It's not the principles of being mad. Black Fraternities and Sororities were started because we weren't allowed in events or activities. That's a part of Black History. Not unless one of her parents were black but that's a part of our culture and his that should remain in our community.

@@GreekLife101 It’s annoying, but that’s what “they” do. What baffles me is why we continue to accept them into our orgs. A white woman with an excellent GPA, letters, hours, etc. would have an extremely difficult time proving discrimination amongst BLACK female applicants of similar or GREATER quality who were also rejected. These are historic organizations...why would you ever want to change the integrity of your own history?????? Not a white woman or man in sight during their various inceptions, but now we’re going to add them on the back end? NO.
Some traditions are to be preserved.
I feel you , but I know plenty of blacks that are members of White sororities and fraternities as well !

That's how whites felt about joining blacks joining their sororities.
I remember when I was in college with my sorority and other sororities, we got blow outs from the Dominicans. I don't do straight hair anymore but damn these lacefronts/wigs are annoying, the blow outs were better.

Maybe Taryn does have some insight, though, maybe not lived experiences, into black culture. Even if limited, it seems to have been enough to make her want to be a part of NPHC vs NPC. Also, while I'm not stereotyping names, she mentions "the daughter of Latisha", which means she may be the adoptive or "claimed" (raised by) daughter of a black woman, possibly.
She could be biracial. My cousins look fully white but have a whole black parent.

Being biracial doesn’t mean your black it’s just mean your mixed. Wake the heck up we’re not on that bull crap of a 1 drop role. America unfortunately made that ish up to keep people in this mind set during and after salver. Alpha Kappa Alpha is a historically black Greek letter organization, and sometimes people of other cultures get in. But we are black org by identity. There's a person going around the comments saying we're not a black org. That's *false*. Multicultural by a slim technicality? Yes. But black in nature, always. We don't need other cultures to validate us. They are occasionally allowed to join us, but their presence doesn't change who we are or how we identify ourselves.

If you have friends that are in your desired sorority, you should reach out to them for potential interest.
First learn the art of discretion. Don’t post your interest online. Do your research of the happenings in your area.
You can research online it’s a lot of information out there if it’s for you stay encouraged… contrary to what someone else said you can express your interest or no one will ever know

I know what it took for me to get my letters, and I earned them, they were not given to me. I was expected to follow the RICH BLACK HISTORY and tradition that was important to my grandparents and parents who worked hard to make sure that I, as a BLACK WOMAN would have a opportunity in life to have better connections to resources, to uplift and help my community, that's what it was about back in the day! My skin ain't white so, I don't get instant "Freebies." I have both D9 and Mason/OES in my family so, I know the foundation of both. We (Black People) are so accepting of "other's" when they have absolutely no real comprehension of our Black history, life struggles, or what walking in our shoes for 1 hour means, and the struggles that our ancestors had to endure to build any kind of organization in this racist country. They would faint and die if they only knew what we endured on a daily basis so, that's what I give af about! We instantly give "other's" a " Pass", but hate our own race, and we never question their motives about what or how they will contribute to OUR organization. Everything in the country has been stolen from us and duplicated and they turn around and tell us not to do it because it's " Plagiarism" well they have been doing since we crossed the " Middle Passage." This is just another form of " Plagiarism" so, if you don't understand, you're the ignorant one. Again, in the words of Malcolm X " Hoodwinked! Bamboozled! Ranamock! 1619! Oklahoma Massacre!
