Kudos to Baradwaj Sir. You are the best and this interview proves that. Great questions, Great respect. Lots to learn from your questions and how you delivered it.
That was an outstanding interview! You really nailed it - insightful, engaging, and inspiring!
Soumya has a laser sharp reply to all questions..a clear mind with perfect understanding on things
Samyuktha!!
I strongly disagree with her comment on reservation, indeed host tried to register his disagreement. The point of reservation is not lifting two generations by giving economic lift. Its primary aim is to create participation in policy making and governances. Excluding the above remark, she is really inspiring.
@@soundharramsay appreciate your comments - to be clear, I am not against reservation. In fact I am batting for 1% horizontal reservation for struggling transwomen. But, I don’t want to be part of the reservation because thankfully I am not struggling. Thats what I said should apply to the wider concept of reservation. It is necessary and should reach the right people.
Agreed. Which world is she living in that she thinks people of lower castes have received equality in "two generations?"
Still differ with u r thoughts on reservation. The trickling of meager benefits to the undeserved is not the problem. Still the majority of the oppressor are not realizing their inhumane behavior is the reason that reservation should continue. It is very crucial for an emerging leadership like u 2 realize economical uplift is different from social acceptance.
Very cogent , eloquent and graceful !
Her voice is soothing❤
Very true and intense interview … 👍. Welcome Samyuktha. 💐🤝
Your Journey is inspiring....good to have such understanding parents...
What a fantastic title.. suits for any mass hero action film. Really i love the title
Really proud of You Miss. All the best

wishing all the success.
Such poise and finesse in communication... no one would guess, she lives abroad. Her accent is indian. Thats nice. Enjoyed the interview.. very fine and organic questioning Bharadwaj.
👍🏾👍🏾 that's how a program do it. We got youtube
Superb interview Samyukta! Looking forward to watch NNS in a theatre, probably pulling in a bunch of my classmates too.. btw, PSG ECE senior here, who also went thru an arc of understanding these topics better over time. Your views have moved the needle some more.. thanks.
Still wondering, why not just "Neela Suriyan"?
I thought it wasn’t poetic enough.. :)
What a wonderful interview, samyuktha's unique way of story telling shone throughout the interview. i don't know if she will ever read this, but this question of why a transgender person has to play transgender character will be thrown at her at a lot of times hereon, it is better if she avoids the example that she gave here as it could be wrongly perceived. Girl, just say, it will be more authentic. Period. Sometimes when we tend to over explain things we tend to lose plight of what we want to convey. Apologies in advance for this unsolicited advice, i really do wish you become a fresh voice like Luca Guadagnino in kollywood.
@@meghanasundar9672 thank you for the advice. It is a good point!
@@samyu.vijayan Wishing u the best for your future endeavors. Please don't ever stop telling stories.

You be trans man / woman but this fluidity would ruin society .
Imagining oneself as male in the morning, female at night nd occasionally trans 🙄
16:33 guys let's not Cancel this lady for her woke and half baked comments. Lets hope that she may educate herself on reservation/ affirmative action for oppressed people.
More power to you

Unma kasakatan bro seyyum. Athulayum when someone speaks against reservation, it's always a Brahmin according to you. Work on your biases.

17:00 You still need more evolution about reservation...
@@IvijayVJN I agree and am willing to learn. to be clear, I am not against reservation. In fact I am batting for 1% horizontal reservation for struggling transwomen. But, I don’t want to part of the reservation because thankfully I am not struggling. That what I said should apply to the wider concept of reservation. It is necessary and should reach the right people.
@@samyu.vijayan Thats the issue in your thinking if its not reality just coz a family got multiple reservation doesnt mean they be called as “IAS kudumbam” da still be called as “*****(caste name) kudumbam” da..if you think reservation is to enhance economical status nope its societal respect via representation…even if it takes 10 generations of reservation to change their statement to “IAS kudumbam” we’ll do and its the duty of the government to do that…pls get evolved based on how this hierarchy is working at root level instead of seeing it from top tier level…You say you dont need reservation yet you’re here voicing out rights and respect for trans people why??? Coz Economical heights may not help you receive that societal respect..we need mindset change which can only be done thru representation not economical status
I admired when you said “I transitioned to another gender so its foolish to tell third gender or something”…You got all my respect in that moment itself…keep doing keep voicing out for the change
Is she saying that gender is binary only? as she says that trans in trans woman is an adjective.
I am saying the trans in transwoman is an adjective. But people could identify as non-binary or gender fluid (which is broadly accepted as the other category).. so your gender could be male, female or non-binary
Please refrain from reading the comments on here. There are some vile transphobes people on tamil internet.@@samyu.vijayan
I highly appreciate for giving reply to comments about gender mam.
You earned a friend(fan) & That's me 😊🤗.
All the best for neela nira sooriyan ☀️🌞
@@abuzarroshan782 You are scary to me. You shouldnt say these words. the person who the reply goes to should.
@@samyu.vijayanAnd what is ur take on possible misuse of these loosely practiced fluidity in gender?
When a man rapes a woman nd then claim Iam a woman or vice versa ?
BR got very uncomfortable with the reservation conversation 😂
Face the truth BR. Its ok to discuss what is fair and true.

haha
The whole point of acting is to be someone else. So it's not necessary that every LGBT character should be played by a IRL LGBT person. By that logic should we also say only the same caste person should play that castes roles? Would Karnan or Pariyerum Perumal have happened then? If a transwoman is able to convincingly portray a ciswoman then they can play the role. But obviously that's not the case for most transwomen. So it makes sense.
The point being made is that these people barely get opportunities to act. Hence if you are going to have one of them as a character, you might as well get them to represent said character or it will be like Shakespeare hiring men to play women all the way back then. And that person may be able to better inform that character with their life experience, provided they have the acting skill already of course but if they have both it can be an even better performance. So there are those two aspects.
I do agree with the original commenter. Directors should just go with which actors would be the best suit for a particular character.
@@abctalkies6981 You assume that there is a moral responsibility on the director's part to uplift any marginalized group he is portraying. And that is definitely not the case. And you may have not seen the hypothetical I have posited so I'll repeat it. Should a director take into consideration caste whenever he casts actors for roles in which the caste of the character matters? Should a director choose only Vanniyar, Paraiyar, and Nadar actors for characters belonging to the respective castes? What's the whole point of acting if people cannot play who they are not?
@@saran1743 If you are going to involve trans people in your movies to make money, what fairness dictates is that you try to involve the consultation of that group in order to avoid misrepresenting them. Directors don't have to uplift anyone but they and all people 1000% have a responsibility not to de-lift them. Hence while it is not the end of the world if you end up casting a cis person to play a trans person, it is certainly more morally correct to hire a trans person.
This gets a bit murkier when talking about caste; some castes are oppressed and some are oppressors. The same logic of misrepresentation applies here in the sense that lower caste people are oppressed like trans people are and hence, not demoting social justice entails representing them properly much more than it ever would UC people who are well off anyways. So likewise I would say it is more morally correct to hire lower caste people to play themselves, but with UC people you can take it or leave it as they are not in a precarious scenario where any misrepresentation could be harmful. Likewise they will get opportunities in the industry no matter what.
In that case you don't need women to play role of heroine, if a hero can portray like a woman convincingly, then he can only play the role...please understand the point..see the difference..peranabu director casted a real trans woman for that role and that was very convincing..in super deluxe Vijay Sethupathi was cast that was also convincing as we wanted to see his as husband of Gayathri who has transitioned to a female
