Dear WizKids, lol or mini makers in general, I wish for these books you could just get a full set of unpainted minis but complete enough to play the campaign. I hate the collectable element of minis. Would buy like a Call of Cthulhu boxed module for Mansions of Madness.
I agree... I might be interested in getting these if I knew I would get what I needed to run the campaign. But spending money for a "chance" to get something I might use? No way--WizKids can go take a hike. I'm not sure why somebody thinks this is a good business model--maybe it works, but not for me. Makes it easier to choose to play on Roll20.
That’s why you buy a case so that you get everything, though the randomness is indeed very annoying. The aftermarkets like Miniature Market is great if you’re looking to pick up a few specific figures.
@@exoteche6706 I bought a case of the Waterdeep minis and the quality was terrible. the miniatures fall off their stands and some of them come apart and need to be reglued. The quality took a major hit since the lords of madness set.
We just finished our Icewind Dale campaign tonight, i've been saving this video for 9 months now. Our party met a snowy owlbear, I was able to tame it with a natural 20! the group decided to name him Horowitz.

I ordered a case as I so wanted this set so badly. The War of the Dragon Queen set from a few years ago had a frost giant riding a mammoth wasn't very big. Loving the Gnolls as usual. Thanks for the review guys cant wait to get mine.

This set is amazing, all the mini's can be used in the adventure! I've been reading the adventure for the last few days and can't wait to run it. These miniatures can definitely enhance the experience!

It may be more work than what it's worth, but I would love to see some content going over premade campaigns (like the one in this video) and the molds and # of miniatures you should grab for that campaign to run it. (IE: "For chapter one, you'll want 3 foxes.." ect...)

Many miniatures to like in this set! Don't hate on the gnolls, wizkids has given us plenty of them in the icons of the realm sets, but they are found in hordes, and hordes of them will look great with many different sculpts to add immersion and variety.

I really liked how tematic this set is! My favorite ones are the cold crone, i loved the sculpt and i would love to have that as a custom monster, the mammoth because, well it's a mommeth hahahaha And the best one, the Snow Owlbear, look how happy that cute is! hahahaha

Just a slight misstatement: The Goliath Race is NOT the same as it was in VGtM. There are 2 very significant differences. They now have Cold Resistance, as well as having their Alignment blurb removed (shades of things to come?)

I got the Winter's Womb rare in my brick, which feels like karmic punishment for something bad I did in a past life. I did get the Avatar of Bea Arthur, so that's neat.

Anyhow mom named him Sam after uncle Sam because of his birthday . Last I weighed him he was around 250 lbs , so he's close to a dire goat LoL

I grew up raising goats on a little farm they can be wonderful and gentle animals, or they can be stubborn as all hell and full of mischief. As a newish miniature painter, it's always encouraging to look at factory paint jobs. I wish they didn't do the booster pack model... it's neat to have Miniatures that fit the story, Though.
You should be able to request replacements for damaged minis. For these types of figures they usually have you mail it in for an exchange. wizkids.com/product-support/
Is there any way to get these miniatures in a not random box? I don't think the contents of a product should be random. I am not interested in gambling or children gambling and I think that these randomized boxes are terrible.
There are many retailers that open the boxes and sell figures individually. Some local game stores do this, but if yours don’t then ebay or online retailers are another option. The FAQ on our website covers ones we’ve used before, though it’s by no means a comprehensive list. www.gallantgoblin.com/post/wizkids-minis-booster-sets-demystified The big monsters in a set will usually be released individually as unpainted minis in the Nolzur’s marvelous miniatures product line, so that’s another way to get them for much cheaper. Otherwise, buying the boxes as a case all but guarantees you get at least one of each figure, though it’s possible for a factory error to mess things up and there’s no recourse other than going online and trading for the missing figures. If your fundamental objection is the business practice, there is no way to buy the prepainted versions without someone having pulled them out of a box at some point. That said, at a large enough scale to mitigate the randomness, it’s profitable for the big stores to open the boxes and sell the individual figures, which is why they do it. Prices are usually pretty low on the common and uncommon figures, so if those are what you’re after, you can get them for cheap, and the stores make it up on the expensive rares. -Grady
The Crone is medium in the stat block but the Brittle Maiden is large. Since Winter’s Womb is supposed to be small and also got placed on a medium base, I’m inclined to assume WotC had all three of Auril’s forms as medium when the art was given to WizKids. Otherwise since there are rules in the packaging around larges it’s possible they didn’t want the Brittle Maiden taking up the space of one of the other large figures in the set. -Grady
The individual booster boxes seem to be around $16.99 right now. A brick should be slightly over $100 and a case around $450. For bricks and cases, you can usually negotiate with your local game stores and get varying discounts, which is why the prices are a bit uncertain. You can also buy individual figures on the aftermarket (ebay or game stores or other online retailers that open boxes and sell the figures) but this set is very popular and the prices are currently unusually high for singles. -Grady

