This is good, but from a first-timer's perspective, a little explanation as to why certain things were done allows much more rapid learning, rather than copying. There is a lot of assumed knowledge and it might be useful to label each tutorial as 'complete novice', 'beginner', 'advanced', etc.
@@flo.motionthanks for the reply. There was a lot I struggled with, unfortunately. For example, explaining why certain layers are needed, why different blending modes were selected. In terms of the different blend modes, I rarely see tutorials explain their selection. These may make sense to those used to AE, but it's not the easiest of programs and follow as I do tutorials only work once you have a clue what and why the person is doing whatever. This is why I suggested different labels, stating the intended audience. Personally, I only learn once I understand why I have to do something, as memorising is not a great ability of mine.

Hi, I am using a jpg texture image and the motion tracked face is moving under the texture. The texture isn't moving wit the face. My home is to make a zombie flesh effect onto a face, that moves with the tracked image.
I feel it would be easier and you would get better warping results if you used Nuke's smart vector tool instead of having to track many points of the face with mocha. I started using that last year and it is so useful. Never seen your channel before man but I am always happy to see another VFX artist on the site. Thanks for showing some new features!
Hey! It is on my list and I will try it soon! But I think still you are more flexible with my workflow, as you are able to keyframe and have different tracks for different positions. As far as I know the AE face tool just gives you your track points, but you can't really define more! for example if you want to put something on your eye, there is a trackpoint in the AE face tracker, so that works perfect! But if you want to put something inbetween your eyes, there is no pre-defined point, so that is not really possible. I hope you get the idea!! It is great to get a basic look, but if you want to go in deep you need to do it manually!

Hey! There is of course a limitation in the movement that is possible to track! That means you need to see the part you are tracking throughout the whole shot! If it gets more advanced you have to go for a complete 3D workflow

nooooo Everything was going great until changing to the blue color. I couldn't deselect the masks in the red left eye clip and so just duplicated it and added a blue solid which was fine until I went back to the main comp and tried to go and delete all of the other masks in each clip once I labeled all of the red ones, and the masks were gone! Help!! I think I missed how to change from the red channel masks to the blue one and it messed everything up Otherwise, this has been an awesome tutorial! thank you!

When I mask nose or any part and after I create that corner points key to that layer then automatically that part is invisible the layer is still on but that red nose part or any part is invisible so....
AE together with Motion bros and Face Tools can face track a character in a video then insert a mask which is manipulated by the tracking data. This means you can transfer data to a still image and animate it. Is there any way AE and Mocha can do the same.

Lockdown is in deed a pretty cool plugin! In terms of tracking, there is nothing better than Mocha. (they even won the emmy Award this year!!) but I will definately also try Lockdown, seems really good for some cases

hey Tanja, Thanks a lot for the nice words. The long nose could be done, but it is a bit tricky. You could go into Photoshop and paint a long nose, then export it with an alpha channel and put it back in the AE comp. Then track the nose and apply the tracking to your "long nose" You could also animate the nose with scaling or so, just make sure to set the anchor point to the point where the nose is attached to the face!! 👃😜

Great tutorial, but i have a problem. Every time I want to export the tracking data for lets say my mouth, its not really working. There are keyframes on my position, rotation and scale, but there are no keyframes for the corner pins although I choosed corner pin in the effect panel. It worked just for the left eye top so far and I tried to figure it out myself but I cant get a solution. Do you have any ideas?

My After Effects is up to date and the Mocha plugin is not available. Any magic I need to perform to get it to show up?
you tipped in "mocha" in the effects and presets panel? have you tried going to the "effects" tab and searching for "Boris FX mocha"?

hey Tanja, Thanks a lot for the nice words. The long nose could be done, but it is a bit tricky. You could go into Photoshop and paint a long nose, then export it with an alpha channel and put it back in the AE comp. Then track the nose and apply the tracking to your "long nose" You could also animate the nose with scaling or so, just make sure to set the anchor point to the point where the nose is attached to the face!! 👃😜

Great tutorial, but i have a problem. Every time I want to export the tracking data for lets say my mouth, its not really working. There are keyframes on my position, rotation and scale, but there are
no keyframes for the corner pins although I choosed corner pin in the effect panel. It worked just for the left eye top so far and I tried to figure it out myself but I cant get a solution. Do you have any ideas?
