    And the forecasters say it's going to get even wilder.
    So be prepared.
    Thrift carharts and or snowmobile clothes your best friend will be the proper clothing.
    That includes footwear!

    Your farm looks beautiful in snow. We ended up with about 9 inches of snow in Crossville, TN. Jim and I just hunkered down for the week. Around here the big danger is Ice. Both in our 60's the only animals we have Namida our dog and our strictly indoor cat Watahay.
    Our dog is a Whippet/Bulldog mix so she has to get bundled up and have foot covers to go out.
    All your animals are doing fine, congratulations on keeping them happy and healthy through these freezing temperatures.

    Looking good. Snow makes things beauitful. If you are cold might as well hav snow to top it all off. I woud not like your freeze thaw cycles. All that ice to walk on. We had it -43C in Alberta this winter and thats cold. Way to cold.
    Enjoy your time and have fun. Will look at the JOIN section

    6:56 Why you put your water line not deep in the ground. For me when I live in Poland I place my water line like 3m in the ground (almost 10 feet). So no to take risk when temps can go very low sometimes.

    Make sure the water line for the out door yard hydrant is 4ft below the ground. At that depth it should not freeze.

  • @russse2793
    @russse2793 5 месяцев назад +1

    We always wrapped our hydrants with an electric powered insulation tape, and remember how well it worked. I don't miss any of those days though, busting pond ice, etc.. Stay vigilant and prepared, as the world is heading towards God's wrath being brought forth. May God bless and guide you.