Unfortunately, unless the bricks are packaged together in a sealed box, there is no guarantee that you won’t get duplicate rares, as the bricks are otherwise mixed together in storage. -Grady

So excited for this one... weirdly enough the arctic fox mini is my favourite, because one of my players recently adopted one as a pet. It was an elven bard. They called their pet “Brick” I might pick up a brick.... or two.... maybe three?😅
It was intended to have a cage early in the design process but the cage ended up being left out of the final version, so the name is correct and the mini isn’t broken, but there is no cage in its hand.
I wanted the Green Dragon in my City of Lost Omens brick, and didn’t get it, so I was really hoping I’d get the white dragon in my brick this time. Got a stupid frost giant skeleton. Pretty sad to say the least. Don’t want to pay 40 dollars for him on eBay =(
If you're going through online retailers like Miniature Market or CoolStuffInc, you can literally just search for the set you're looking for, plus the word case. If you're ordering through a local game store, you'll have to explain to them that you want a "Booster Case" of the minis, and they should be able to order that through their distributors. You will have to ensure that they understand the difference between a "case" and 4 random booster bricks. Is there any way to get these miniatures in a not random box? I don't think the contents of a product should be random. I am not interested in gambling or children gambling and I think that these randomized boxes are terrible.
There are many retailers that open the boxes and sell figures individually. Some local game stores do this, but if yours don’t then ebay or online retailers are another option. The big monsters in a set will usually be released individually as unpainted minis in the Nolzur’s marvelous miniatures product line, so that’s another way to get them for much cheaper.
Otherwise, buying the boxes as a case all but guarantees you get at least one of each figure, though it’s possible for a factory error to mess things up and there’s no recourse other than going online and trading for the missing figures.
If your fundamental objection is the business practice, there is no way to buy the prepainted versions without someone having pulled them out of a box at some point. That said, at a large enough scale to mitigate the randomness, it’s profitable for the big stores to open the boxes and sell the individual figures, which is why they do it. Prices are usually pretty low on the common and uncommon figures, so if those are what you’re after, you can get them for cheap, and the stores make it up on the expensive rares. -Grady

Let me get this straight, the Crone is listed as large in its stat block but the mini is medium size? How did that one happen?
The Crone is medium in the stat block but the Brittle Maiden is large. Since Winter’s Womb is supposed to be small and also got placed on a medium base, I’m inclined to assume WotC had all three of Auril’s forms as medium when the art was given to WizKids. Otherwise since there are rules in the packaging around larges it’s possible they didn’t want the Brittle Maiden taking up the space of one of the other large figures in the set. -Grady

The individual booster boxes seem to be around $16.99 right now. A brick should be slightly over $100 and a case around $450. For bricks and cases, you can usually negotiate with your local game stores and get varying discounts, which is why the prices are a bit uncertain. You can also buy individual figures on the aftermarket (ebay or game stores or other online retailers that open boxes and sell the figures) but this set is very popular and the prices are currently unusually high for singles. -Grady

Why does it say With Cage for the Reghed but there's no Cage on them? am I missing something?

I finally buy 3 bricks on Amazon but I got repeat rares. 3 winter wombs, 2 tekeli, 2 frost giant(one of them said in the base skeleton frost giant).
Unfortunately, unless the bricks are packaged together in a sealed box, there is no guarantee that you won’t get duplicate rares, as the bricks are otherwise mixed together in storage. -Grady

So excited for this one... weirdly enough the arctic fox mini is my favourite, because one of my players recently adopted one as a pet. It was an elven bard. They called their pet “Brick”

Did you figure out what was up with the Reged Nomad's Cage?
It was intended to have a cage early in the design process but the cage ended up being left out of the final version, so the name is correct and the mini isn’t broken, but there is no cage in its hand.

I wanted the Green Dragon in my City of Lost Omens brick, and didn’t get it, so I was really hoping I’d get the white dragon in my brick this time. Got a stupid frost giant skeleton. Pretty sad to say the least. Don’t want to pay 40 dollars for him on eBay =(

How do you buy a case versus a Brick?
If you're going through online retailers like Miniature Market or CoolStuffInc, you can literally just search for the set you're looking for, plus the word case. If you're ordering through a local game store, you'll have to explain to them that you want a "Booster Case" of the minis, and they should be able to order that through their distributors. You will have to ensure that they understand the difference between a "case" and 4 random booster bricks.
